any_o enemy_n to_o resist_v what_o hope_n can_v they_o have_v of_o mercy_n from_o christ_n who_o be_v so_o easy_o turn_v from_o the_o sincerity_n of_o his_o gospel_n which_o they_o shall_v defend_v with_o their_o dear_a blood_n think_v serious_o of_o this_o and_o take_v heed_n of_o decline_v in_o such_o a_o happy_a fine_n season_n remember_v lot_n wife_n as_o christ_n bid_v you_o and_o consider_v that_o she_o for_o look_v back_o towards_o sâ—dome_n be_v turn_v into_o a_o pillar_n of_o salt_n and_o that_o to_o season_v we_o withal_o as_o augustine_n think_v deceive_v not_o yourselves_o but_o know_v for_o a_o certainty_n that_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o gospel_n will_v not_o further_o your_o salvation_n but_o rather_o aggravate_v your_o condemnation_n if_o you_o fail_v away_o from_o it_o either_o in_o the_o time_n of_o persecution_n or_o in_o the_o time_n of_o peace_n vers._n 14._o and_o that_o which_o fall_v among_o thorn_n be_v they_o which_o have_v hear_v and_o after_o their_o departure_n be_v choke_v with_o care_n etc._n etc._n now_o follow_v the_o exposition_n of_o the_o three_o kind_n of_o ground_n which_o note_v unto_o we_o a_o three_o kind_n of_o hearer_n and_o those_o also_o be_v bad_a hearer_n the_o ground_n be_v full_a of_o thorn_n there_o be_v some_o reasonable_a depth_n of_o soil_n yet_o the_o seed_n and_o the_o corn_n sprout_v be_v choke_v by_o thorn_n and_o briar_n that_o come_v up_o among_o it_o so_o as_o it_o yield_v no_o good_a crop_n at_o harvest_n in_o like_a sort_n there_o be_v some_o hearer_n who_o heart_n be_v not_o so_o hard_a as_o the_o former_a and_o who_o be_v not_o try_v by_o tentation_n and_o persecution_n as_o they_o weâ—e_v who_o heart_n seem_v to_o be_v much_o move_v and_o deep_o pierce_v with_o the_o word_n and_o live_v in_o such_o peaceable_a time_n and_o place_n that_o they_o be_v never_o call_v to_o suffer_v for_o the_o word_n and_o yet_o all_o be_v afterward_o mar_v by_o corrupt_a affection_n which_o be_v not_o yet_o mortify_v but_o still_o live_v and_o reign_v in_o their_o heart_n and_o so_o these_o hearer_n suffer_v much_o from_o both_o the_o former_a kind_n the_o first_o sort_n be_v hinder_v in_o their_o fruitfulness_n by_o the_o devil_n who_o take_v the_o word_n out_o of_o their_o heart_n the_o second_o sort_n be_v hinder_v by_o other_o man_n who_o persecute_v they_o for_o the_o gospel_n but_o this_o sort_n be_v hinder_v by_o their_o own_o carnal_a and_o worldly_a lust_n they_o differ_v from_o the_o first_o kind_n because_o those_o understand_v not_o the_o word_n but_o these_o understand_v it_o and_o will_v have_v embrace_v and_o obey_v it_o but_o that_o it_o cross_v

they_o they_o will_v hinder_v the_o grow_v of_o the_o word_n and_o therefore_o peter_n exhort_v we_o first_o to_o lay_v aside_o all_o maliciousness_n &_o all_o guile_n 2._o and_o dissimulation_n and_o envy_n and_o then_o as_o new_o bear_v babe_n to_o desire_v the_o sincere_a milk_n of_o the_o word_n that_o we_o may_v grow_v thereby_o and_o james_n bid_v we_o 21_o lay_v apart_o all_o filthiness_n and_o superfluity_n of_o maliciousness_n and_o receive_v with_o meekness_n the_o engraft_a word_n which_o be_v able_a to_o save_v our_o soul_n if_o gross_a humour_n abide_v in_o the_o stomach_n they_o inordinate_a affection_n in_o your_o heart_n they_o will_v so_o hinder_v the_o efficacy_n of_o the_o word_n as_o it_o shall_v not_o profit_v you_o to_o the_o aluation_n of_o your_o soul_n this_o shall_v teach_v