without_o your_o exhortation_n it_o be_v therefore_o say_v such_o as_o these_o altogether_o in_o vain_a to_o press_v man_n to_o duty_n till_o god_n work_v in_o they_o for_o all_o your_o exhortation_n be_v not_o sufficient_a till_o he_o work_v and_o when_o he_o work_v all_o your_o exhortation_n will_v be_v fruitless_a answ_n to_o this_o i_o answer_v and_o because_o it_o be_v the_o common_a plea_n of_o sinner_n why_o they_o do_v not_o work_v and_o it_o be_v that_o which_o questionless_a do_v too_o often_o rise_v in_o the_o heart_n and_o thought_n of_o most_o man_n whereby_o they_o be_v great_o receive_v it_o be_v for_o we_o and_o what_o he_o do_v be_v do_v by_o we_o and_o what_o he_o lose_v we_o lose_v in_o he_o now_o if_o we_o have_v lose_v this_o power_n of_o obey_v must_v god_n also_o lose_v his_o privilege_n and_o sovereignty_n of_o command_v must_v he_o lessen_v his_o authority_n as_o we_o lessen_v our_o ability_n true_o have_v adam_n once_o think_v of_o this_o slight_a he_o may_v have_v sin_v himself_o quite_o from_o under_o the_o command_n and_o dominion_n of_o his_o creator_n and_o may_v soon_o have_v become_v thus_o free_a do_v not_o you_o yourselves_o think_v you_o may_v if_o a_o debtor_n of_o you_o through_o his_o own_o default_n become_v a_o bankrupt_a require_v your_o debt_n of_o he_o so_o stand_v the_o case_n here_o between_o god_n and_o we_o we_o be_v all_o disable_v to_o pay_v the_o debt_n of_o obedience_n that_o we_o owe_v to_o god_n but_o yet_o it_o be_v through_o our_o own_o default_n and_o the_o power_n that_o we_o have_v be_v not_o so_o much_o lose_v as_o wilful_o throw_v away_o and_o may_v not_o god_n just_o come_v upon_o we_o for_o our_o debt_n our_o want_n of_o power_n take_v not_o off_o our_o obligation_n to_o obedience_n because_o it_o be_v through_o a_o wilful_a defect_n that_o we_o be_v deprive_v of_o that_o power_n if_o a_o servant_n throw_v away_o his_o tool_n with_o which_o he_o shall_v work_v may_v not_o his_o master_n just_o expect_v his_o work_n from_o he_o though_o he_o know_v he_o can_v work_v without_o they_o god_n command_n respect_v not_o the_o impotency_n that_o we_o have_v contract_v nor_o do_v they_o therefore_o of_o we_o if_o we_o can_v do_v nothing_o but_o without_o grace_n we_o can_v do_v nothing_o and_o therefore_o if_o grace_n be_v not_o bestow_v on_o we_o nothing_o can_v just_o be_v require_v from_o we_o and_o if_o nothing_o be_v require_v nothing_o be_v due_a from_o we_o and_o then_o we_o do_v not_o sin_n in_o not_o perform_v any_o thing_n and_o where_o there_o be_v no_o sin_n certain_o there_o can_v be_v no_o place_n for_o pardon_v grace_n and_o mercy_n and_o so_o these_o wise_a man_n who_o think_v they_o do_v so_o much_o befriend_v the_o grace_n and_o mercy_n of_o god_n in_o all_o haste_n in_o affirm_v that_o god_n require_v nothing_o from_o we_o but_o what_o at_o present_a we_o have_v power_n to_o perform_v be_v injurious_a to_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n in_o make_v of_o it_o void_a as_o to_o pardon_n and_o remission_n second_o this_o doctrine_n make_v the_o sanctify_a grace_n of_o god_n destructive_a and_o pernicious_a if_o god_n can_v require_v just_o no_o more_o of_o we_o than_o we_o can_v perform_v wherefore_o be_v it_o that_o man_n be_v just_o damn_v be_v it_o not_o because_o they_o will_v not_o do_v what_o they_o be_v able_a to_o do_v and_o whence_o be_v it_o that_o once_o be_v both_o easy_a and_o delightful_a second_o god_n love_v to_o deal_v with_o man_n as_o with_o rational_a creature_n that_o have_v free_a faculty_n capable_a of_o moral_a influence_n fit_a subject_n to_o be_v wrought_v upon_o by_o precept_n counsel_n command_n and_o exhortation_n as_o well_o as_o by_o internal_a and_o efficacious_a grace_n that_o argument_n and_o motive_n may_v persuade_v without_o as_o grace_n sway_v within_o that_o so_o by_o both_o he_o may_v render_v they_o a_o willing_a people_n in_o the_o day_n of_o his_o power_n and_o therefore_o they_o be_v not_o in_o therefore_o when_o god_n convert_v any_o he_o take_v both_o these_o way_n inward_o he_o work_v by_o effectual_a grace_n powerful_o subdue_a the_o will_n as_o a_o creature_n subject_a unto_o it_o and_o outward_o he_o work_v by_o moral_a suasion_n and_o authoritative_a command_n whereby_o he_o incline_v the_o will_n sweet_o and_o free_o to_o consent_v to_o the_o power_n of_o that_o inward_a grace_n which_o indeed_o he_o shall_v never_o nay_o indeed_o he_o can_v resist_v and_o both_o these_o together_o do_v concur_v as_o i_o say_v before_o to_o make_v a_o willing_a people_n in_o the_o day_n of_o inoffensive_o that_o neither_o the_o world_n nor_o his_o own_o conscience_n may_v have_v much_o to_o accuse_v he_o of_o beside_o common_a infirmity_n mark_v the_o reason_n of_o this_o because_o wicked_a man_n common_o make_v choice_n of_o sin_n this_o sin_n they_o will_v live_v in_o and_o that_o sin_n they_o will_v not_o live_v in_o the_o drunkard_n be_v not_o covetous_a and_o the_o covetous_a man_n be_v not_o a_o drunkard_n and_o so_o i_o may_v say_v of_o other_o sin_n now_o it_o be_v from_o the_o power_n of_o nature_n that_o wicked_a man_n refrain_v from_o the_o commission_n last_o true_o convert_v and_o eternal_o save_v and_o why_o then_o shall_v you_o doubt_v or_o think_v that_o you_o shall_v be_v the_o first_o cast_v yourself_o therefore_o upon_o god_n trust_v to_o his_o rich_a and_o free_a grace_n do_v the_o utmost_a of_o your_o endeavour_n however_o suppose_v the_o worst_a that_o thou_o be_v never_o convert_v nor_o save_v which_o supposition_n be_v very_o our_o god_n because_o it_o be_v possible_a to_o lose_v his_o love_n and_o the_o sense_n of_o it_o though_o we_o stand_v full_o possess_v of_o his_o favour_n second_o though_o god_n be_v our_o god_n yet_o to_o consider_v that_o it_o be_v possible_a to_o lose_v his_o favour_n and_o the_o sense_n of_o it_o this_o be_v enough_o to_o affect_v the_o heart_n with_o a_o holy_a fear_n even_o of_o a_o reconcile_a god_n it_o be_v true_a god_n original_a and_o fountain_n love_n can_v never_o be_v dry_v up_o who_o he_o love_v he_o love_v unto_o the_o end_n 89.33_o psal_n 89.33_o john_n 1.13_o and_o
