the_o wise_a god_n who_o most_o perfect_o know_v all_o way_n count_v in_o his_o wisdom_n that_o to_o save_v man_n by_o grace_n be_v the_o best_a most_o safe_a and_o sure_a way_n therefore_o it_o be_v of_o faith_n that_o it_o 16._o may_v be_v by_o grace_n to_o the_o end_n the_o promise_n may_v be_v sure_a to_o all_o the_o seed_n and_o again_o forgiveness_n be_v according_a to_o the_o riches_n of_o his_o grace_n wherein_o he_o have_v abound_v towards_o we_o in_o all_o wisdom_n and_o prudence_n wherefore_o to_o set_v grace_n 8._o upon_o the_o throne_n to_o let_v grace_n proceed_v out_o of_o the_o throne_n as_o a_o river_n be_v by_o the_o wise_a god_n the_o only_a wise_a god_n count_v the_o best_a way_n the_o safe_a way_n the_o way_n that_o do_v best_a suit_n the_o condition_n of_o a_o sinful_a man_n and_o that_o tend_v most_o to_o the_o utter_a disappointment_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o death_n and_o hell._n grace_n can_v justify_v free_o when_o it_o will_v who_o it_o will_v from_o what_o it_o will._n grace_n can_v continue_v to_o pardon_v favour_n and_o save_v from_o fall_n in_o falls_z out_z of_o falls_z grace_n can_v comfort_v relieve_v and_o help_v those_o that_o have_v hurt_v themselves_o and_o grace_n can_v bring_v the_o unworthy_a to_o glory_n this_o the_o law_n can_v do_v this_o man_n can_v do_v this_o angel_n can_v do_v this_o god_n can_v do_v but_o only_o by_o the_o riches_n of_o his_o grace_n through_o the_o redemption_n that_o be_v in_o jesus_n christ._n wherefore_o see_a god_n have_v set_v grace_n on_o the_o throne_n and_o order_v that_o it_o shall_v proceed_v from_o this_o throne_n to_o the_o world._n yea_o see_v he_o have_v make_v it_o king_n and_o grant_v to_o it_o to_o it_o only_o the_o authority_n and_o sovereignty_n of_o save_a soul_n he_o have_v 12._o magnify_v not_o only_o his_o love_n but_o his_o wisdom_n and_o his_o prudence_n before_o the_o son_n of_o men._n this_o then_o be_v his_o great_a device_n the_o masterpiece_n of_o all_o his_o come_v to_o and_o drink_v of_o this_o water_n glorify_v god_n for_o his_o wisdom_n praise_v god_n for_o his_o wisdom_n such_o a_o one_o say_v that_o god_n be_v only_o wise_a and_o bow_v his_o head_n say_v again_o to_o god_n only_o wise_a be_v glory_n both_o now_o and_o for_o ever_o amen_n but_o he_o that_o shall_v contemn_v this_o grace_n confront_v the_o high_a wisdom_n even_o wisdom_n upon_o the_o throne_n he_o say_v of_o himself_o i_o be_o wise_a than_o daniel_n than_o the_o judgement_n of_o god._n i_o can_v have_v find_v out_o a_o more_o safe_a way_n to_o heaven_n myself_o and_o have_v i_o be_v of_o god_n counsel_n i_o will_v have_v tell_v he_o so_o all_o this_o so_o horrible_a blasphemy_n natural_o proceed_v from_o he_o that_o like_v not_o that_o grace_n shall_v be_v king_n on_o the_o throne_n and_o shall_v proceed_v out_o of_o the_o throne_n to_o the_o world._n but_o shall_v he_o that_o contend_v with_o the_o almighty_a instruct_v he_o he_o 2._o that_o reprove_v god_n let_v he_o answer_v it_o the_o text_n say_v that_o this_o very_a doctrine_n 25._o to_o the_o greek_n to_o the_o wise_a be_v foolishness_n and_o the_o preach_n of_o it_o a_o foolish_a thing_n to_o they_o but_o it_o will_v appear_v even_o then_o when_o the_o conclusion_n of_o all_o thing_n be_v come_v