hope_n of_o it_o as_o it_o be_v the_o hand_n and_o eye_n and_o tongue_n may_v be_v reform_v but_o the_o heart_n be_v desperate_a who_o can_v know_v it_o who_o can_v mend_v it_o who_o can_v overpower_v that_o have_v outbid_v all_o the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n no_o battery_n can_v ever_o prevail_v against_o it_o therefore_o labour_n to_o besiege_v it_o with_o the_o evidence_n and_o plainness_n of_o undeniable_a argument_n of_o truth_n from_o the_o word_n that_o nothing_o may_v come_v in_o nor_o out_o listen_v not_o to_o any_o carnal_a reason_n within_o suffer_v not_o either_o honour_n or_o profit_n or_o pleasure_n from_o without_o to_o enfeeble_v the_o power_n of_o the_o truth_n but_o so_o besiege_v it_o with_o the_o evidence_n of_o the_o word_n that_o the_o soul_n may_v say_v this_o be_v my_o sin_n this_o be_v my_o plague_n this_o be_v my_o state_n it_o will_v be_v my_o ruin_n unless_o the_o lord_n show_v mercy_n to_o i_o this_o will_v tire_v the_o heart_n of_o a_o man_n and_o there_o be_v no_o other_o way_n in_o the_o world_n and_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o the_o heart_n will_v either_o lay_v down_o his_o corruption_n or_o his_o conviction_n but_o this_o be_v our_o misery_n that_o some_o go_v out_o and_o some_o come_v in_o and_o so_o the_o heart_n be_v relieve_v and_o hold_v the_o siege_n long_o the_o last_o direction_n which_o may_v prepare_v we_o for_o the_o next_o point_n viz._n the_o hand_n of_o the_o lord_n to_o work_v this_o for_o we_o when_o thou_o be_v persuade_v this_o stubborn_a heart_n will_v cost_v i_o many_o a_o prayer_n and_o tear_n and_o bring_v i_o often_o upon_o my_o knee_n it_o will_v never_o do_v else_o if_o i_o think_v it_o be_v easy_a i_o never_o know_v what_o it_o be_v and_o when_o thy_o heart_n be_v so_o besiege_v that_o it_o find_v no_o relief_n then_o brethren_n look_v often_o up_o to_o heaven_n he_o only_o that_o make_v the_o heart_n can_v frame_v the_o heart_n to_o the_o bless_a obedience_n of_o his_o own_o will_n all_o that_o we_o can_v do_v be_v to_o use_v the_o mean_n and_o lie_v under_o the_o ordinance_n that_o god_n may_v do_v that_o for_o we_o which_o he_o require_v of_o we_o it_o be_v the_o lord_n own_o but_o other_o do_v or_o may_v understand_v more_o than_o themselves_o so_o here_o man_n and_o brethren_n we_o know_v not_o our_o sin_n before_o nor_o now_o how_o to_o be_v quit_v of_o they_o you_o that_o from_o god_n know_v how_o to_o discover_v they_o we_o can_v but_o think_v but_o you_o may_v show_v we_o a_o way_n of_o escape_n and_o deliverance_n and_o therefore_o we_o can_v but_o inquire_v though_o the_o sinner_n can_v say_v it_o will_v yet_o he_o do_v not_o know_v it_o will_v not_o be_v therefore_o i_o term_v it_o a_o unknown_a expectation_n it_o secret_o sway_v and_o carry_v the_o his_o spiritual_a relief_n and_o therefore_o this_o send_v the_o heart_n out_o after_o search_n and_o enquiry_n and_o those_o possibility_n provoke_v the_o sinner_n to_o put_v to_o with_o what_o diligence_n and_o endeavour_n may_v be_v to_o see_v what_o he_o can_v make_v of_o they_o whether_o they_o will_v hit_v or_o miss_v what_o will_v become_v of_o he_o and_o his_o comfort_n that_o he_o may_v know_v what_o to_o make_v of_o himself_o and_o his_o condition_n which_o as_o yet_o he_o know_v not_o joel_n 2._o 13._o who_o know_v if_o god_n will_v return_v who_o know_v whether_o these_o anchor_n of_o the_o soul_n both_o sure_a and_o steadfast_a heb._n 6._o 19_o this_o hope_n never_o make_v ashamed_a rom._n 5._o 5._o a_o man_n never_o miss_v of_o his_o expectation_n as_o the_o ground_n of_o our_o hope_n be_v most_o sure_a and_o the_o success_n be_v most_o certain_a and_o the_o ground_n be_v the_o love_n and_o faithfulness_n of_o god_n in_o the_o undoubted_a performance_n of_o the_o promise_v he_o make_v rom._n 5._o 4._o because_o the_o love_n of_o god_n it_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d in_o our_o heart_n by_o the_o 〈◊〉_d ghost_n 〈◊〉_d this_o unknown_a expectation_n arise_v from_o the_o apprehension_n of_o some_o 〈◊〉_d present_v which_o because_o they_o be_v unknown_a what_o they_o may_v be_v therefore_o the_o restless_a contrite_a sinner_n put_v forth_o his_o endeavour_n to_o
