promise_n that_o god_n will_v have_v mercy_n on_o such_o penitent_n and_o will_v abundant_o pardon_v they_o that_o he_o will_v interest_n they_o in_o the_o sure_a mercy_n of_o david_n ver._n 3._o or_o in_o all_o the_o blessing_n of_o the_o everlasting_a covenant_n by_o christ_n it_o be_v of_o he_o you_o must_v understand_v ver._n 4_o 5_o 6._o of_o who_o david_n be_v only_o a_o type_n behold_v i_o and_o work_n and_o the_o high_a assurance_n of_o the_o truth_n of_o all_o this_o be_v add_v from_o a_o divine_a testimony_n annex_v thus_o say_v the_o lord_n he_o who_o best_o know_v his_o own_o gracious_a design_n have_v tell_v we_o this_o and_o by_o our_o believe_v it_o we_o set_v to_o our_o seal_n that_o god_n be_v true_a several_a thing_n may_v be_v observe_v as_o proper_a to_o be_v discourse_v of_o from_o these_o word_n first_o that_o if_o ever_o sinner_n find_v mercy_n with_o god_n they_o must_v forsake_v their_o former_a evil_a way_n and_o course_n of_o life_n second_o that_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o for_o such_o to_o to_o reform_v their_o outward_a practice_n and_o forsake_v their_o evil_a way_n but_o they_o must_v be_v change_v and_o sanctify_v in_o heart_n their_o evil_a thought_n must_v be_v forsake_v three_o that_o it_o be_v not_o sufficient_a to_o turn_v from_o sin_n and_o wickedness_n in_o heart_n and_o life_n without_o return_v unto_o god_n four_o that_o the_o worst_a of_o sinner_n be_v they_o wicked_a as_o to_o sin_n against_o god_n or_o unrighteous_a as_o to_o iniquity_n against_o man_n yet_o if_o they_o turn_v from_o their_o evil_a way_n and_o return_v to_o the_o lord_n they_o shall_v find_v mercy_n though_o you_o have_v sin_v as_o you_o think_v so_o as_o never_o any_o do_v before_o and_o condemn_v yourselves_o as_o the_o chief_a of_o sinner_n and_o have_v refuse_v the_o pardon_v mercy_n of_o god_n former_o offer_v etc._n etc._n all_o this_o may_v be_v forgive_v and_o it_o be_v imply_v that_o it_o shall_v be_v upon_o every_o new_a righteous_a and_o the_o wicked_a their_o course_n and_o way_n be_v different_a a_o good_a man_n may_v make_v a_o false_a step_n he_o may_v stumble_v or_o step_v out_o of_o the_o way_n in_o a_o particular_a instance_n but_o he_o do_v not_o work_v iniquity_n do_v not_o walk_v in_o the_o way_n of_o the_o ungodly_a his_o course_n and_o conversation_n for_o the_o main_a of_o it_o be_v no_o abstinence_n from_o gross_a pollution_n and_o disorder_n in_o the_o life_n will_v denominate_v we_o true_o penitent_a or_o give_v we_o hope_n of_o find_v mercy_n with_o god_n while_o we_o regard_v iniquity_n in_o our_o heart_n while_o the_o heart_n go_v after_o covetousness_n filthiness_n or_o any_o allow_a lust_n uunless_a the_o thought_n be_v change_v as_o well_o as_o the_o outward_a course_n unless_o the_o heart_n be_v sanctify_v as_o well_o as_o the_o conversation_n reform_v there_o be_v no_o forgiveness_n you_o know_v the_o woe_n which_o our_o saviour_n denounce_v against_o the_o pharise_n on_o this_o account_n mat._n xxiii_o 25._o who_o he_o characterise_v as_o hypocrite_n because_o they_o make_v clean_o the_o outside_n of_o the_o cup_n and_o platter_n but_o within_o be_v full_a of_o extortion_n and_o excess_n that_o like_v white_v sepulcher_n they_o appear_v beautiful_a outward_a but_o be_v within_o full_a of_o dead_a man_n bone_n and_o all_o uncleanness_n iii_o