and_o when_o these_o wise_a one_o by_o their_o wisdom_n have_v fool_v themselves_o to_o hell_n that_o by_o some_o but_o he_o be_v a_o glorious_a throne_n to_o his_o father_n house_n for_o since_o his_o humility_n be_v the_o low_a of_o all_o now_o he_o be_v exalt_v to_o be_v the_o throne_n of_o god_n yea_o be_v make_v the_o fountain_n whence_o grace_n continual_o flow_v like_o the_o river_n and_o come_v down_o to_o we_o like_o a_o mighty_a stream_n wherefore_o i_o will_v conclude_v this_o with_o both_o comfort_n and_o caution_n with_o comfort_n and_o that_o because_o of_o the_o security_n that_o they_o be_v under_o that_o indeed_o have_v submit_v themselves_o to_o grace_n sin_n shall_v not_o have_v dominion_n over_o you_o for_o you_o be_v not_o under_o the_o law_n but_o under_o grace_n and_o let_v it_o be_v caution_n to_o those_o that_o despise_v take_v heed_n it_o be_v dangerous_a affront_a of_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god._n now_o here_o be_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n even_a wisdom_n upon_o the_o throne_n it_o please_v god_n for_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o wisdom_n to_o make_v with_o his_o own_o now_o this_o be_v the_o way_n of_o his_o own_o devise_v the_o fruit_n and_o effect_n of_o his_o own_o wisdom_n wherefore_o sinner_n please_v he_o please_v he_o in_o that_o wherein_o he_o be_v well_o please_v come_v to_o the_o water_n cast_v thyself_o into_o they_o and_o fear_v not_o drown_v let_v god_n alone_o to_o cause_v they_o to_o carry_v thou_o into_o his_o paradise_n that_o and_o all_o to_o quench_v the_o thirst_n of_o they_o that_o thirst_n for_o god._n wherefore_o as_o i_o say_v such_o provision_n for_o the_o thirsty_a intimate_v their_o fear_n of_o want_n and_o the_o crave_v appetite_n of_o their_o soul_n after_o god_n right_o spiritual_a thirst_n be_v not_o to_o be_v satisfy_v without_o abundance_n of_o grace_n and_o 8._o they_o shall_v be_v abundant_o satisfy_v with_o the_o fatness_n of_o thy_o house_n and_o thou_o shall_v make_v they_o drink_v of_o the_o river_n of_o thy_o pleasure_n vii_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n be_v compare_v to_o a_o river_n to_o show_v the_o greatness_n of_o the_o family_n of_o god._n he_o have_v a_o family_n a_o great_a family_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o a_o little_a that_o must_v be_v provide_v for_o they_o when_o israel_n go_v out_o of_o egypt_n and_o thirst_v by_o the_o way_n god_n provide_v for_o they_o a_o river_n he_o make_v it_o gush_v out_o of_o the_o rock_n for_o 20._o alas_o what_o less_o than_o a_o river_n can_v quench_v the_o thirst_n of_o more_o than_o six_o hundred_o thousand_o man_n beside_o woman_n and_o child_n i_o say_v what_o less_o than_o a_o river_n can_v do_v it_o when_o the_o people_n lust_v for_o flesh_n moses_n say_v shall_v the_o flock_n and_o herd_n be_v slay_v for_o they_o to_o suffice_v they_o or_o shall_v all_o the_o fish_n of_o the_o sea_n be_v gather_v together_o for_o they_o to_o suffice_v they_o even_o so_o can_v not_o less_o than_o a_o river_n sustain_v and_o suffice_v that_o great_a people_n now_o his_o people_n in_o gospel-day_n be_v not_o to_o be_v diminish_v but_o increase_v and_o if_o then_o they_o have_v need_n of_o a_o river_n sure_o now_o of_o a_o