you_o so_o often_o as_o use._n you_o come_v to_o hear_v to_o look_v unto_o your_o heart_n and_o to_o empty_v they_o of_o all_o wicked_a affection_n remain_v in_o they_o as_o you_o be_v careful_a when_o you_o plough_v and_o sow_v your_o field_n to_o rid_v up_o by_o the_o root_n all_o thorn_n briar_n and_o bush_n leave_v they_o shall_v hinder_v the_o corn_n so_o be_v you_o careful_a to_o free_v your_o heart_n from_o these_o bad_a affection_n when_o you_o come_v to_o hear_v christ_n biddeh_o you_o to_o be_v as_o wise_a 4._o as_o serpent_n now_o this_o be_v one_o point_n of_o the_o the_o hearer_n heart_n they_o do_v oftentimes_o keep_v man_n from_o hear_v at_o all_o martha_n be_v 41_o careful_a to_o provide_v good_a fare_n for_o her_o guest_n &_o trouble_v herself_o about_o many_o thing_n when_o with_o her_o sister_n mary_n she_o shall_v rather_o have_v hear_v christ_n doctrine_n those_o guest_n who_o be_v invite_v to_o the_o wedding_n feast_n make_v excuse_n 18._o that_o one_o have_v buy_v a_o farm_n and_o must_v needs_o go_v see_v it_o another_o have_v buy_v 5._o yoke_n of_o ox_n and_o must_v go_v prove_v they_o another_o have_v marry_v a_o wife_n and_o therefore_o can_v not_o come_v worldly_n care_n keep_v many_o from_o the_o church_n who_o will_v not_o be_v absent_a if_o their_o worldly_a business_n do_v not_o draw_v they_o another_o way_n yet_o will_v not_o be_v present_a if_o their_o absence_n serve_v for_o their_o gain_n so_o do_v these_o care_n make_v their_o hear_n altogether_o unprofitable_a even_o as_o thorn_n make_v the_o sow_v ground_n unfruitful_a some_o have_v their_o heart_n so_o exercise_v with_o think_v and_o plot_v of_o worldly_a matter_n that_o they_o can_v attend_v to_o the_o word_n deliver_v other_o have_v beat_v their_o brain_n and_o busy_v their_o head_n before_o fall_v to_o sleep_v when_o they_o shall_v hear_v other_o that_o be_v awake_a and_o listen_v have_v no_o love_n nor_o like_n of_o that_o which_o be_v teach_v the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n have_v so_o put_v their_o mouth_n out_o of_o taste_n as_o they_o can_v find_v no_o sweetness_n in_o the_o word_n other_o attend_v &_o seem_v to_o like_v all_o well_o for_o a_o time_n yet_o afterward_o the_o care_n of_o the_o world_n enter_v into_o their_o head_n and_o heart_n and_o drive_v the_o word_n out_o of_o they_o even_o as_o one_o nail_n drive_v out_o another_o there_o may_v be_v in_o they_o for_o a_o time_n some_o strive_v and_o struggle_v betwixt_o the_o world_n and_o the_o word_n but_o the_o world_n overcome_v in_o the_o end_n and_o make_v they_o no_o better_o then_o if_o they_o have_v never_o hear_v christ_n bad_a his_o disciple_n take_v heed_n to_o themselves_o least_o at_o any_o time_n their_o heart_n 34._o be_v oppress_v with_o surfeit_v and_o drunkenness_n and_o care_n of_o this_o life_n and_o lest_o the_o last_o day_n shall_v come_v on_o they_o at_o unaware_o because_o care_n of_o the_o world_n do_v one_o special_a cause_n why_o they_o hear_v so_o much_o and_o profit_n so_o little_a these_o then_o who_o will_v be_v profitable_a hearer_n must_v before_o and_o after_o their_o hear_n keep_v these_o care_n out_o of_o their_o heart_n let_v they_o remember_v the_o exhortation_n give_v by_o christ_n be_v not_o careful_a 25._o for_o your_o life_n what_o you_o shall_v eat_v nor_o what_o you_o shall_v drink_v nor_o for_o your_o body_n what_o raiment_n you_o shall_v put_v on_o be_v not_o the_o life_n more_o worth_a than_o meat_n and_o