for_o his_o doctrine_n of_o the_o resurrection_n some_o will_v hear_v he_o again_o as_o if_o they_o be_v not_o full_o resolve_v but_o desire_v to_o be_v further_o instruct_v yet_o certain_a man_n do_v sincere_o teach_v it_o will_v in_o time_n win_v some_o though_o some_o continue_v obstinate_a and_o remain_v as_o ignorant_a as_o popish_a and_o as_o profane_v as_o ever_o they_o be_v before_o they_o hear_v yet_o wisdom_n shall_v be_v iustify_v of_o her_o child_n as_o many_o as_o be_v ordain_v to_o eternal_a life_n shall_v believe_v some_o shall_v be_v call_v and_o by_o hear_v shall_v grow_v in_o knowledge_n in_o grace_n and_o obedience_n this_o may_v comfort_v and_o encourage_v we_o in_o our_o labour_n though_o it_o be_v some_o grief_n to_o see_v many_o non_fw-la proficient_o who_o hear_v much_o and_o be_v never_o the_o better_o yet_o if_o it_o please_v the_o lord_n to_o give_v some_o happy_a issue_n unto_o our_o labour_n that_o we_o edify_v some_o though_o not_o all_o that_o we_o the_o rest_n either_o bring_v forth_o no_o fruit_n at_o all_o as_o the_o first_o sort_n or_o but_o for_o a_o time_n as_o the_o second_o or_o imperfect_a fruit_n and_o in_o some_o thing_n only_o as_o the_o three_o but_o these_o bring_v forth_o not_o for_o a_o while_n but_o continual_o not_o in_o some_o thing_n only_o but_o in_o all_o and_o that_o type_n and_o perfect_a fruit_n if_o good_a seed_n be_v sow_v in_o good_a ground_n it_o usual_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n for_o the_o use_n of_o they_o which_o owe_v it_o and_o sow_v it_o so_o if_o some_o doctrine_n be_v preach_v and_o people_n hear_v it_o with_o good_a heart_n it_o will_v bring_v forth_o fruit_n in_o their_o life_n these_o fruit_n be_v bring_v forth_o not_o by_o profession_n but_o by_o practice_n and_o do_v consist_v not_o so_o much_o in_o word_n as_o in_o deed_n and_o therefore_o paul_n pray_v that_o the_o philippian_n may_v be_v fill_v with_o the_o fruit_n of_o righteousness_n and_o that_o the_o colossian_n may_v please_v god_n in_o all_o 11_o thing_n be_v fruitful_a in_o all_o good_a work_n and_o he_o say_v of_o the_o roman_n that_o they_o 10._o be_v free_v from_o sin_n and_o make_v seruaant_n unto_o god_n have_v their_o fruit_n in_o holiness_n so_o that_o this_o fruit_n can_v 22._o be_v understand_v of_o the_o reward_n which_o the_o saint_n receive_v in_o heaven_n but_o of_o the_o obedience_n which_o they_o perform_v on_o earth_n for_o that_o be_v a_o fruit_n which_o they_o receyve_v this_o be_v a_o fruit_n which_o they_o bring_v forth_o that_o they_o receive_v from_o god_n this_o they_o yield_v unto_o god_n that_o be_v a_o fruit_n of_o glory_n this_o be_v a_o fruit_n of_o grace_n see_v then_o the_o disposition_n of_o these_o good_a hearer_n they_o do_v not_o only_o hear_v the_o word_n with_o their_o ear_n and_o understand_v it_o with_o their_o mind_n and_o keep_v it_o in_o their_o heart_n but_o they_o do_v also_o practice_v it_o in_o their_o life_n this_o be_v the_o chief_a end_n of_o all_o the_o rest_n therefore_o do_v they_o hear_v it_o and_o learn_v it_o and_o keep_v it_o in_o their_o heart_n that_o they_o may_v order_v their_o life_n by_o it_o and_o practice_v it_o when_o occasion_n be_v offer_v happy_a be_v all_o those_o which_o thus_o hear_v for_o as_o james_n say_v who_o so_o look_v into_o 25_o the_o perfect_a law_n of_o liberty_n and_o continue_v therein_o he_o without_o practice_n and_o can_v you_o think_v that_o your_o knowledge_n