sea_n but_o the_o river_n be_v deep_a and_o broad_a full_a and_o abound_v or_o rise_v with_o water_n so_o it_o will_v suffice_v vii_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n be_v compare_v to_o a_o river_n perhaps_o to_o show_v of_o what_o a_o low_a esteem_n it_o be_v with_o the_o rich_a and_o the_o full_a the_o destitute_a indeed_o embrace_v the_o rock_n instead_o of_o a_o shelter_n and_o the_o poor_a and_o needy_a they_o seek_v water_n but_o they_o that_o can_v drink_v wine_n in_o bowl_n that_o can_v solace_v themselves_o with_o as_o they_o think_v better_a thing_n they_o come_v not_o to_o this_o river_n to_o drink_v they_o never_o say_v they_o shall_v die_v if_o they_o drink_v not_o of_o this_o water_n it_o be_v therefore_o for_o the_o poor_a and_o needy_a god_n will_v lead_v they_o to_o his_o live_a fountain_n of_o water_n and_o will_v wipe_v away_o 17._o all_o tear_n from_o their_o eye_n and_o thus_o i_o pass_v the_o second_o and_o come_v to_o the_o three_o particular_a and_o that_o be_v to_o show_v the_o head_n and_o spring_n from_o whence_o this_o river_n proceed_v or_o spring_n river_n have_v their_o head_n from_o whence_o they_o rise_v out_o of_o which_o they_o spring_v and_o so_o according_o we_o read_v this_o river_n have_v wherefore_o he_o say_v he_o show_v i_o a_o pure_a river_n of_o water_n of_o life_n clear_a as_o crystal_n proceed_v out_o of_o the_o throne_n of_o god_n and_o of_o the_o lamb._n 1._o god_n be_v here_o to_o be_v take_v for_o the_o whole_a godhead_n be_v call_v the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n so_o then_o by_o this_o we_o perceive_v whence_o grace_n come_v be_v all_o the_o world_n gracious_a if_o god_n be_v not_o gracious_a what_o be_v man_n the_o better_a if_o the_o father_n or_o the_o son_n or_o the_o holy-ghost_n be_v gracious_a if_o they_o be_v not_o all_o gracious_a what_o will_v it_o profit_v but_o now_o god_n be_v gracious_a the_o three_o person_n in_o the_o godhead_n be_v gracious_a and_o so_o long_o they_o that_o seek_v grace_n be_v provide_v for_o for_o that_o there_o proceed_v from_o they_o a_o river_n or_o grace_n like_o a_o flow_a stream_n indeed_o the_o original_a of_o grace_n to_o sinner_n be_v the_o goodwill_n of_o god_n none_o can_v imagine_v how_o love_a god_n be_v to_o sinful_a man._n a_o little_a of_o it_o be_v see_v but_o they_o that_o see_v most_o see_v but_o a_o little_a but_o there_o be_v add_v and_o of_o the_o lamb._n the_o lamb_n be_v jesus_n as_o sacrifice_v jesus_n as_o man_n and_o suffer_v hence_o you_o have_v the_o lamb_n at_o the_o first_o vision_n of_o the_o throne_n set_v forth_o unto_o we_o thus_o that_o be_v as_o slain_z and_o i_o behold_v 6._o and_o lo_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o throne_n and_o of_o the_o four_o beast_n and_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o elder_n stand_v a_o lamb_n as_o it_o have_v be_v slay_v wherefore_o by_o this_o word_n lamb_n we_o be_v to_o well_o as_o mercy_n be_v bestow_v upon_o the_o world_n wherefore_o as_o he_o say_v here_o that_o the_o river_n of_o water_n of_o life_n proceed_v from_o god_n so_o he_o add_v that_o the_o lamb_n because_o he_o will_v have_v we_o while_o we_o be_v entangle_v and_o overcome_v with_o this_o river_n of_o god_n pleasure_n not_o forget_v what_o