the_o body_n than_o raiment_n which_o of_o you_o by_o take_v hearer_n in_o particular_a in_o the_o description_n of_o they_o and_o by_o compare_v they_o with_o the_o former_a hearer_n we_o may_v easy_o perceive_v that_o in_o some_o thing_n they_o do_v agree_v with_o they_o in_o some_o thing_n they_o differ_v from_o they_o and_o do_v much_o excel_v they_o there_o be_v some_o commendable_a thing_n in_o diverse_a of_o the_o former_a hearer_n and_o will_v have_v wrought_v good_a in_o they_o if_o they_o have_v be_v well_o use_v in_o these_o thing_n do_v these_o good_a hearer_n agree_v with_o they_o they_o have_v the_o selfsame_o thing_n though_o in_o a_o better_a manner_n and_o with_o better_a use_n 1._o they_o agree_v with_o they_o in_o that_o they_o hear_v as_o well_o as_o the_o rest_n all_o the_o person_n speak_v of_o in_o this_o parable_n be_v hearer_n both_o good_a and_o bad_a and_o they_o all_o hear_v one_o and_o the_o same_o doctrine_n though_o not_o after_o one_o and_o the_o same_o manner_n nor_o with_o the_o like_a efficacy_n and_o fruit_n and_o therefore_o those_o which_o refuse_v to_o hear_v either_o through_o error_n as_o our_o recusant_n or_o through_o contempt_n and_o negligence_n as_o some_o careless_a and_o carnal_a people_n be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v the_o ground_n here_o mention_v as_o that_o they_o be_v worse_o than_o the_o bad_a ground_n speak_v of_o before_o there_o can_v be_v any_o goodness_n in_o their_o heart_n nor_o yet_o in_o their_o life_n can_v any_o field_n yield_v a_o good_a crop_n of_o corn_n at_o harvest_n which_o be_v not_o sow_v at_o the_o seed_n time_n they_o be_v worse_o than_o many_o reprobate_n have_v be_v and_o be_v how_o then_o can_v they_o look_v to_o be_v as_o good_a as_o the_o elect_n be_v and_o shall_v be_v 2._o they_o agree_v in_o the_o understanding_n of_o the_o word_n for_o it_o be_v say_v in_o matthew_n he_o that_o receive_v seed_n in_o good_a ground_n 19_o be_v he_o that_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o understandeth_v it_o and_o although_o the_o first_o sort_n of_o bad_a hearer_n be_v say_v to_o hear_v and_o not_o understand_v yet_o the_o other_o two_o sort_n be_v insinuate_v to_o have_v understand_v for_o how_o can_v they_o receive_v the_o word_n with_o joy_n unless_o they_o understand_v it_o how_o can_v care_n of_o the_o world_n the_o deceitfulness_n of_o riches_n and_o voluptuous_a live_n choke_v the_o word_n after_o it_o be_v hear_v unless_o it_o have_v be_v understand_v so_o that_o as_o the_o understanding_n of_o the_o word_n be_v not_o sufficient_a to_o make_v you_o good_a hearer_n so_o on_o the_o other_o side_n the_o want_n of_o understanding_n declare_v you_o to_o be_v bad_a hearer_n all_o good_a hearer_n understand_v the_o word_n though_o not_o only_o they_o good_a hearer_n must_v practice_v that_o which_o be_v teach_v they_o but_o how_o can_v they_o practice_v that_o which_o they_o understand_v not_o 3._o they_o agree_v in_o their_o affection_n to_o the_o word_n those_o that_o be_v as_o stony_a ground_n receive_v the_o word_n with_o joy_n so_o also_o do_v these_o good_a hearer_n though_o the_o thing_n itself_o be_v not_o express_o mention_v the_o gospel_n be_v glad_a tiding_n and_o rejoice_v the_o heart_n of_o all_o that_o embrace_v it_o there_o be_v no_o commendable_a property_n in_o the_o reprobate_n and_o unprofitable_a hearer_n but_o it_o be_v find_v in_o the_o elect_a and_o profitable_a hearer_n and_o that_o in_o a_o more_o