of_o christian_a religion_n to_o abstract_n and_o draw_v the_o soul_n from_o sensual_a and_o carnal_a object_n and_o to_o level_v and_o confine_v it_o to_o that_o object_n which_o be_v fit_v and_o proportion_v to_o it_o even_o the_o thing_n above_o this_o be_v the_o work_n of_o the_o gospel_n by_o which_o if_o we_o walk_v we_o shall_v suspect_v and_o fear_v the_o thing_n below_o the_o pleasure_n and_o glory_n of_o this_o world_n as_o full_a of_o danger_n and_o set_v our_o affection_n on_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v above_o and_o so_o have_v our_o conversation_n in_o heaven_n from_o whence_o we_o look_v for_o the_o saviour_n the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n let_v we_o now_o see_v what_o use_n we_o can_v make_v of_o this_o and_o draw_v it_o near_o to_o we_o by_o application_n and_o certain_o if_o christian_a religion_n do_v draw_v the_o soul_n from_o that_o which_o be_v please_v to_o the_o sensitive_a part_n than_o we_o ought_v to_o try_v and_o examine_v ourselves_o and_o our_o religion_n by_o this_o touchstone_n by_o this_o rule_n and_o be_v jealous_a and_o suspicious_a and_o afraid_a of_o that_o religion_n which_o most_o hold_v compliance_n with_o the_o sense_n and_o with_o our_o worldly_a desire_n which_o flatter_v and_o cherish_v that_o part_n at_o which_o the_o soul_n go_v forth_o and_o too_o often_o bring_v back_o death_n along_o with_o she_o which_o do_v miscere_fw-la deum_fw-la &_o seculum_fw-la join_v god_n and_o mammon_n the_o spirit_n and_o the_o flesh_n christ_n and_o the_o world_n together_o and_o make_v they_o friendly_a to_o communicate_v with_o each_o other_o and_o so_o make_v the_o christian_a a_o monster_n cry_v abba_n father_n but_o honour_v the_o world_n fall_v down_o and_o worship_v christ_n not_o in_o a_o stable_n but_o in_o a_o palace_n take_v he_o not_o with_o persecution_n and_o self-denial_n but_o with_o honour_n riches_n and_o pleasure_n which_o in_o true_a esteem_n be_v but_o as_o the_o apostle_n term_v they_o dung_n i_o will_v not_o mention_v the_o heathen_a for_o what_o religion_n can_v they_o have_v who_o be_v without_o god_n in_o the_o world_n nor_o yet_o mahumetism_n although_o we_o see_v with_o what_o ease_n it_o prevail_v and_o get_v a_o side_n and_o overflow_v the_o great_a part_n of_o the_o world_n because_o it_o bring_v with_o it_o a_o carnal_a paradise_n a_o eternity_n of_o lust_n and_o such_o allure_a promise_n as_o the_o sensual_a part_n can_v relish_v and_o digest_v well_o enough_o though_o they_o be_v never_o for_n absurd_a if_o from_o these_o we_o pass_v over_o into_o christendom_n we_o shall_v soon_o see_v christian_a religion_n fall_v from_o its_o primitive_a purity_n remit_v much_o of_o its_o rigour_n and_o severity_n paint_v over_o with_o a_o smile_a countenance_n make_v to_o favour_n that_o which_o former_o it_o look_v upon_o as_o capital_a and_o which_o deserve_v no_o better_a wage_n than_o death_n for_o how_o have_v the_o church_n of_o rome_n fit_v and_o attemper_v it_o to_o the_o sensitive_a part_n and_o most_o corrupt_a imagination_n pull_v off_o her_o sackcloth_n put_v on_o embroidery_n and_o make_v she_o all_o glorious_a without_o allay_v it_o with_o worship_v of_o saint_n which_o be_v but_o a_o carnal_a thing_n and_o worship_v of_o image_n a_o carnal_a thing_n turn_v repentance_n into_o penance_n fast_v into_o difference_n of_o meat_n devotion_n into_o number_v of_o bead_n shut_v up_o all_o religion_n in_o obedience_n and_o submission_n to_o that_o church_n draw_v out_o religion_n from_o the_o heart_n to_o the_o gross_a and_o outward_a act_n with_o what_o art_n do_v she_o uphold_v herself_o in_o that_o state_n and_o