it_o cost_v the_o lamb_n of_o god_n that_o this_o grace_n may_v come_v unto_o we_o for_o the_o riches_n of_o grace_n and_o of_o wisdom_n be_v that_o grace_n come_v to_o we_o not_o only_o in_o a_o way_n of_o mercy_n and_o compassion_n but_o in_o a_o way_n of_o justice_n and_o equity_n but_o that_o can_v be_v by_o no_o other_o mean_n but_o by_o redeem_n blood._n which_o redeem_v blood_n come_v not_o from_o we_o nor_o yet_o through_o our_o the_o holy_a ghost_n say_v god_n cause_v the_o water_n to_o flow_v and_o again_o and_o it_o shall_v come_v to_o poss_v in_o that_o day_n the_o day_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o the_o mountain_n shall_v a_o river_n that_o abound_v and_o that_o overflows_a its_o bank_n in_o a_o infinite_a and_o unspeakable_a manner_n thus_o much_o for_o the_o river_n to_o wit_n what_o a_o river_n of_o water_n of_o life_n it_o be_v it_o be_v a_o river_n deep_a broad_a full_a and_o abound_a with_o this_o water_n with_o this_o spirit_n and_o grace_n of_o the_o gospel_n second_o now_o i_o shall_v come_v to_o draw_v some_o inference_n from_o it_o that_o be_v from_o this_o term_n a_o river_n a_o river_n of_o water_n of_o life_n first_o then_o a_o river_n be_v water_n that_o be_v common_a common_a in_o the_o stream_n though_o otherways_o in_o the_o head._n this_o river_n proceed_v out_o of_o the_o throne_n and_o so_o as_o to_o its_o rise_n it_o be_v special_a it_o be_v also_o call_v the_o water_n of_o life_n and_o as_o it_o be_v such_o it_o be_v special_a but_o as_o it_o be_v a_o river_n it_o be_v common_a and_o of_o common_a use_n and_o for_o common_a good_a hence_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n be_v call_v the_o common_a salvation_n for_o that_o by_o the_o 3_o word_n there_o be_v no_o restraint_n no_o denial_n to_o or_o forbid_v of_o any_o that_o will_n from_o receive_v thereof_o and_o whosoever_o will_v let_v he_o take_v 17._o the_o water_n of_o life_n free_o what_o can_v more_o full_o declare_v the_o commonness_n of_o a_o thing_n yea_o this_o river_n be_v call_v at_o the_o very_a head_n of_o it_o a_o open_a fountain_n a_o fountain_n open_v to_o the_o house_n of_o judah_n and_o inhabitant_n of_o 1._o jerusalem_n and_o by_o judah_n and_o jerusalem_n be_v comprehend_v every_o soul_n that_o will_v drink_v of_o the_o water_n of_o life_n or_o live_a water_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o this_o river_n be_v say_v to_o go_v 8._o down_o to_o the_o desert_n and_o to_o the_o sea_n where_o all_o kind_n of_o fish_n be_v by_o sea_n be_v mean_v the_o world_n and_o by_o fish_n the_o people_n and_o thither_o shall_v run_v this_o river_n of_o water_n of_o life_n but_o second_o though_o a_o river_n in_o the_o stream_n of_o it_o be_v common_a yet_o a_o river_n as_o it_o pass_v through_o a_o country_n or_o province_n will_v choose_v its_o own_o way_n it_o will_v run_v in_o the_o valley_n in_o the_o plain_n not_o over_o steeple_n and_o hill_n it_o will_v also_o fetch_v its_o compass_n and_o circuit_n it_o will_v go_v about_o and_o reach_v hither_o and_o thither_o and_o according_a to_o its_o course_n it_o will_v miss_v by_o its_o turn_n what_o place_n and_o people_n it_o list_v yet_o it_o be_v common_a for_o that_o it_o lie_v open_a yet_o it_o be_v common_a for_o all_o the_o beast_n of_o