excellent_a manner_n and_o therefore_o those_o who_o be_v nothing_o move_v nor_o comfort_v by_o the_o word_n be_v worse_o than_o some_o bad_a hearer_n and_o must_v not_o be_v reckon_v in_o the_o number_n of_o good_a hearer_n notwithstanding_o in_o this_o description_n of_o these_o good_a hearer_n we_o may_v perceive_v that_o in_o diverse_a other_o thing_n they_o differ_v much_o from_o all_o the_o former_a hearer_n and_o therein_o do_v great_o exceed_v and_o excel_v they_o all_o they_o be_v describe_v by_o three_o property_n and_o by_o they_o all_o they_o differ_v from_o the_o rest_n 1._o by_o the_o manner_n of_o receive_v the_o word_n they_o receive_v it_o with_o a_o honest_a and_o good_a heart_n 2._o by_o the_o manner_n of_o retain_v it_o they_o keep_v it_o 3._o by_o the_o manner_n of_o practise_v it_o they_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n and_o that_o with_o patience_n and_o plenty_n touch_v the_o first_o property_n 2._o thing_n may_v be_v note_v the_o one_o more_o genenerall_a and_o that_o be_v the_o instrument_n of_o hear_v it_o be_v with_o the_o heart_n the_o other_o more_o special_a and_o that_o be_v the_o quality_n and_o disposition_n of_o their_o heart_n it_o be_v a_o honest_a and_o good_a heart_n 1._o concern_v the_o former_a we_o may_v hence_o observe_v that_o those_o who_o will_v be_v profitable_a hearer_n of_o god_n most_o holy_a word_n must_v hear_v it_o with_o their_o heart_n not_o only_o with_o their_o ear_n to_o harken_v unto_o the_o sound_n of_o it_o while_o it_o be_v utter_v nor_o only_a with_o their_o head_n to_o understand_v that_o which_o be_v deliver_v but_o likewise_o with_o their_o heart_n to_o keep_v it_o and_o obey_v it_o the_o lord_n require_v of_o the_o 6._o jew_n that_o the_o word_n which_o he_o command_v they_o shall_v hear_v those_o man_n which_o have_v bad_a heart_n before_o they_o come_v to_o hear_v and_o still_o have_v bad_a heart_n all_o the_o time_n of_o their_o hear_n and_o go_v away_o with_o as_o bad_a heart_n as_o they_o bring_v with_o they_o shall_v never_o reap_v profit_n by_o their_o hear_n but_o if_o their_o heatte_n be_v bad_a before_o yet_o be_v change_v and_o sanctify_v by_o their_o hear_n they_o be_v profitable_a and_o fruitful_a hearer_n the_o heart_n of_o those_o three_o thousand_o which_o be_v convert_v by_o one_o of_o peter_n sermon_n be_v not_o good_a till_o they_o hear_v 42._o but_o to_o the_o bad_a a_o bitter_a and_o loathsome_a taste_n though_o this_o be_v uncertain_a augustine_n once_o write_v it_o for_o certainty_n but_o afterward_o doubt_v of_o it_o because_o he_o can_v find_v no_o warrant_n for_o it_o but_o only_o in_o apocrypha_fw-la yet_o the_o like_a may_v be_v see_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n our_o heavenly_a manna_n it_o taste_v it_o nourish_v and_o profit_v the_o hearer_n according_a to_o the_o several_a disposition_n of_o their_o heart_n to_o they_o which_o have_v good_a heart_n it_o be_v sweet_a comfortable_a and_o profitable_a to_o they_o which_o have_v corrupt_a heart_n it_o be_v loathsome_a terrible_a and_o unprofitable_a this_o shall_v teach_v every_o one_o of_o we_o 1._o to_o look_v to_o our_o heart_n and_o see_v that_o they_o be_v good_a that_o so_o we_o may_v be_v fruitful_a hearer_n husbandman_n have_v great_a care_n to_o make_v their_o ground_n good_a and_o fertile_a before_o they_o sow_v it_o if_o it_o be_v barren_a they_o will_v mark_v it_o they_o will_v set_v muck_n and_o dung_n on_o it_o to_o make_v