what_o need_n have_v she_o of_o the_o testimony_n of_o miracle_n but_o as_o to_o private_a christian_n i_o can_v by_o no_o mean_n understand_v in_o what_o stead_n they_o stand_v they_o for_o if_o the_o church_n authority_n be_v necessary_a to_o their_o believe_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o therefore_o to_o their_o believe_v that_o there_o be_v those_o miracle_n real_o wrought_v which_o the_o write_n of_o the_o apostle_n tell_v we_o of_o then_o why_o may_v they_o not_o without_o any_o more_o ado_n make_v her_o authority_n the_o immediate_a ground_n of_o their_o assent_n to_o the_o truth_n of_o christianity_n it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o matter_n of_o fact_n be_v not_o knowable_a at_o this_o distance_n such_o as_o whether_o there_o be_v such_o person_n as_o our_o saviour_n and_o his_o apostle_n whether_o they_o perform_v such_o miracle_n and_o the_o apostle_n write_v such_o book_n etc._n etc._n but_o by_o the_o tradition_n of_o the_o church_n because_o no_o such_o matter_n be_v to_o be_v know_v at_o any_o considerable_a distance_n but_o by_o tradition_n to_o this_o it_o be_v answer_v that_o it_o be_v one_o thing_n to_o believe_v the_o matter_n of_o fact_n upon_o the_o church_n tradition_n and_o another_o to_o believe_v they_o upon_o her_o authority_n found_v upon_o her_o infallibility_n now_o this_o latter_a we_o reject_v but_o adhere_v to_o the_o former_a as_o a_o ground_n of_o our_o belief_n of_o those_o thing_n but_o then_o by_o the_o tradition_n of_o the_o church_n we_o be_v far_o from_o meaning_n that_o of_o rome_n to_o receive_v the_o faith_n of_o christ_n upon_o the_o selfsame_a ground_n and_o motive_n that_o be_v propose_v by_o our_o saviour_n and_o his_o apostle_n and_o upon_o no_o other_o we_o live_v in_o each_o of_o these_o call_v itself_o a_o true_a church_n and_o therefore_o how_o shall_v we_o know_v that_o they_o be_v none_o of_o they_o so_o but_o that_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n alone_o be_v they_o tell_v we_o that_o this_o church_n alone_o have_v the_o note_n and_o character_n of_o the_o true_a church_n we_o ask_v again_o how_o it_o do_v appear_v that_o those_o note_n and_o character_n they_o give_v be_v true_a and_o genuine_a and_o if_o they_o be_v that_o their_o church_n only_o have_v they_o here_o they_o be_v force_v to_o fly_v again_o to_o the_o scripture_n and_o produce_v we_o some_o which_o they_o will_v have_v we_o believe_v be_v very_o pertinent_a to_o the_o purpose_n though_o none_o but_o those_o who_o see_v by_o their_o light_n be_v able_a to_o discern_v any_o such_o matter_n but_o whether_o they_o be_v to_o the_o purpose_n or_o no_o be_v no_o part_n now_o of_o our_o enquiry_n but_o this_o be_v that_o which_o we_o show_v from_o hence_o how_o still_o they_o be_v entangle_v in_o their_o own_o net_n and_o run_v round_o in_o a_o circle_n yet_o once_o again_o these_o people_n will_v persuade_v we_o that_o there_o be_v no_o know_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v of_o behave_v thyself_o in_o the_o house_n of_o god_n which_o be_v the_o church_n of_o the_o live_a god_n the_o pillar_n and_o ground_n of_o truth_n according_a to_o episcopius_n his_o read_n of_o these_o latter_a word_n it_o be_v not_o the_o church_n that_o be_v here_o call_v the_o pillar_n and_o ground_n of_o truth_n 241._o but_o god_n manifest_v in_o the_o flesh_n justify_v in_o the_o spirit_n etc._n etc._n in_o the_o next_o verse_n for_o he_o make_v that_o 15._o verse_n to_o conclude_v with_o live_a god_n verse_n and_o pointing_n be_v arbitrary_a and_o the_o pillar_n and_o ground_n of_o but_o the_o apostle_n bishop_n and_o pastor_n be_v call_v the_o builder_n of_o the_o house_n and_o governor_n never_o the_o house_n itself_o and_o beside_o the_o church_n which_o be_v here_o call_v the_o pillar_n and_o ground_n of_o truth_n be_v that_o over_o part_n of_o which_o timothy_n preside_v that_o thou_o may_v know_v how_o thou_o ought_v to_o behave_v thyself_o in_o the_o house_n of_o god_n etc._n etc._n that_o be_v as_o a_o bishop_n and_o pastor_n in_o it_o three_o if_o it_o shall_v be_v understand_v of_o the_o church_n representative_a it_o be_v however_o intolerable_a impudence_n to_o make_v it_o only_o the_o roman_n but_o four_o this_o text_n make_v nothing_o to_o the_o purpose_n of_o infallibility_n in_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n sense_n understand_v by_o the_o word_n i_o speak_v as_o unto_o wise_a man_n judge_v â—e_n what_o i_o say_v 1_o cor._n 10._o 15._o and_o dare_v they_o say_v that_o he_o overshoot_v himself_o in_o that_o say_n or_o pass_v a_o mere_a compliment_n upon_o the_o corinthian_n it_o will_v not_o be_v at_o all_o strange_a if_o they_o do_v consider_v how_o many_o worse_a thing_n several_a of_o they_o have_v say_v of_o this_o apostle_n but_o i_o say_v this_o church_n will_v not_o permit_v we_o to_o see_v with_o our_o own_o eye_n but_o we_o must_v take_v the_o whole_a of_o our_o religion_n upon_o trust_n that_o be_v upon_o her_o bare_a word_n pin_n our_o whole_a faith_n upon_o her_o sleeve_n and_o receive_v the_o most_o fundamental_a article_n upon_o her_o warrant_n and_o authority_n nay_o though_o she_o will_v seem_v to_o give_v we_o leave_v to_o use_v our_o reason_n in_o the_o choice_n of_o our_o church_n yet_o neither_o do_v she_o this_o real_o but_o what_o she_o give_v with_o one_o hand_n take_v away_o again_o with_o the_o other_o in_o that_o she_o will_v not_o suffer_v we_o to_o judge_v of_o the_o sense_n of_o scripture_n and_o consequent_o not_o of_o those_o text_n whereby_o she_o pretend_v to_o prove_v herself_o the_o only_a true_a church_n for_o if_o we_o be_v
