ourselves_o to_o be_v condemn_v man_n that_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o we_o to_o help_v ourselves_o we_o must_v be_v break_v in_o heart_n in_o some_o measure_n we_o must_v see_v ourselves_o to_o be_v child_n of_o wrath_n and_o then_o we_o will_v come_v and_o seek_v for_o a_o remedy_n and_o that_o

oppose_v to_o that_o which_o be_v vain_a and_o empty_a to_o that_o which_o be_v but_o a_o name_n a_o shadow_n of_o it_o but_o be_v not_o such_o a_o thing_n indeed_o so_o faith_n be_v say_v to_o be_v effectual_a when_o it_o be_v true_a real_a and_o substantial_a you_o know_v there_o be_v empty_a cloud_n simile_n we_o see_v the_o heaven_n many_o time_n full_a of_o cloud_n but_o there_o be_v no_o rain_n follove_n they_o be_v drive_v away_o with_o the_o wind_n they_o be_v empty_a cloud_n they_o be_v not_o cloud_n indeed_o so_o there_o be_v a_o great_a show_n of_o faith_n sometime_o that_o make_v a_o man_n show_v like_o these_o cloud_n and_o yet_o it_o be_v vain_a and_o empty_a no_o rain_n follow_v simile_n a_o counterfeit_a piece_n although_o it_o show_v to_o be_v good_a money_n yet_o when_o we_o find_v it_o counterfeit_n when_o we_o find_v it_o clip_v we_o cast_v it_o away_o so_o true_a faith_n be_v say_v to_o be_v effectual_a when_o it_o be_v oppose_v to_o vain_a faith_n in_o motion_n by_o action_n by_o do_v somewhat_o or_o other_o and_o in_o this_o sense_n faith_n be_v say_v to_o be_v effectual_a when_o it_o be_v a_o stir_a faith_n when_o it_o be_v a_o lively_a and_o fruitful_a faith_n that_o be_v do_v somewhat_o in_o the_o soul_n of_o a_o man_n hand_n last_o of_o all_o a_o thing_n be_v say_v to_o be_v effectual_a when_o it_o go_v thorough_a with_o the_o work_n that_o it_o have_v in_o hand_n this_o differ_v from_o that_o which_o i_o name_v first_o therefore_o the_o greek_a word_n that_o be_v render_v effectualness_n signify_v perfectness_n to_o bring_v a_o when_o it_o leap_v over_o all_o difficulty_n so_o that_o a_o grow_a prevail_a overcome_v faith_n that_o be_v say_v to_o be_v a_o effectual_a faith_n such_o a_o faith_n as_o leave_v not_o the_o work_n half_o do_v such_o a_o faith_n as_o leave_v not_o the_o build_n in_o the_o beginning_n in_o the_o rudiment_n but_o set_v it_o up_o and_o put_v the_o roof_n upon_o it_o such_o a_o faith_n which_o though_o it_o may_v sink_v as_o a_o cork_n for_o a_o time_n yet_o it_o rise_v again_o such_o a_o faith_n as_o overcome_v and_o perfect_v the_o work_n of_o our_o salvation_n in_o this_o sense_n faith_n they_o be_v not_o fit_a for_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n that_o be_v they_o be_v not_o thorough_o prepare_v for_o it_o that_o be_v to_o say_v when_o a_o man_n be_v not_o thorough_o humble_v to_o know_v what_o sin_n be_v and_o what_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v he_o be_v not_o fit_a for_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n but_o if_o he_o do_v come_v to_o christ_n if_o he_o do_v begin_v to_o not_o have_v be_v fit_a for_o canaan_n so_o in_o this_o case_n if_o a_o man_n will_v take_v christ_n it_o be_v a_o laborious_a work_n as_o laborious_a as_o husbandry_n as_o laborious_a as_o put_v the_o hand_n to_o the_o blow_n as_o take_v the_o yoke_n now_o before_o a_o man_n have_v feel_v how_o hard_o the_o yoke_n be_v that_o he_o have_v already_o for_o there_o be_v many_o that_o wear_v the_o yoke_n of_o satan_n and_o see_v no_o hardness_n in_o it_o but_o go_v