the_o field_n there_o be_v therefore_o a_o difference_n to_o be_v put_v betwixt_o the_o commonness_n of_o a_o thing_n and_o its_o presence_n a_o thing_n may_v be_v common_a yet_o far_o enough_o off_o of_o thou_o epsom_n tunbridge_n water_n and_o the_o bath_n may_v be_v common_a but_o yet_o a_o great_a way_n off_o of_o some_o that_o have_v need_v thereof_o the_o same_o may_v be_v say_v of_o this_o river_n it_o be_v common_a in_o the_o stream_n but_o it_o run_v its_o own_o circuit_n and_o keep_v its_o own_o water_n course_n he_o send_v 10._o the_o spring_n into_o the_o valley_n which_o run_v among_o the_o hill_n indeed_o he_o open_v his_o river_n in_o high_a place_n in_o his_o throne_n and_o of_o the_o lamb_n but_o still_o they_o run_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o valley_n to_o water_v the_o humble_a and_o the_o lowly_a wherefore_o they_o that_o thirst_v and_o will_v drink_v be_v bid_v to_o come_v down_o to_o the_o water_n ho_o every_o one_o that_o thirst_v come_v you_o to_o the_o water_n and_o he_o that_o have_v no_o money_n come_v you_o buy_v etc._n etc._n and_o again_o if_o any_o man_n 37._o thirst_n let_v he_o come_v unto_o i_o and_o drink_n come_v out_o from_o under_o the_o threshold_n it_o may_v be_v to_o intimate_v that_o they_o run_v but_o low_o former_o if_o compare_v to_o what_o they_o do_v now_o which_o may_v also_o be_v signify_v by_o this_o that_o they_o issue_v out_o that_o that_o issue_v out_o ordinary_o come_v forth_o but_o slow_o also_o the_o prophet_n say_v the_o first_o time_n he_o go_v through_o the_o water_n 4._o they_o be_v but_o up_o to_o the_o ankle_n but_o what_o be_v ankle_n deep_a to_o that_o which_o follow_v after_o it_o be_v say_v also_o to_o come_v out_o from_o jerusalem_n where_o i_o perceive_v be_v no_o great_a river_n to_o intimate_v that_o as_o long_o as_o the_o first_o priesthood_n first_o temple_n and_o type_n be_v in_o their_o splendour_n only_o the_o shadow_n of_o heavenly_a thing_n be_v in_o use_n and_o that_o then_o grace_n run_v but_o slow_o nor_o will_v run_v much_o fast_o because_o jesus_n be_v not_o yet_o glorify_v for_o the_o spirit_n and_o abundance_n of_o grace_n be_v to_o preference_n in_o that_o he_o say_v out_o thence_o proceed_v a_o pure_a river_n of_o water_n of_o life_n we_o will_v a_o little_a therefore_o speak_v something_o to_o this_o word_n the_o throne_n the_o throne_n of_o god._n 1._o a_o throne_n be_v the_o seat_n of_o majesty_n and_o greatness_n it_o be_v not_o for_o thing_n of_o a_o inferior_a quality_n to_o ascend_v or_o assume_v a_o throne_n now_o then_o since_o this_o river_n of_o water_n of_o life_n proceed_v from_o the_o throne_n it_o intimate_v that_o in_o grace_n and_o mercy_n there_o be_v great_a majesty_n for_o grace_n as_o it_o proceed_v have_v a_o voice_n from_o the_o throne_n and_o indeed_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o heaven_n or_o earth_n that_o can_v so_o awe_o the_o 5._o heart_n as_o the_o grace_n of_o god._n it_o be_v that_o which_o make_v a_o man_n fear_v it_o be_v that_o 9_o which_o make_v a_o man_n tremble_v it_o be_v that_o which_o make_v a_o man_n bow_n and_o bend_v and_o break_v to_o piece_n nothing_o have_v that_o majesty_n and_o command_a greatness_n in_o and_o upon_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o