in_o matter_n of_o religion_n will_v profit_v you_o any_o whit_n without_o practice_n and_o indeed_o we_o learn_v no_o more_o than_o we_o practise_v as_o that_o pambo_n acknowledge_v who_o hear_v the_o first_o verse_n of_o the_o 39_o psalm_n i_o say_v i_o will_v take_v heed_n to_o my_o 18._o way_n lest_o i_o offend_v with_o not_o care_v not_o much_o for_o it_o let_v it_o pass_v as_o it_o come_v and_o be_v think_v of_o some_o other_o matter_n while_o they_o shall_v attend_v to_o it_o who_o be_v so_o far_o from_o lay_v it_o deep_a in_o their_o 19_o heart_n as_o they_o will_v not_o suffer_v it_o long_o to_o continue_v in_o their_o head_n of_o these_o person_n do_v christ_n here_o speak_v for_o he_o note_v it_o as_o doctrine_n on_o a_o article_n of_o their_o faith_n discuss_v they_o conceive_v little_a and_o afterward_o can_v rehearse_v nothing_o at_o all_o so_o that_o in_o they_o be_v fulfil_v that_o prophecy_n and_o so_o they_o prove_v themselves_o to_o be_v no_o good_a hearer_n some_o say_v they_o be_v not_o learned_a they_o be_v of_o a_o dull_a capacity_n yet_o they_o have_v a_o good_a meaning_n and_o as_o good_a a_o heart_n as_o those_o who_o understand_v most_o they_o hope_v god_n will_v bear_v with_o they_o and_o accept_v of_o their_o good_a meaning_n when_o as_o they_o shall_v rather_o accuse_v themselves_o of_o negligence_n if_o they_o do_v due_o prepare_v themselves_o and_o careful_o attend_v they_o may_v understand_v much_o more_o than_o they_o do_v but_o let_v they_o first_o know_v that_o though_o they_o be_v not_o learned_a and_o can_v read_v yet_o ought_v they_o and_o may_v be_v able_a to_o understand_v for_o god_n have_v furnish_v preacher_n with_o learning_n and_o appoint_v they_o so_o to_o explain_v the_o word_n that_o the_o simple_a may_v understand_v it_o even_o as_o ezra_n and_o the_o levite_n read_v the_o book_n of_o the_o law_n 8._o distinct_o and_o give_v the_o themselves_o those_o be_v hinder_v in_o their_o perseverance_n and_o fruitfulness_n through_o the_o want_n of_o good_a these_o through_o the_o have_v of_o evil_n even_o sinful_a lust_n and_o bad_a affection_n in_o their_o heart_n which_o like_a thorn_n choke_v the_o word_n which_o they_o hear_v those_o renounce_v their_o profession_n these_o keep_v their_o profession_n and_o yet_o be_v unfruitful_a these_o hearer_n be_v not_o all_o alike_o for_o though_o the_o word_n be_v choke_v in_o they_o all_o yet_o it_o be_v not_o choke_v in_o all_o by_o the_o same_o cause_n &_o mean_n in_o some_o it_o be_v choke_v by_o worldly_a care_n in_o other_o by_o the_o deceitfulnes_n of_o riches_n and_o in_o the_o rest_n by_o voluptuousness_n and_o therefore_o touch_v these_o hearer_n we_o may_v their_o heart_n be_v set_v as_o thorny_a ground_n may_v have_v some_o good_a moist_a mould_n and_o depth_n of_o soil_n and_o cause_v the_o seed_n sow_v in_o it_o to_o sprout_v and_o come_v up_o but_o of_o it_o these_o be_v unprofitable_a hearer_n the_o word_n which_o they_o hear_v will_v not_o save_v their_o soul_n man_n may_v often_o hear_v after_o this_o manner_n and_o yet_o never_o come_v to_o the_o word_n yet_o corrupt_a affection_n of_o care_n covetousness_n and_o voluptuousness_n will_v hinder_v the_o fruitfulness_n of_o the_o word_n as_o thorn_n be_v to_o ground_n that_o be_v sow_v so_o be_v these_o affection_n to_o the_o hearer_n of_o god_n word_n you_o know_v that_o although_o the_o soil_n be_v reasonable_a good_a of_o itself_o yet_o if_o thorn_n grow_v among_o the_o corn_n they_o will_v not_o suffer_v the_o ground_n to_o yield_v any_o good_a crop_n so_o if_o hearer_n have_v indifferent_a good_a mind_n of_o themselves_o especial_o if_o some_o froward_a affection_n be_v expel_v yet_o so_o long_o as_o those_o affection_n remain_v in_o

