reason_v the_o lesser_a it_o be_v the_o great_a it_o must_v be_v and_o by_o undeniable_a consequence_n will_v be_v great_a of_o all_o if_o it_o be_v none_o at_o all_o so_o that_o it_o seem_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n may_v be_v extenuate_v in_o favour_n of_o ourselves_o but_o when_o we_o do_v so_o we_o must_v say_v we_o magnify_v it_o second_o but_o to_o come_v close_o to_o the_o objection_n though_o it_o be_v true_a that_o if_o god_n grace_n in_o our_o conversion_n do_v not_o do_v all_o it_o do_v not_o do_v so_o much_o as_o if_o it_o do_v all_o yet_o this_o be_v real_o no_o injury_n or_o dishonour_n to_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o though_o in_o some_o sense_n it_o do_v extenuate_v it_o it_o do_v not_o in_o truth_n and_o reality_n take_v off_o from_o the_o glory_n of_o it_o in_o my_o opinion_n the_o grace_n and_o favour_n of_o a_o prince_n be_v not_o the_o less_o in_o offer_v a_o pardon_n to_o a_o traitor_n who_o put_v forth_o his_o hand_n and_o glad_o receive_v it_o than_o if_o he_o force_v it_o upon_o he_o whether_o he_o will_v or_o no._n i_o be_o sure_a it_o be_v in_o the_o first_o case_n much_o fit_a to_o give_v it_o and_o he_o on_o who_o it_o be_v confer_v much_o can_v but_o repent_v and_o deny_v this_o grace_n to_o the_o other_o without_o which_o he_o can_v possible_o repent_v but_o the_o scripture_n charge_v the_o destruction_n of_o man_n upon_o themselves_o folly_n of_o his_o past_a life_n and_o come_v to_o a_o effectual_a purpose_n and_o resolution_n of_o change_v his_o course_n and_o it_o may_v be_v several_a time_n throw_v back_o by_o the_o temptation_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o the_o power_n of_o evil_a habit_n and_o the_o weakness_n and_o instability_n of_o his_o own_o purpose_n till_o at_o last_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n follow_v and_o assist_v he_o he_o come_v to_o a_o firm_a resolution_n of_o a_o better_a life_n which_o resolution_n govern_v he_o for_o the_o future_a i_o say_v all_o this_o while_n which_o in_o some_o person_n be_v long_o in_o other_o short_a according_a to_o the_o power_n of_o evil_a habit_n and_o the_o different_a degree_n of_o god_n grace_n afford_v to_o man_n all_o this_o time_n the_o work_n of_o regeneration_n be_v go_v on_o and_o though_o a_o man_n can_v be_v say_v to_o be_v in_o a_o regenerate_v state_n till_o that_o very_a instant_n that_o the_o principle_n of_o grace_n and_o his_o good_a resolution_n have_v get_v the_o upper_a hand_n of_o his_o lust_n yet_o it_o be_v certain_a for_o all_o this_o that_o the_o work_n of_o regeneration_n be_v not_o effect_v in_o a_o instant_n this_o be_v plain_o and_o true_o the_o case_n as_o i_o shall_v show_v in_o the_o three_o particular_a i_o propound_v namely_o that_o it_o be_v evident_a from_o experience_n of_o the_o ordinary_a method_n of_o god_n grace_n both_o in_o those_o who_o be_v regenerate_v by_o a_o pious_a and_o religious_a education_n and_o those_o who_o be_v reclaim_v from_o a_o vicious_a course_n of_o life_n the_o first_o sort_n namely_o those_o who_o be_v bring_v to_o goodness_n by_o a_o religious_a and_o virtuous_a education_n these_o at_o least_o so_o far_o as_o my_o observation_n reach_v make_v up_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v reveal_v from_o heaven_n against_o all_o ungodliness_n and_o unrighteousness_n of_o man_n who_o hold_v the_o truth_n in_o unrighteousness_n that_o be_v against_o all_o impenitent_a sinner_n i_o shall_v at_o the_o present_a by_o god_n assistance_n speak_v to_o the_o three_o first_o of_o these_o particular_n first_o the_o infinite_a danger_n that_o a_o wicked_a and_o
