believer_n as_o christ_n say_v to_o he_o that_o believe_v all_o thing_n be_v possible_a these_o thing_n albeit_o they_o be_v the_o excellent_a gift_n of_o god_n notwithstanding_o if_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v absent_a even_o they_o shall_v be_v turn_v into_o enemy_n unto_o we_o and_o therefore_o be_v it_o needful_a that_o we_o be_v strong_o fence_a against_o they_o with_o the_o tentation_n to_o ourselves_o but_o patient_o suffer_v it_o when_o it_o please_v the_o lord_n to_o send_v it_o for_o he_o that_o without_o the_o lead_n aside_o of_o the_o spirit_n shall_v voluntary_o bring_v himself_o into_o danger_n of_o hunger_n or_o any_o other_o tentation_n when_o by_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n he_o have_v what_o to_o eat_v and_o drink_v and_o whereby_o to_o live_v quiet_o he_o i_o say_v shall_v plain_o tempt_v the_o lord_n we_o must_v not_o procure_v to_o ourselves_o poverty_n and_o tentation_n they_o will_v come_v soon_o enough_o of_o themselves_o only_o when_o they_o you_o of_o good_a comfort_n i_o have_v overcome_v the_o world_n and_o if_o god_n can_v without_o meat_n nourish_v his_o christ_n forty_o day_n &_o so_o many_o night_n so_o he_o câ—â—_n also_o christian_n we_o be_v exhort_v also_o here_o that_o according_a to_o this_o example_n of_o christ_n we_o suffer_v hunger_n tentation_n and_o other_o necessity_n when_o they_o come_v and_o when_o the_o case_n so_o require_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n &_o profit_n of_o our_o neighbour_n and_o sure_o if_o we_o do_v earnest_o confess_v and_o stick_v to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n these_o thing_n will_v undouted_o come_v unto_o us._n the_o present_a text_n therefore_o contain_v a_o marvelous_a consolation_n and_o strengthen_n of_o faith_n against_o the_o filthy_a and_o incredulous_a belly_n which_o be_v diligent_o and_o faithful_o weigh_v our_o conscience_n shall_v be_v very_a much_o comfort_v and_o strengthen_v that_o we_o may_v not_o be_v careful_a for_o live_v but_o trust_v with_o a_o full_a confidence_n that_o god_n will_v give_v we_o plentiful_o those_o thing_n that_o be_v necessary_a now_o that_o this_o tentation_n also_o be_v incident_a unto_o we_o it_o be_v manifest_a for_o aside_o into_o the_o wilderness_n or_o leave_v alone_o and_o therefore_o can_v not_o feel_v tentation_n while_o these_o thing_n remain_v goodness_n satan_n tempt_v christ_n with_o care_n for_o the_o belly_n and_o diffidence_n of_o god_n goodness_n second_o satan_n come_v and_o tempt_v christ_n with_o this_o care_n for_o the_o belly_n and_o diffidence_n of_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n say_v if_o thou_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n command_v that_o these_o stone_n be_v make_v bread_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v according_a to_o the_o dutch_n proverb_n trust_v in_o god_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a attempt_v any_o such_o thing_n or_o use_v not_o the_o thing_n present_a as_o bread_n apparel_n house_n and_o such_o like_a look_v with_o peril_n while_o god_n provide_v otherwise_o for_o he_o by_o miracle_n we_o read_v of_o a_o certain_a eremite_n who_o because_o he_o have_v vow_v to_o take_v bread_n of_o no_o man_n bring_v himself_o into_o peril_n by_o hunger_n and_o so_o perish_v and_o undouted_o go_v straight_o unto_o hell_n because_o of_o that_o false_a faith_n and_o tempt_a of_o god_n which_o he_o learn_v no_o other_o where_o but_o of_o that_o devil_n so_o that_o his_o madness_n be_v altogether_o like_o that_o whereunto_o satan_n here_o persuade_v christ_n to_o wit_n that_o he_o shall_v cast_v himself_o down_o from_o a_o pinnacle_n of_o the_o temple_n howbeit_o thou_o shall_v find_v very_o few_o which_o do_v follow_v this_o eremite_n and_o do_v differre_fw-la to_o enjoy_v corporal_a thing_n present_v for_o that_o they_o hope_v that_o god_n will_v give_v they_o other_o temple_n bid_v they_o cast_v themselves_o down_o and_o they_o obey_v he_o they_o descend_v