our_o sin_n and_o a_o daily_a mortification_n of_o they_o hose_n 14._o 8._o ephraim_n shall_v say_v what_o have_v i_o any_o more_o to_o do_v with_o idol_n isa_n 31._o 7._o every_o man_n shall_v cast_v grace_n and_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n sure_o it_o be_v either_o temptation_n which_o lie_v upon_o they_o or_o ignorance_n or_o unbelief_n that_o they_o thus_o stand_v off_o and_o fear_v and_o dispute_v and_o except_v and_o question_n and_o many_o time_n conclude_v against_o all_o encouragement_n to_o be_v take_v into_o this_o covenant_n and_o there_o to_o find_v mercy_n and_o rest_n for_o their_o soul_n true_o they_o do_v many_o time_n turn_v the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n into_o a_o very_a covenant_n of_o work_n o_o but_o there_o be_v no_o mercy_n to_o be_v have_v o_o but_o not_o for_o mediator_n without_o a_o tender_a compassionate_a god_n and_o father_n no_o city_n of_o refuge_n at_o all_o nor_o help_v to_o the_o poor_a sinner_n at_o all_o and_o when_o they_o be_v convince_v of_o mercy_n in_o it_o and_o possible_a reception_n into_o it_o yet_o they_o think_v that_o god_n will_v not_o come_v off_o to_o this_o but_o upon_o very_o hard_a and_o difficult_a term_n usual_o annex_v the_o legal_a condition_n to_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n why_o sir_n what_o do_v you_o mean_v thus_o to_o wrong_v god_n and_o his_o covenant_n and_o your_o distress_a soul_n either_o there_o be_v a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n or_o there_o be_v not_o either_o that_o covenant_n of_o grace_n be_v a_o better_a covenant_n than_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n or_o it_o be_v not_o if_o it_o be_v a_o better_a covenant_n than_o the_o fall_v and_o undo_v sinner_n may_v find_v relief_n there_o and_o help_v there_o which_o he_o can_v not_o find_v in_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n for_o if_o the_o sinner_n can_v be_v no_o more_o relieve_v by_o this_o than_o by_o that_o covenant_n it_o be_v then_o no_o better_a covenant_n and_o now_o see_v what_o a_o slur_n you_o cast_v upon_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n and_o upon_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n and_o upon_o jesus_n christ_n and_o upon_o all_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n o_o distress_a sinner_n if_o the_o merciful_a god_n if_o the_o gracious_a god_n if_o the_o give_v god_n if_o the_o forgive_a god_n if_o the_o free_o love_a god_n if_o the_o lord_n jesus_n as_o mediator_n and_o surety_n if_o all_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n if_o all_o the_o offer_v of_o grace_n if_o all_o the_o call_v of_o the_o gospel_n may_v suffice_v to_o convince_v thou_o that_o this_o covenant_n be_v the_o best_a covenant_n that_o ever_o be_v or_o can_v be_v make_v for_o sinner_n with_o all_o suitableness_n and_o tenderness_n to_o the_o sinner_n condition_n then_o dispute_v no_o more_o but_o pray_v for_o faith_n to_o give_v with_o all_o these_o a_o certainty_n and_o unchangeableness_n here_o be_v as_o much_o mercy_n and_o goodness_n and_o happiness_n as_o you_o need_v and_o you_o shall_v sure_o have_v it_o and_o it_o though_o love_n deal_v with_o christ_n yet_o it_o be_v another_o way_n than_o faith_n love_n be_v bring_v into_o christ_n but_o faith_n work_n be_v receive_v all_o from_o christ_n and_o rest_v on_o christ_n etc._n etc._n 2._o there_o be_v nothing_o but_o faith_n which_o will_v or_o can_v acknowledge_v a_o free_a covenant_n and_o all_o as_o free_o give_v unto_o we_o set_v up_o any_o thing_n but_o faith_n and_o that_o will_v set_v up_o we_o covenant_n nothing_o but_o faith_n will_v acknowledge_v a_o free_a covenant_n and_o pull_v down_o grace_n any_o thing_n but_o faith_n