son_n of_o man_n as_o have_v the_o grace_n of_o god._n so_o that_o i_o say_v when_o he_o say_v that_o this_o river_n of_o grace_n proceed_v out_o of_o the_o throne_n of_o god_n it_o be_v to_o show_v we_o what_o a_o majesty_n what_o a_o command_a greatness_n there_o be_v in_o grace_n the_o love_n of_o christ_n constrain_v we_o when_o moses_n go_v up_o to_o the_o mount_n the_o first_o time_n to_o receive_v the_o law_n he_o do_v exceed_o fear_v and_o quake_v why_o because_o of_o the_o fire_n and_o smoak_n thick_a darkness_n and_o thunder_n etc._n etc._n but_o when_o he_o go_v up_o the_o second_o time_n thither_o he_o make_v haste_n and_o bow_v his_o head_n towards_o the_o earth_n and_o worship_v but_o why_o because_o it_o be_v before_o proclaim_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v gracious_a and_o merciful_a long_o suffer_v and_o abundant_a in_o goodness_n and_o truth_n keep_v mercy_n for_o thousand_o forgive_a iniquity_n transgression_n and_o sin_n etc._n etc._n there_o be_v nothing_o over-mastereth_a the_o heart_n like_o grace_n and_o so_o oblige_v to_o sincere_a and_o unfeigned_a obedience_n as_o that_o examine_v i_o o_o lord_n 3._o say_v david_n prove_v i_o and_o try_v my_o reins_o and_o my_o heart_n for_o thy_o love_a kindness_n be_v before_o my_o eye_n and_o i_o have_v reign_v wherefore_o it_o be_v expect_v that_o they_o that_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n grace_n shall_v submit_v thereto_o and_o that_o at_o their_o peril_n he_o that_o believe_v not_o shall_v be_v authority_n there_o be_v none_o above_o the_o throne_n there_o be_v no_o appeal_n from_o the_o throne_n there_o be_v inferior_a court_n of_o judicature_n there_o be_v under-governor_n and_o they_o may_v sometime_o perhaps_o be_v faulty_a wherefore_o in_o some_o case_n a_o appeal_n from_o such_o may_v be_v lawful_a or_o permit_v but_o from_o the_o throne_n none_o can_v appeal_v now_o grace_n be_v upon_o the_o throne_n reign_v upon_o the_o throne_n proceed_v from_o the_o throne_n a_o man_n may_v appeal_v from_o the_o law_n to_o the_o throne_n from_o moses_n to_o christ_n from_o he_o that_o speak_v on_o earth_n to_o he_o that_o speak_v from_o heaven_n but_o from_o heaven_n to_o earth_n from_o christ_n to_o moses_n none_o can_v appeal_v moses_n himself_o have_v forbid_v it_o for_o moses_n weigh_v and_o deep_o consider_v by_o we_o it_o be_v not_o a_o saint_n nor_o a_o minister_n nor_o a_o prophet_n nor_o a_o angel_n that_o speak_v for_o all_o these_o be_v but_o servant_n but_o inferior_n no_o it_o be_v a_o voice_n from_o the_o throne_n from_o authority_n from_o the_o high_a authority_n it_o be_v the_o lord_n from_o heaven_n this_o grace_n proceed_v from_o the_o throne_n and_o therefore_o man_n must_v stand_v and_o fall_v by_o what_o shall_v come_v from_o hence_o he_o that_o come_v not_o hither_o to_o drink_v shall_v die_v for_o thirst_n he_o that_o refuse_v this_o water_n now_o shall_v not_o have_v so_o much_o as_o will_v hang_v upon_o the_o tip_n of_o his_o finger_n if_o it_o will_v save_v his_o soul_n hereafter_o how_o shall_v we_o escape_v if_o we_o and_o receive_v it_o not_o in_o vain_a 2._o as_o grace_n be_v exalt_v and_o make_v proceed_v out_o of_o the_o throne_n to_o its_o own_o praise_n to_o its_o own_o glory_n so_o be_v it_o also_o thus_o
