have_v hitherto_o show_v the_o sad_a be_v our_o condition_n in_o this_o age_n in_o this_o particular_a when_o we_o look_v about_o we_o and_o consider_v the_o great_a miscarriage_n of_o they_o and_o how_o they_o grow_v exceed_o upon_o we_o in_o every_o place_n in_o all_o manner_n of_o wickedness_n in_o idleness_n in_o profaneness_n disobedience_n in_o luxury_n in_o lasciviousness_n in_o pride_n in_o vanity_n in_o cozenage_n in_o all_o manner_n of_o debauchedness_n taint_v and_o leaven_n and_o corrupt_v and_o entice_a one_o another_o into_o all_o manner_n of_o evil_n belove_a we_o do_v not_o think_v of_o these_o thing_n and_o it_o may_v be_v do_v not_o love_v to_o hear_v of_o they_o but_o we_o have_v very_o great_a cause_n to_o be_v affect_v with_o they_o and_o to_o lay_v they_o to_o heart_n and_o so_o endeavour_v all_o we_o can_v in_o our_o several_a place_n and_o opportunity_n to_o put_v a_o stop_n and_o obstruction_n to_o they_o which_o if_o it_o be_v not_o speedy_o do_v can_v threaten_v nothing_o but_o ruin_v itself_o when_o a_o man_n look_v upon_o his_o garden_n and_o see_v his_o young_a plant_n to_o wither_v it_o be_v a_o great_a dishearten_v and_o discouragement_n to_o he_o and_o what_o be_v it_o then_o in_o these_o spiritual_a blossom_n we_o now_o speak_v of_o when_o they_o shall_v be_v nip_v and_o blast_v and_o wither_v before_o our_o eye_n what_o hope_n can_v there_o be_v of_o posterity_n and_o of_o a_o succeed_a generation_n in_o the_o church_n when_o those_o which_o shall_v lay_v the_o ground_n and_o foundation_n to_o it_o do_v oftentimes_o thus_o miserable_o miscarry_v therefore_o let_v we_o consider_v of_o it_o and_o i_o say_v be_v affect_v with_o it_o and_o do_v all_o we_o can_v to_o prevent_v it_o by_o prayer_n and_o education_n and_o have_v many_o strange_a conceit_n in_o his_o head_n whilst_o he_o so_o remain_v as_o it_o be_v say_v concern_v the_o gentile_n rom._n 1.21_o they_o become_v vain_a in_o their_o imagination_n and_o exactness_n of_o conversation_n to_o be_v mere_a folly_n and_o godly_a man_n themselves_o to_o be_v so_o many_o fool_n and_o idiot_n that_o it_o be_v in_o vain_a to_o serve_v god_n and_o no_o profit_n to_o walk_v mournfulty_a before_o he_o as_o they_o say_v of_o it_o in_o malach._n 3.14_o and_o in_o job_n 21.15_o thus_o it_o be_v with_o paul_n himself_o before_o his_o conversion_n act._n 26.9_o i_o very_o think_v with_o myself_o say_v he_o that_o i_o ought_v to_o do_v many_o thing_n contrary_a to_o the_o name_n of_o jesus_n of_o nazzareth_n and_o so_o our_o saviour_n tell_v his_o disciple_n that_o there_o be_v some_o who_o will_v think_v that_o they_o shall_v do_v god_n service_n to_o kill_v they_o joh._n 16.2_o these_o be_v the_o thought_n which_o man_n be_v subject_a unto_o in_o their_o natural_a estate_n but_o now_o in_o conversion_n they_o must_v be_v all_o un-thought_a and_o lay_v aside_o so_o again_o far_o for_o his_o thought_n of_o god_n himself_o he_o must_v forsake_v these_o also_o and_o think_v otherwise_o of_o he_o what_o thought_n have_v man_n common_o of_o god_n in_o such_o a_o condition_n sure_o such_o as_o be_v very_o strange_a and_o irregular_a and_o that_o in_o reference_n to_o any_o of_o his_o attribute_n whether_o one_o or_o other_o we_o will_v but_o instance_n these_o two_o among_o the_o rest_n his_o justice_n and_o his_o mercy_n they_o have_v very_o sinister_a apprehension_n here_o sometime_o they_o question_v his_o justice_n and_o