must_v be_v something_o in_o ourselves_o and_o something_o in_o ourselves_o will_v deprive_v grace_n of_o the_o glory_n yea_o it_o will_v deny_v grace_n but_o faith_n will_v do_v none_o of_o this_o because_o faith_n be_v a_o mere_a gift_n of_o grace_n and_o faith_n receive_v all_o as_o free_a gift_n find_v nothing_o in_o we_o at_o all_o but_o receive_v all_o and_o live_v whole_o on_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n 3._o it_o be_v of_o faith_n that_o the_o promise_n may_v be_v sure_a so_o the_o apostle_n rom._n 4._o 16._o sure_a it_o be_v of_o faith_n that_o the_o promise_n may_v be_v sure_a adam_n have_v a_o covenant_n as_o well_o as_o we_o and_o therefore_o some_o observe_v that_o he_o have_v one_o sacrament_n of_o death_n &_o another_o of_o life_n to_o assure_v he_o of_o death_n in_o case_n he_o sin_v as_o well_o as_o to_o assure_v he_o of_o life_n in_o case_n he_o obey_v because_o it_o be_v make_v upon_o condition_n of_o work_n and_o true_o if_o adam_n who_o be_v so_o every_o will_v give_v you_o a_o new_a heart_n and_o i_o will_v heal_v your_o backslide_n and_o i_o will_v love_v they_o free_o and_o i_o will_v forgive_v your_o sin_n for_o my_o own_o sake_n these_o be_v absolute_a mystery_n without_o faith_n before_o i_o proceed_v any_o further_a in_o this_o point_n i_o will_v make_v some_o useful_a application_n of_o what_o i_o have_v deliver_v already_o be_v faith_n the_o condition_n of_o the_o conant_n sect_n iv_o 1._o use_v then_o how_o be_v man_n mistake_v how_o have_v they_o delude_v themselves_o how_o condition_n to_o discover_v the_o presumption_n gracious_a and_o merciful_a god_n he_o be_v and_o so_o will_v be_v to_o they_o o_o but_o sir_n there_o be_v a_o condition_n in_o the_o bond._n god_n make_v many_o sweet_a and_o comfortable_a promise_n o_o but_o there_o be_v a_o condition_n and_o god_n say_v he_o will_v be_v such_o a_o gracious_a and_o merciful_a god_n etc._n etc._n o_o but_o there_o be_v a_o condition_n and_o he_o say_v that_o he_o will_v save_v and_o give_v eternal_a life_n o_o but_o there_o be_v a_o condition_n a_o condition_n that_o you_o think_v not_o of_o a_o condition_n that_o you_o never_o attain_v unto_o faith_n be_v the_o condition_n of_o the_o covenant_n you_o must_v be_v believer_n in_o christ_n and_o then_o and_o so_o you_o must_v claim_v the_o promise_n you_o must_v have_v a_o interest_n in_o christ_n or_o else_o you_o can_v never_o have_v a_o interest_n in_o the_o privilege_n of_o the_o covenant_n you_o have_v own_v the_o promise_a mercy_n and_o the_o promise_a salvation_n in_o the_o covenant_n o_o but_o you_o have_v not_o all_o this_o while_n own_v christ_n by_o say_v and_o therefore_o you_o have_v all_o this_o while_n delude_v your_o soul_n the_o apostle_n faith_n all_o man_n have_v not_o faith_n and_o the_o prophet_n say_v who_o have_v believe_v our_o report_n and_o christ_n himself_o say_v he_o that_o believe_v shall_v be_v save_v and_o he_o that_o believe_v not_o shall_v be_v damn_v why_o brethren_n if_o faith_n be_v the_o condition_n of_o the_o covenant_n if_o faith_n be_v necessary_a to_o bring_v we_o into_o the_o covenant_n then_o no_o unbeliever_n be_v yet_o in_o the_o covenat_n for_o no_o unbeliever_n have_v faith_n no_o no_o god_n be_v not_o the_o god_n of_o the_o dead_a but_o of_o the_o live_n and_o mercy_n be_v not_o the_o portion_n of_o unbeliever_n but_o of_o union_n the_o condition_n of_o the_o covenant_n then_o as_o you_o have_v union_n look_v to_o your_o faith_n that_o it_o be_v a_o faith_n of_o union_n reason_n to_o look_v to_o yourselves_o because_o all_o man_n have_v not_o â—aith_n so_o you_o have_v reason_n to_o look_v to_o your_o faith_n for_o you_o may_v have_v a_o faith_n which_o yet_o be_v not_o a_o faith_n of_o union_n that_o be_v a_o
