appearance_n of_o christ_n as_o in_o the_o text._n a_o saint_n by_o faith_n look_v upon_o his_o union_n with_o christ_n as_o a_o son_n and_o so_o satisfy_v itself_o with_o the_o appearance_n of_o god_n so_o the_o apostle_n paul_n in_o rom._n 8._o the_o latter_a end_n he_o eye_n there_o his_o union_n with_o christ_n and_o so_o be_v carry_v above_o tribulation_n or_o distress_n or_o the_o breath_n it_o cost_n he_o but_o little_o that_o give_v it_o he_o will_v spend_v as_o much_o breath_n upon_o the_o low_a subject_n that_o afford_v he_o matter_n of_o discourse_n these_o title_n be_v indeed_o the_o please_a dream_n of_o delude_a fancy_n if_o put_v in_o one_o equal_a balance_n and_o hold_v by_o a_o steady_a hand_n sir_n will_v weigh_v as_o heavy_a as_o your_o honour_n but_o if_o honour_n be_v give_v where_o honour_n it_o due_a according_a to_o god_n rule_n in_o his_o word_n their_o honour_n be_v more_o than_o a_o title_n i_o but_o there_o it_o will_v be_v no_o subject_n of_o to_o crucify_v the_o life_n liberty_n conscience_n and_o all_o that_o be_v indeed_o dear_a to_o other_o to_o make_v a_o sacrifice_n for_o his_o lust_n of_o pride_n though_o he_o have_v no_o power_n but_o what_o he_o have_v receive_v yet_o he_o have_v so_o much_o cruelty_n as_o to_o make_v use_n
of_o that_o power_n beyond_o and_o contrary_a to_o that_o end_n he_o receive_v it_o for_o otherwise_o the_o imposition_n upon_o the_o people_n of_o god_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o their_o god_n and_o disappointment_n in_o their_o room_n but_o also_o vexation_n of_o spirit_n it_o be_v so_o with_o ionas_n when_o the_o gourd_n fail_v he_o he_o say_v he_o do_v well_o to_o be_v angry_a disappointment_n have_v a_o mighty_a weight_n upon_o a_o natural_a heart_n the_o hope_n of_o the_o world_n do_v puff_n up_o like_o a_o bladder_n which_o be_v fill_v only_o with_o wind_n but_o the_o disappointment_n of_o the_o world_n come_v like_o a_o millstone_n that_o press_v down_o to_o the_o dust_n nay_o the_o hope_n of_o the_o world_n have_v so_o many_o fear_n mix_v with_o they_o that_o it_o be_v hard_o to_o discover_v which_o be_v most_o the_o hope_n or_o the_o fear_n but_o when_o the_o disappointment_n come_v than_o the_o former_a hope_n increase_v the_o present_a grief_n and_o the_o complain_n then_o be_v as_o the_o prophet_n be_v my_o friend_n that_o lie_v in_o my_o bosom_n have_v betray_v i_o i_o neither_o know_v it_o nor_o fear_v it_o to_o be_v a_o break_a reed_n till_o i_o have_v place_v my_o hope_n and_o confidence_n in_o it_o and_o that_o weight_n discover_v it_o indeed_o say_v this_o poor_a heart_n though_o i_o have_v no_o mind_n to_o think_v of_o die_v yet_o i_o can_v and_o storm_n but_o the_o poor_a soul_n which_o thus_o trust_v in_o the_o world_n do_v not_o see_v it_o vanity_n be_v not_o know_v of_o the_o worm_n that_o be_v at_o the_o root_n of_o the_o gourd_n trust_v in_o they_o than_o the_o figleaf_n be_v a_o garment_n to_o cover_v the_o nakedness_n of_o our_o first_o parent_n neither_o of_o both_o can_v beget_v confidence_n enough_o to_o come_v into_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n where_o the_o spirit_n seal_v up_o this_o truth_n to_o any_o soul_n sure_a there_o will_v be_v no_o more_o trust_v of_o or_o in_o the_o world_n or_o in_o any_o thing_n under_o the_o sun_n because_o vanity_n comprehend_v it_o all_o psal_n 61.9_o man_n of_o low_a degree_n be_v vanity_n and_o man_n of_o