think_v he_o have_v little_a of_o that_o in_o he_o think_v he_o to_o be_v a_o indulgent_a god_n and_o one_o that_o will_v let_v they_o do_v as_o they_o listen_v without_o control_v as_o it_o be_v in_o psal_n 50.21_o thou_o think_v that_o i_o be_v altogether_o such_o a_o one_o as_o thyself_o god_n speak_v there_o to_o a_o unrighteous_a person_n who_o presume_v upon_o his_o patience_n towards_o he_o but_o withal_o he_o tell_v he_o that_o in_o the_o event_n he_o shall_v find_v it_o otherwise_o but_o i_o will_v reprove_v thou_o and_o will_v set_v thy_o sin_n in_o order_n before_o thy_o eye_n so_o again_o on_o the_o other_o side_n for_o god_n mercy_n there_o be_v sometime_o in_o another_o extreme_a now_o and_o then_o question_v of_o that_o and_o a_o think_v that_o it_o be_v no_o purpose_n for_o they_o to_o repent_v and_o be_v better_o for_o it_o shall_v notwithstanding_o be_v as_o bad_a with_o they_o for_o time_n
that_o whosoever_o he_o be_v that_o forsake_v his_o sin_n and_o wicked_a course_n his_o evil_a way_n and_o his_o evil_a thought_n there_o be_v mercy_n and_o forgiveness_n for_o he_o which_o do_v most_o assure_o belong_v unto_o he_o this_o be_v the_o truth_n which_o be_v here_o exhibit_v to_o we_o we_o see_v here_o how_o the_o proclamation_n be_v lay_v in_o general_a term_n without_o any_o i_o answer_v brief_o first_o by_o way_n of_o concession_n that_o it_o may_v be_v perhaps_o very_o hard_a and_o difficult_a especial_o for_o some_o kind_n of_o sinner_n to_o leave_v their_o sinful_a course_n these_o who_o have_v be_v a_o long_a time_n accustom_v to_o sin_n and_o continue_v for_o any_o time_n in_o it_o they_o be_v not_o so_o easy_o reclaim_v from_o it_o for_o custom_n it_o be_v a_o second_o nature_n and_o a_o tyrant_n which_o do_v very_o much_o rule_n and_o domineer_v there_o where_o it_o prevail_v the_o scripture_n itself_o have_v hint_v as_o much_o unto_o we_o in_o jer._n 13.23_o can_v the_o aethiopian_a change_n his_o skin_n or_o the_o leopard_n his_o spot_n then_o may_v you_o also_o do_v good_a who_o be_v accustom_v to_o do_v evil_a that_o be_v there_o be_v much_o difficulty_n in_o it_o again_o as_o there_o be_v a_o difficulty_n from_o custom_n so_o also_o from_o spiritual_a obduration_n and_o a_o judicial_a hardness_n of_o heart_n the_o lord_n have_v often_o knock_v at_o the_o door_n of_o such_o a_o man_n soul_n and_o call_v upon_o he_o to_o leave_v his_o evil_a way_n and_o he_o still_o persist_v in_o they_o he_o may_v be_v so_o far_o provoke_v by_o he_o as_o from_o henceforth_o very_o much_o to_o give_v he_o up_o to_o the_o command_n and_o tyranny_n of_o satan_n for_o such_o a_o time_n and_o to_o the_o power_n and_o strength_n of_o his_o own_o lust_n again_o yet_o further_o it_o be_v not_o so_o possible_a neither_o for_o a_o man_n of_o himself_o to_o leave_v his_o sin_n absolute_o nor_o saving_o to_o convert_v himself_o to_o god_n without_o the_o special_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n upon_o his_o heart_n help_v he_o and_o enable_v he_o hereunto_o i'faith_o it_o be_v not_o of_o ourselves_o it_o be_v as_o the_o apostle_n paul_n style_v it_o the_o gift_n of_o god_n eph._n 2.8_o and_o so_o repentance_n and_o reformation_n it_o have_v also_o o_o lord_n i_o know_v say_v the_o prophet_n jeremy_n that_o the_o way_n of_o man_n be_v not_o ordinary_o some_o power_n to_o leave_v they_o except_o where_o they_o have_v forfeit_v this_o power_n for_o such_o a_o season_n by_o