it_o more_o fruitful_a as_o careful_a shall_v thou_o be_v to_o make_v thy_o heart_n good_a see_v it_o be_v the_o soil_n in_o which_o the_o lord_n heavenly_a seed_n must_v be_v sow_v if_o it_o be_v not_o good_a already_o use_v all_o good_a mean_n to_o make_v it_o good_a pray_v earnest_o unto_o god_n that_o he_o will_v sanctify_v it_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n and_o if_o it_o be_v good_a labour_v to_o make_v it_o better_o the_o better_a it_o be_v the_o more_o fruitful_a shall_v thy_o hear_n be_v and_o for_o this_o purpose_n hear_v the_o word_n often_o for_o it_o will_v make_v thy_o heart_n better_o the_o long_a that_o the_o ground_n of_o your_o field_n be_v till_v and_o sow_v the_o more_o bare_a and_o barren_a it_o will_v be_v but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o with_o the_o ground_n of_o your_o heart_n the_o often_o and_o the_o long_o they_o be_v sow_v with_o the_o seed_n of_o god_n word_n the_o more_o fruitful_a will_v they_o be_v such_o be_v the_o nature_n of_o this_o heavenly_a seed_n that_o it_o will_v not_o make_v the_o ground_n more_o barren_a but_o more_o fertile_a by_o often_o sow_v as_o the_o seed_n be_v good_a that_o be_v sow_v in_o your_o heart_n so_o let_v the_o soil_n be_v make_v answerable_a unto_o it_o and_o then_o you_o need_v not_o to_o doubt_v of_o a_o plentiful_a increase_n let_v not_o so_o good_a seed_n be_v lose_v by_o light_v into_o bad_a soil_n hear_v with_o penitent_a heart_n with_o sanctify_a heart_n with_o believe_v heart_n with_o resolve_a heart_n to_o receive_v and_o obey_v whatsoever_o be_v teach_v out_o of_o the_o word_n and_o you_o shall_v be_v happy_a hearer_n 2._o furthermore_o we_o may_v hereby_o discern_v 2._o who_o have_v good_a heart_n who_o have_v bad_a it_o be_v the_o goodness_n of_o the_o heart_n that_o make_v the_o hearer_n to_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n it_o be_v the_o corruption_n of_o the_o heart_n that_o hinder_v his_o fruitfulness_n those_o than_o that_o hear_v much_o and_o practice_v little_a have_v bad_a heart_n but_o those_o that_o hear_v and_o practice_v the_o word_n in_o their_o life_n have_v honest_a and_o good_a heart_n though_o none_o know_v the_o heart_n of_o another_o immediate_o and_o direct_o but_o god_n alone_o who_o be_v the_o only_a searcher_n of_o it_o yet_o as_o the_o physician_n can_v judge_v of_o the_o inward_a temperature_n of_o the_o body_n by_o the_o pulse_n and_o as_o we_o may_v judge_v of_o the_o tree_n by_o the_o fruit_n so_o may_v we_o judge_v of_o the_o inward_a goodness_n and_o badness_n of_o the_o heart_n by_o the_o outward_a behaviour_n in_o the_o life_n and_o to_o keep_v i_o to_o the_o present_a comparison_n of_o this_o parable_n if_o a_o man_n know_v a_o field_n sow_v in_o a_o good_a sort_n with_o good_a seed_n yet_o afterward_o do_v see_v the_o corn_n to_o be_v thin_a and_o course_n and_o yield_v no_o good_a crop_n he_o will_v say_v the_o ground_n be_v barren_a but_o if_o he_o pass_v by_o a_o close_a towards_o harvest_n time_n and_o see_v the_o corn_n very_o thick_a and_o rank_a and_o bear_v a_o long_a ear_n full_a of_o corn_n he_o will_v say_v it_o be_v good_a land_n so_o if_o we_o know_v people_n to_o be_v well_o teach_v and_o yet_o yield_v little_a obedience_n in_o their_o life_n we_o may_v just_o suspect_v that_o their_o heart_n be_v not_o upright_o before_o god_n but_o if_o we_o see_v they_o reform_v their_o life_n according_a to_o the_o word_n avoid_v those_o sin_n which_o