high_a degree_n be_v a_o lie_n altogether_o light_a than_o vanity_n so_o that_o trust_n man_n or_o man_n of_o what_o degreee_v soever_o they_o must_v deceive_v because_o they_o be_v vanity_n the_o man_n of_o high_a degree_n in_o his_o outside_n promise_v more_o than_o he_o of_o low_a degree_n but_o he_o will_v prove_v a_o lie_n there_o be_v a_o worm_n at_o his_o root_n he_o will_v wither_v to_o nothing_o methinks_v the_o prophet_n counsel_n psal_n 2.10_o come_v in_o very_o suitable_a to_o this_o purpose_n be_v wise_a now_o therefore_o o_o you_o king_n be_v learned_a you_o that_o be_v judge_n of_o the_o earth_n serve_v the_o lord_n with_o fear_n service_n will_v be_v worse_o than_o the_o beginning_n it_o be_v great_a pity_n then_o that_o the_o world_n have_v so_o many_o servant_n see_v it_o be_v so_o unfaithful_a a_o master_n how_o many_o be_v there_o that_o serve_v the_o world_n as_o they_o shall_v serve_v god_n with_o all_o their_o soul_n their_o spirit_n and_o their_o strength_n improve_n their_o life_n liberty_n and_o interest_n to_o serve_v vanity_n and_o to_o lift_v up_o flish_a though_o in_o that_o work_n they_o do_v their_o utmost_a to_o wound_n christ_n in_o his_o member_n it_o be_v a_o sad_a employment_n to_o blow_v up_o those_o flame_n that_o shall_v burn_v he_o that_o blow_v it_o to_o ash_n this_o be_v the_o evil_n of_o that_o work_n to_o serve_v the_o interest_n of_o the_o world_n against_o the_o interest_n of_o god_n they_o dig_v their_o own_o grave_n they_o wound_v their-owne_a soul_n and_o heighten_v the_o fury_n of_o those_o flame_n which_o will_v make_v they_o cry_v out_o for_o a_o drop_n of_o we_o first_o and_o that_o first_o be_v when_o we_o lie_v in_o our_o blood_n and_o no_o eye_n can_v pity_v we_o he_o be_v the_o original_n of_o our_o love_n therefore_o worthy_a to_o be_v love_v by_o that_o which_o flow_v from_o himself_o he_o have_v all_o loveliness_n in_o he_o and_o therefore_o worthy_a to_o have_v all_o love_n centre_n in_o he_o that_o which_o be_v the_o fountain_n of_o love_n may_v just_o claim_v to_o be_v the_o object_n of_o love_n saint_n may_v well_o say_v of_o god_n and_o christ_n as_o the_o spouse_n do_v of_o christ_n that_o there_o be_v not_o belove_v like_o her_o belove_a for_o love_n and_o loveliness_n the_o best_a way_n of_o express_v this_o be_v to_o let_v god_n and_o christ_n have_v all_o our_o love_n by_o this_o we_o plain_o tell_v that_o there_o be_v no_o object_n our_o eye_n can_v look_v on_o so_o lovely_a as_o god_n and_o christ_n communion_n and_o fellowship_n with_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n be_v a_o place_n of_o delight_n for_o the_o soul_n of_o saint_n love_n take_v delight_n in_o god_n and_o christ_n for_o there_o be_v banquet_n of_o love_n and_o banner_n of_o love_n bosom_n of_o love_n and_o word_n of_o love_n elect_v love_n and_o redeem_v love_n justify_v sanctify_a and_o glorify_v love_n these_o be_v object_n of_o delight_n indeed_o here_o we_o may_v feed_v abundant_o and_o be_v satisfy_v but_o can_v never_o be_v cloy_v o_o be_v wise_a then_o stand_z aside_o perish_v world_n away_o with_o all_o those_o vanity_n under_o the_o sun_n there_o be_v a_o brightness_n outshine_v it_o and_o a_o glory_n that_o swallow_v it_o up_o there_o be_v no_o beauty_n below_o god_n nor_o any_o excellency_n out_o of_o god_n and_o who_o ever_o have_v a_o spiritual_a knowledge_n thus_o of_o god_n will_v by_o the_o same_o light_n be_v