in_o a_o fair_a course_n their_o conscience_n be_v not_o wound_v with_o the_o sense_n of_o their_o sin_n they_o never_o have_v affliction_n wherein_o they_o taste_v the_o wrath_n of_o god_n alas_o such_o man_n may_v come_v to_o put_v their_o hand_n to_o the_o blow_n but_o when_o they_o come_v to_o see_v what_o work_n they_o have_v in_o hand_n they_o go_v back_o they_o be_v not_o fit_a for_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n till_o a_o man_n be_v weary_a and_o heavy_a lade_v with_o the_o burden_n of_o satan_n till_o he_o see_v satan_n yoke_n to_o be_v intolerable_a he_o will_v never_o convince_v of_o their_o sin_n that_o they_o prize_v i_o indeed_o so_o that_o they_o hold_v i_o and_o will_v not_o let_v i_o go_v for_o any_o thing_n but_o they_o be_v content_a to_o let_v all_o go_v rather_o than_o i_o such_o a_o man_n be_v worthy_a of_o i_o such_o a_o man_n prize_v and_o esteem_v i_o and_o your_o peace_n shall_v come_v upon_o he_o that_o be_v it_o shall_v come_v effectual_o upon_o he_o it_o shall_v abide_v with_o he_o and_o save_v his_o soul_n for_o ever_o so_o i_o say_v when_o there_o be_v so_o much_o humiliation_n wrought_v in_o the_o heart_n when_o the_o spirit_n so_o far_o convince_v a_o man_n of_o sin_n that_o he_o come_v thus_o to_o prize_n christ_n this_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n wherein_o effectual_a faith_n consist_v for_o though_o it_o be_v not_o the_o well_o build_v if_o he_o see_v not_o just_a ground_n to_o take_v he_o if_o his_o understanding_n shall_v not_o see_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o promise_n so_o clear_o that_o he_o can_v build_v on_o it_o that_o he_o can_v rest_v on_o it_o that_o all_o the_o argument_n in_o the_o world_n can_v draw_v he_o from_o it_o again_o his_o faith_n will_v not_o be_v effectual_a therefore_o the_o second_o thing_n wherein_o the_o effectualness_n of_o faith_n consist_v be_v to_o have_v it_o well_o build_v in_o the_o mind_n and_o understanding_n of_o a_o man_n when_o he_o clear_o see_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o promise_n that_o he_o can_v build_v upon_o it_o infallible_o for_o your_o better_a understanding_n of_o this_o build_v you_o must_v know_v that_o then_o a_o man_n be_v say_v to_o be_v well_o build_v to_o be_v root_v and_o ground_v in_o faith_n when_o he_o have_v the_o first_o ground_n right_a that_o so_o he_o proceed_v from_o one_o to_o another_o that_o it_o be_v not_o a_o confuse_a superficial_a knowledge_n to_o assent_v to_o the_o truth_n and_o promise_n that_o be_v deliver_v in_o the_o word_n but_o when_o he_o have_v a_o sure_a ground_n the_o first_o ground_n and_o the_o next_o and_o so_o he_o proceed_v along_o general_n as_o for_o example_n the_o first_o thing_n that_o a_o man_n must_v do_v be_v to_o believe_v the_o scripture_n to_o know_v that_o they_o be_v true_a and_o infallible_a that_o they_o be_v the_o sure_a word_n of_o god_n when_o a_o man_n can_v say_v this_o i_o know_v particular_a and_o this_o i_o build_v upon_o and_o beside_o that_o than_o we_o look_v upon_o the_o promise_n which_o the_o scripture_n contain_v wherein_o christ_n and_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n be_v offer_v now_o if_o the_o first_o ground_n fail_v you_o that_o be_v the_o bottom_n upon_o which_o the_o promise_n stand_v therefore_o have_v that_o sure_a when_o that_o be_v sure_a you_o must_v have_v the_o promise_n sure_a that_o be_v you_o must_v consider_v the_o promise_n and_o examine_v they_o and_o see_v if_o this_o be_v the_o sense_n of_o the_o scripture_n if_o there_o be_v so_o much_o light_n in_o you_o as_o to_o say_v i_o find_v it_o so_o i_o find_v the_o scripture_n true_a i_o believe_v they_o i_o find_v these_o promise_n in_o the_o scripture_n christ._n i_o find_v christ_n offer_v to_o every_o creature_n under_o heaven_n i_o find_v that_o i_o have_v a_o warrant_n to_o