it_o forbid_v and_o practice_v those_o duty_n which_o it_o commend_v and_o that_o in_o a_o constant_a course_n of_o their_o conversation_n we_o may_v be_v assure_v that_o their_o heart_n be_v honest_a and_o good_a if_o therefore_o you_o will_v have_v other_o to_o think_v that_o you_o have_v honest_a and_o good_a heart_n show_v forth_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o word_n in_o your_o life_n the_o second_o special_a property_n in_o these_o hearer_n be_v their_o keep_n of_o the_o word_n they_o do_v not_o only_o receive_v it_o with_o their_o heart_n and_o lay_v it_o up_o in_o the_o bottom_n of_o they_o but_o likewise_o there_o they_o keep_v it_o fast_o they_o will_v not_o let_v it_o go_v locum_fw-la out_o thence_o nor_o suffer_v any_o to_o take_v it_o from_o they_o the_o original_a word_n as_o some_o have_v observe_v be_v very_o emphatical_a and_o import_v a_o keep_n with_o much_o labour_n and_o difficulty_n and_o so_o fit_o express_v the_o manner_n of_o their_o keep_n which_o be_v with_o strive_v and_o struggle_v against_o their_o own_o corruption_n against_o satan_n suggestion_n and_o against_o the_o world_n allurement_n though_o all_o conspire_v and_o join_v their_o force_n together_o yet_o do_v they_o keep_v it_o

so_o shall_v you_o be_v able_a to_o keep_v they_o for_o ever_o wherefore_o be_v careful_a to_o use_v these_o mean_n what_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o people_n hear_v much_o and_o keep_v little_a but_o be_v like_a to_o bottomless_a barrel_n which_o let_v water_n run_v out_o as_o fast_o as_o it_o be_v pour_v in_o that_o of_o all_o the_o sermon_n which_o they_o have_v hear_v in_o their_o whole_a life_n time_n they_o have_v scarce_o the_o abridgement_n of_o one_o leave_v in_o their_o heart_n or_o head_n for_o their_o direction_n and_o consolation_n but_o even_o because_o they_o have_v neglect_v these_o mean_n use_v they_o hereafter_o and_o you_o shall_v find_v how_o well_o they_o will_v make_v you_o able_a to_o keep_v that_o which_o you_o hear_v and_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n the_o three_o and_o last_o property_n in_o these_o hearer_n be_v this_o they_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n and_o this_o be_v another_o special_a difference_n betwixt_o they_o and_o all_o the_o rest_n for_o the_o rest_n either_o bring_v forth_o no_o fruit_n at_o all_o as_o the_o first_o sort_n or_o but_o for_o a_o time_n as_o the_o second_o or_o imperfect_a fruit_n and_o in_o some_o thing_n only_o as_o the_o three_o but_o these_o bring_v forth_o not_o for_o a_o while_n but_o continual_o not_o in_o some_o thing_n only_o but_o in_o all_o and_o that_o type_n and_o perfect_a fruit_n if_o good_a seed_n be_v sow_v in_o good_a ground_n it_o usual_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n for_o the_o use_n of_o they_o which_o owe_v it_o and_o sow_v it_o so_o if_o some_o doctrine_n be_v preach_v and_o people_n hear_v it_o with_o good_a heart_n it_o will_v bring_v forth_o fruit_n in_o their_o life_n these_o fruit_n be_v bring_v forth_o not_o by_o profession_n but_o by_o practice_n and_o do_v consist_v not_o so_o much_o in_o word_n as_o in_o deed_n and_o therefore_o paul_n pray_v that_o the_o philippian_n may_v be_v fill_v with_o the_o fruit_n of_o righteousness_n and_o that_o the_o colossian_n may_v please_v god_n in_o all_o 11_o thing_n be_v fruitful_a in_o all_o good_a work_n and_o he_o say_v of_o the_o roman_n that_o they_o 10._o be_v free_v from_o