where_o as_o be_v no_o way_n that_o be_v they_o believe_v and_o trust_v in_o god_n yet_o so_o as_o they_o trust_v also_o in_o their_o own_o work_n in_o which_o be_v no_o place_n at_o all_o for_o faith_n and_o trust_n no_o way_n or_o path_n unto_o god_n wherefore_o throw_v themselves_o down_o headlong_o they_o break_v their_o neck_n fall_v into_o utter_a desperation_n now_o satan_n persuade_v miserable_a man_n unto_o this_o madness_n as_o also_o he_o persuade_v christ_n to_o cast_v himself_o down_o from_o a_o pinnacle_n of_o the_o temple_n by_o place_n of_o scripture_n pervert_v and_o misapply_v wherein_o work_n be_v command_v whereby_o he_o make_v they_o believe_v that_o the_o angel_n shall_v tentation_n and_o the_o cause_n of_o they_o do_v great_o differ_v in_o the_o former_a the_o cause_n why_o man_n do_v not_o believe_v be_v need_n and_o hunger_n for_o they_o be_v thereby_o move_v to_o plenty_n howsoever_o god_n deal_v with_o we_o we_o be_v not_o content_a our_o incredulity_n be_v a_o bottomless_a pit_n of_o malice_n and_o ungodliness_n again_o the_o devil_n take_v he_o up_o into_o a_o exceed_a high_a mountain_n world_n tentation_n by_o vain_a glory_n pleasure_n and_o delight_n of_o the_o world_n here_o he_o tempt_v with_o vain_a glory_n &_o power_n of_o the_o world_n as_o by_o the_o word_n of_o the_o devil_n do_v plain_o appear_v who_o show_v christ_n the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o world_n offer_v they_o to_o he_o if_o he_o will_v worship_v he_o by_o this_o tentation_n they_o be_v overcome_v which_o revolt_n from_o faith_n that_o they_o may_v enjoy_v glory_n and_o power_n here_o or_o at_o least_o do_v so_o temper_v their_o faith_n that_o they_o lose_v not_o these_o thing_n out_o of_o the_o common_a number_n they_o may_v be_v extol_v on_o high_a so_o we_o may_v place_v this_o tentation_n on_o the_o right_a hand_n as_o the_o first_o assail_v we_o on_o the_o left_a for_o in_o adversity_n or_o constancy_n in_o prosperity_n can_v be_v of_o no_o importance_n for_o in_o both_o even_a heretic_n

reign_v victor_n by_o the_o second_o he_o can_v be_v content_a that_o they_o that_o be_v his_o do_v often_o time_n suffer_v poverty_n patient_o and_o do_v also_o contemn_v the_o world_n although_o they_o do_v neither_o of_o both_o with_o a_o simple_a hart_n and_o sincere_a faith_n every_o one_o therefore_o of_o these_o three_o tentation_n be_v grievous_a and_o very_a hard_a but_o the_o middle_a one_o be_v most_o perilous_a of_o all_o for_o it_o assayl_v the_o doctrine_n of_o faith_n and_o be_v spiritual_a and_o wont_a to_o deceive_v in_o spiritual_a thing_n the_o other_o two_o also_o do_v assail_v faith_n howbeit_o in_o these_o outward_a thing_n as_o adversity_n &_o prosperity_n although_o they_o do_v also_o urge_v we_o very_o sore_o for_o it_o can_v not_o be_v a_o little_a grievous_a one_o order_n for_o luke_n have_v set_v that_o last_o which_o matthew_n have_v set_v in_o the_o mid_n &_o that_o which_o matthew_n have_v set_v last_o luke_n have_v place_v in_o the_o mid_n but_o there_o do_v not_o so_o much_o consist_v in_o the_o order_n notwithstanding_o when_v any_o will_v teach_v the_o people_n concern_v these_o tentation_n it_o be_v better_a to_o follow_v the_o order_n give_v unto_o he_o those_o kingdom_n and_o require_v that_o he_o will_v worship_v he_o and_o undouted_o he_o do_v not_o appear_v like_o a_o devil_n when_o he_o do_v these_o thing_n for_o he_o love_v to_o appear_v after_o a_o fair_a sort_n especial_o when_o he_o will_v lie_v and_o deceive_v 11.14_o 1._o cor._n 11.14_o for_o than_o he_o transform_v himself_o into_o a_o angel_n of_o light_n as_o paul_n witness_v now_o this_o be_v write_v chief_o for_o our_o consolation_n deliverance_n in_o the_o time_n of_o tentation_n we_o must_v nothing_o doubt_v of_o god_n help_n and_o deliverance_n that_o wherein_o that_o which_o be_v due_a by_o the_o law_n be_v remit_v grace_n the_o kingdom_n of_o grace_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n where_o he_o reign_v by_o the_o gospel_n there_o be_v no_o