a_o better_a manner_n and_o with_o better_a use_n 1._o they_o agree_v with_o they_o in_o that_o they_o hear_v as_o well_o as_o the_o rest_n all_o the_o person_n speak_v of_o in_o this_o parable_n be_v hearer_n both_o good_a and_o bad_a and_o they_o all_o hear_v one_o and_o the_o same_o doctrine_n though_o not_o after_o one_o and_o the_o same_o manner_n nor_o with_o the_o like_a efficacy_n and_o fruit_n and_o therefore_o those_o which_o refuse_v to_o hear_v either_o through_o error_n as_o our_o recusant_n or_o through_o contempt_n and_o negligence_n as_o some_o careless_a and_o carnal_a can_v they_o practice_v that_o which_o they_o understand_v not_o 3._o they_o agree_v in_o their_o affection_n to_o the_o word_n those_o that_o be_v as_o stony_a ground_n receive_v the_o word_n with_o joy_n so_o also_o do_v these_o good_a hearer_n though_o the_o thing_n itself_o be_v not_o express_o mention_v the_o gospel_n be_v glad_a tiding_n and_o rejoice_v the_o heart_n of_o all_o that_o embrace_v it_o there_o be_v no_o commendable_a property_n in_o the_o reprobate_n and_o unprofitable_a hearer_n but_o it_o be_v find_v in_o the_o elect_a and_o profitable_a hearer_n and_o that_o in_o a_o more_o excellent_a manner_n and_o therefore_o those_o who_o be_v nothing_o move_v nor_o comfort_v by_o the_o word_n be_v worse_o than_o some_o bad_a hearer_n and_o must_v not_o be_v reckon_v in_o the_o number_n of_o good_a hearer_n notwithstanding_o in_o this_o description_n of_o these_o good_a hearer_n we_o may_v perceive_v that_o in_o diverse_a other_o thing_n they_o differ_v much_o from_o of_o their_o body_n on_o work_n to_o practice_v it_o 4._o last_o the_o heart_n be_v the_o safe_a place_n for_o it_o as_o swoon_v corn_n if_o it_o lie_v on_o the_o top_n of_o the_o furrow_n may_v let_v not_o thy_o heart_n be_v think_v on_o any_o by-matter_n but_o only_o attend_v to_o that_o hear_v with_o thy_o heart_n as_o well_o as_o with_o thy_o ear_n and_o then_o shall_v thou_o be_v bless_v by_o thy_o hear_n 2._o again_o note_v hence_o more_o special_o the_o quality_n and_o disposition_n of_o their_o heart_n who_o hear_v profitable_o they_o hear_v with_o a_o honest_a and_o good_a heart_n it_o be_v not_o any_o kind_n of_o heart_n that_o will_v make_v your_o hear_n profitable_a it_o must_v be_v a_o honest_a and_o good_a heart_n though_o thou_o shall_v hear_v with_o thy_o heart_n as_o well_o as_o with_o thy_o ear_n yet_o unless_o it_o be_v a_o good_a heart_n it_o will_v little_o avail_v thou_o for_o in_o the_o goodness_n of_o the_o heart_n consist_v a_o main_a difference_n betwixt_o these_o hearer_n and_o some_o of_o the_o former_a those_o which_o be_v compare_v to_o stony_a ground_n do_v hear_v with_o their_o heart_n for_o they_o be_v say_v not_o only_o to_o hear_v but_o also_o to_o receive_v the_o word_n with_o joy_n yet_o be_v they_o not_o good_a and_o honest_a heart_n they_o be_v hard_a and_o stony_a and_o will_v not_o suffer_v the_o word_n to_o take_v root_a deep_a enough_o and_o those_o that_o be_v resemble_v to_o thorny_a ground_n do_v hear_v with_o their_o heart_n yet_o be_v their_o heart_n not_o good_a they_o be_v full_a of_o worldly_a care_n and_o