sin_n and_o make_v seruaant_n unto_o god_n have_v their_o fruit_n in_o holiness_n so_o that_o this_o fruit_n can_v 22._o be_v understand_v of_o the_o reward_n which_o the_o saint_n receive_v in_o heaven_n but_o of_o the_o obedience_n which_o they_o perform_v on_o earth_n for_o that_o be_v a_o fruit_n which_o they_o receyve_v this_o be_v a_o fruit_n which_o they_o bring_v forth_o that_o they_o receive_v from_o god_n this_o they_o yield_v unto_o god_n that_o be_v a_o fruit_n of_o glory_n this_o be_v a_o fruit_n of_o grace_n see_v then_o the_o disposition_n of_o these_o good_a hearer_n they_o do_v not_o only_o hear_v the_o word_n with_o their_o ear_n and_o understand_v it_o with_o their_o mind_n and_o keep_v it_o in_o their_o heart_n but_o they_o do_v also_o practice_v it_o in_o their_o life_n this_o be_v the_o chief_a end_n of_o all_o the_o rest_n therefore_o do_v they_o hear_v it_o and_o learn_v it_o and_o keep_v it_o in_o their_o heart_n that_o they_o may_v order_v their_o life_n by_o it_o and_o practice_v it_o when_o occasion_n be_v offer_v happy_a be_v all_o those_o which_o thus_o hear_v for_o as_o james_n say_v who_o so_o look_v into_o 25_o the_o perfect_a law_n of_o liberty_n and_o continue_v therein_o he_o not_o be_v a_o forgetful_a hearer_n but_o a_o doer_n of_o the_o work_n shall_v be_v bless_v in_o his_o deed_n if_o therefore_o you_o will_v have_v your_o hear_n to_o be_v acceptable_a to_o god_n and_o comfortable_a to_o your_o own_o soul_n let_v it_o end_v in_o obedience_n ground_n that_o be_v sow_v with_o good_a seed_n though_o it_o shoot_v forth_o a_o broad_a and_o rank_a blade_n will_v not_o voluptuous_a live_n from_o all_o which_o together_o we_o may_v learn_v that_o noisome_a lust_n and_o bad_a affection_n in_o the_o heart_n do_v great_o hinder_v the_o fruitful_a hear_n of_o god_n word_n yea_o though_o the_o heart_n be_v much_o move_v with_o the_o word_n for_o a_o time_n and_o be_v very_o like_a to_o profit_v by_o hear_v and_o the_o hearer_n have_v a_o purpose_n to_o follow_v the_o word_n yet_o corrupt_a affection_n of_o care_n covetousness_n and_o voluptuousness_n will_v hinder_v the_o fruitfulness_n of_o the_o word_n as_o thorn_n be_v to_o ground_n that_o be_v sow_v so_o be_v these_o affection_n to_o the_o hearer_n of_o god_n word_n you_o know_v that_o although_o the_o soil_n be_v reasonable_a good_a of_o itself_o yet_o if_o thorn_n grow_v among_o the_o corn_n they_o will_v not_o suffer_v the_o ground_n to_o yield_v any_o good_a crop_n so_o if_o hearer_n have_v indifferent_a good_a mind_n of_o themselves_o especial_o if_o some_o froward_a affection_n be_v expel_v yet_o so_o long_o as_o those_o affection_n remain_v in_o

offend_v he_o 2._o again_o as_o some_o have_v err_v in_o take_v those_o to_o be_v fruit_n which_o be_v not_o so_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n some_o have_v err_v in_o take_v those_o to_o be_v no_o fruit_n which_o indeed_o be_v good_a fruit_n know_v you_o that_o the_o practice_n of_o every_o duty_n command_v in_o the_o word_n be_v good_a fruit_n notwithstanding_o as_o there_o be_v diverse_a kind_n of_o seed_n some_o of_o one_o grain_n some_o of_o another_o &_o also_o diverse_a kind_n of_o fruit_n some_o of_o one_o grain_n some_o of_o another_o so_o there_o be_v diverse_a kind_n of_o doctrine_n &_o diverse_a kind_n of_o duty_n and_o as_o all_o field_n be_v not_o sow_v with_o the_o same_o grain_n but_o some_o with_o one_o kind_n some_o with_o another_o as_o they_o will_v best_o