the_o just_a judgement_n of_o god_n upon_o they_o as_o i_o hint_v and_o intimate_v before_o which_o be_v a_o impotency_n contract_v second_o every_o man_n have_v power_n also_o more_o or_o less_o to_o avoid_v and_o shun_v the_o degree_n of_o sin_n that_o be_v he_o need_v not_o to_o be_v altogether_o so_o bad_a and_o wicked_a as_o he_o be_v unless_o he_o please_v he_o may_v put_v a_o check_n and_o restraint_n upon_o himself_o if_o he_o will_v and_o not_o let_v loose_a the_o reins_o of_o sin_n in_o he_o three_o there_o be_v a_o power_n also_o in_o wicked_a man_n to_o forsake_v the_o occasion_n which_o lead_v unto_o sin_n as_o well_o as_o in_o part_n the_o sin_n themselves_o as_o idleness_n and_o evil_a company_n and_o a_o evil_a eye_n and_o the_o uttermost_a use_n of_o thing_n indifferent_a such_o thing_n as_o these_o be_v which_o do_v open_a as_o it_o be_v the_o door_n unto_o sin_n there_o be_v some_o power_n in_o man_n to_o take_v heed_n of_o and_o so_o consequent_o to_o leave_v and_o to_o forsake_v the_o sin_n themselves_o four_o and_o last_o there_o be_v also_o a_o power_n in_o wicked_a man_n to_o put_v themselves_o upon_o such_o way_n and_o course_n and_o to_o make_v use_n of_o such_o kind_n of_o mean_n as_o from_o whence_o sin_n may_v be_v forsake_v by_o they_o and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o they_o be_v principal_o here_o enjoin_v when_o they_o be_v require_v to_o leave_v and_o forsake_v they_o and_o according_o it_o be_v that_o which_o in_o these_o case_n shall_v be_v now_o do_v and_o practise_v by_o they_o let_v the_o wicked_a forsake_v his_o way_n that_o be_v let_v he_o do_v that_o whereby_o he_o may_v come_v to_o forsake_v they_o as_o first_o let_v he_o serious_o meditate_v of_o the_o great_a evil_a and_o danger_n of_o they_o let_v he_o propound_v to_o himself_o god_n wrath_n and_o indignation_n against_o blaspheme_v now_o those_o that_o be_v good_a themselves_o they_o have_v a_o great_a regard_n hereunto_o those_o that_o be_v god_n child_n they_o be_v very_o jealous_a of_o god_n honour_n as_o any_o other_o child_n beside_o be_v of_o the_o honour_n of_o their_o earthly_a parent_n and_o so_o according_o they_o can_v but_o grieve_v when_o there_o be_v any_o trespass_n at_o any_o time_n upon_o it_o those_o that_o areotherwise_o they_o show_v but_o little_a love_n and_o affection_n which_o they_o bear_v unto_o he_o three_o out_o of_o respect_n to_o themselves_o and_o their_o own_o advantage_n the_o more_o sin_n there_o be_v abroad_o the_o more_o be_v all_o man_n concern_v in_o it_o not_o evil_a man_n but_o good_a who_o be_v from_o hence_o in_o so_o much_o the_o great_a danger_n and_o that_o in_o a_o twofold_a respect_n both_o as_o to_o matter_n of_o defilement_n and_o of_o punishment_n they_o be_v more_o in_o danger_n from_o hence_o to_o be_v pollute_v and_o they_o be_v more_o in_o danger_n from_o hence_o to_o be_v afflict_v and_o this_o make_v they_o to_o be_v so_o much_o trouble_v at_o it_o first_o in_o order_n to_o defilement_n they_o be_v more_o in_o danger_n from_o hence_o to_o be_v pollute_v great_a and_o reign_a sin_n and_o abomination_n be_v usual_o great_a temptation_n which_o do_v hazard_v the_o soul_n of_o many_o person_n that_o converse_v among_o they_o and_o therefore_o there_o be_v cause_n to_o be_v grieve_v for_o they_o what_o be_v it_o that_o which_o make_v man_n now_o so_o trouble_v to_o hear_v of_o the_o spread_a of_o certain_a sickness_n and_o
