that_o be_v 3._o the_o way_n and_o mean_n of_o his_o recovery_n by_o christ_n man_n by_o his_o fall_n have_v make_v himself_o uncapable_a of_o life_n by_o this_o first_o covenant_n viz._n the_o covenant_n of_o work_n it_o please_v the_o lord_n to_o make_v a_o second_o covenant_n with_o he_o namely_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n grace_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n wherein_o he_o free_o offer_v unto_o sinner_n life_n and_o salvation_n by_o jesus_n christ_n require_v they_o shall_v repent_v of_o their_o sin_n and_o believe_v in_o he_o that_o they_o may_v be_v save_v in_o treat_v of_o this_o covenant_n that_o i_o may_v proceed_v more_o methodical_o i_o shall_v 1._o compare_v these_o two_o covenant_n viz._n of_o work_n and_o grace_n together_o and_o show_v wherein_o they_o agree_v and_o wherein_o they_o differ_v 2._o i_o shall_v open_v more_o particular_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n first_o i_o shall_v show_v wherein_o they_o agree_v 1._o they_o agree_v in_o the_o author_n god_n be_v the_o author_n of_o they_o both_o 2._o they_o agree_v in_o the_o party_n concern_v god_n and_o man_n be_v the_o party_n concern_v in_o both_o covenant_n 3._o they_o agree_v in_o this_o that_o in_o both_o there_o be_v a_o promise_n of_o life_n and_o blessedness_n 4._o in_o both_o covenant_n there_o be_v a_o condition_n require_v on_o our_o part_n for_o the_o obtain_v the_o blessedness_n promise_v neither_o of_o the_o covenant_n promise_v life_n and_o blessedness_n absolute_o whether_o we_o obey_v or_o no_o whether_o we_o believe_v or_o no_o but_o under_o the_o condition_n of_o obedience_n and_o faith_n 5._o b_o the_o covenant_n require_v a_o perfect_a righteousness_n of_o we_o if_o we_o intend_v to_o obtain_v the_o blessedness_n promise_v no_o blessedness_n be_v promise_v in_o either_o covenant_n but_o upon_o condition_n of_o bring_v in_o a_o perfect_a righteousness_n either_o of_o our_o own_o or_o another_o and_o these_o be_v the_o thing_n wherein_o th●y_v agree_v in_o the_o next_o place_n let_v we_o consider_v wherein_o they_o d●ffer_v 1._o they_o differ_v in_o the_o condition_n require_v one_o require_v work_n the_o other_o faith_n the_o one_o say_v do_v this_o and_o live_v the_o other_o believe_v in_o the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o thou_o shall_v be_v save_v act_v 16.31_o in_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n there_o be_v indeed_o a_o act_n of_o faith_n require_v viz._n that_o god_n will_v give_v the_o bless_a life_n promise_v upon_o man_n performance_n of_o his_o duty_n and_o obedience_n but_o it_o be_v not_o such_o a_o faith_n as_o be_v require_v in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n which_o be_v the_o receive_n and_o apprehend_v and_o trust_v our_o soul_n on_o the_o righteousness_n which_o be_v wrought_v for_o we_o by_o the_o active_a and_o passive_a obedience_n of_o christ_n the_o ●ovenant_n of_o grace_n also_o require_v work_n for_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n that_o bring_v salvation_n teach_v we_o to_o deny_v all_o ungodliness_n and_o worldly_a lust_n and_o to_o live_v righteous_o sober_o and_o godly_o in_o this_o present_a world_n etc._n etc._n and_o christ_n give_v himself_o for_o we_o that_o he_o may_v redeem_v we_o from_o all_o iniquity_n and_o purify_v unto_o himself_o a_o peculiar_a people_n zeal_n we_o of_o good_a work_n tit._n 2.11_o 12_o 14._o but_o it_o do_v not_o require_v work_n from_o the_o same_o principle_n that_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n do_v
