these_o two_o extreme_n may_v just_o be_v call_v a_o liberal_a man_n give_v where_o when_o to_o such_o person_n and_o in_o such_o sort_n as_o be_v fit_a for_o respect_n of_o honesty_n unto_o liberality_n be_v join_v magnificence_n which_o be_v a_o virtue_n concern_v riches_n also_o which_o the_o magnifical_a man_n use_v in_o great_a thing_n and_o such_o as_o be_v to_o have_v long_a continuance_n &_o be_v do_v in_o respect_n of_o virtue_n as_o sumptuous_a building_n rich_a furniture_n and_o the_o like_a therefore_o a_o poor_a man_n can_v actual_o attain_v to_o be_v either_o magnificent_a or_o liberal_a the_o liliberall_a man_n be_v not_o magnificent_a because_o magnificence_n be_v more_o than_o liberality_n but_o the_o magnificent_a man_n be_v liberal_a arm_v in_o arm_n with_o magnificence_n go_v magnanimity_n wait_v upon_o by_o mansuetude_n desire_v of_o honour_n verity_n affablity_n &_o urbanity_n all_o which_o virtue_n appertain_v to_o civil_a conversation_n &_o be_v very_o profitable_a breed_v decency_n honesty_n dignity_n and_o honour_n and_o though_o honour_n be_v reckon_v in_o the_o number_n of_o those_o thing_n that_o be_v call_v exterior_a good_n yet_o be_v it_o high_o to_o be_v prise_v among_o all_o other_o because_o it_o be_v the_o certain_a token_n of_o virtuous_a life_n and_o be_v the_o due_a reward_n of_o virtue_n for_o virtue_n have_v two_o sort_n of_o reward_n the_o one_o that_o be_v outward_a and_o that_o be_v honour_n which_o come_v from_o other_o that_o honour_n virtue_n and_o be_v not_o in_o the_o virtuous_a man_n himself_o the_o other_o inward_a which_o be_v felicity_n the_o true_a and_o perfect_a end_n of_o all_o our_o virtuous_a action_n while_o we_o be_v alive_a and_o man_n have_v all_o these_o virtuous_a habit_n in_o he_o get_v by_o continual_a well_o do_v which_o consist_v in_o particular_n he_o have_v also_o need_v of_o the_o conversation_n of_o other_o man_n lest_o the_o occasion_n of_o do_v virtuous_o shall_v fail_v he_o for_o though_o a_o man_n have_v never_o so_o perfect_a a_o knowledge_n of_o all_o the_o virtue_n unless_o he_o put_v they_o in_o action_n he_o can_v never_o be_v happy_a and_o special_o therefore_o be_v friendship_n necessary_a for_o he_o which_o either_o be_v a_o virtue_n or_o fast_o link_v to_o virtue_n and_o grow_v out_o of_o the_o love_n which_o man_n bear_v first_o to_o their_o parent_n and_o kinsman_n next_o to_o their_o citizen_n or_o countryman_n and_o last_o to_o stranger_n for_o as_o concern_v civil_a felicity_n man_n can_v nor_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v alone_o in_o which_o respect_n conversation_n and_o friendship_n be_v necessary_a for_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o the_o same_o some_o therefore_o have_v say_v that_o it_o be_v as_o hurtful_a to_o take_v the_o bright_a shine_a beam_n of_o the_o sun_n from_o the_o world_n as_o to_o deprive_v man_n of_o the_o benefit_n of_o friendship_n since_o without_o friend_n a_o man_n be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v happy_a as_o it_o may_v be_v say_v he_o can_v live_v or_o be_v at_o all_o this_o friendship_n be_v a_o communion_n and_o knit_n together_o of_o mind_n which_o neither_o length_n of_o time_n distance_n of_o place_n great_a prosperity_n nor_o great_a adversity_n ne_o yet_o any_o other_o grievous_a accident_n may_v sever_v or_o separate_v and_o plotinus_n though_o all_o his_o drift_n be_v to_o raise_v man_n from_o all_o base_a affect_n of_o the_o mind_n and_o to_o settle_v he_o in_o contemplation_n yet_o he_o think_v friendship_n necessary_a no_o less_o for_o the_o mind_n then_o for_o the_o body_n that_o other_o solitariness_n which_o appertain_v to_o contemplation_n this_o place_n serve_v not_o to_o speak_v we_o may_v therefore_o right_a well_o conclude_v that_o without_o friendship_n a_o man_n can_v have_v his_o civil_a felicity_n accomplish_v but_o if_o i_o shall_v say_v all_o that_o may_v be_v say_v concern_v friendship_n i_o shall_v be_v too_o long_o neither_o will_v i_o have_v necessity_n of_o friend_n be_v the_o true_a &_o comfortable_a sauce_n to_o friendship_n it_o will_v make_v he_o to_o show_v the_o greatness_n of_o his_o courage_n in_o great_a thing_n guide_v always_o by_o judgement_n and_o reason_n and_o to_o direct_v all_o his_o action_n to_o the_o mark_n of_o honour_n a_o thing_n esteem_v as_o we_o have_v say_v among_o all_o other_o the_o great_a external_a good_a not_o that_o he_o shall_v set_v honour_n for_o his_o end_n for_o that_o he_o know_v will_v be_v unfitting_a but_o honourable_a and_o virtuous_a action_n content_v himself_o that_o honour_n be_v the_o reward_n of_o they_o and_o virtue_n be_v the_o hire_n for_o herself_o for_o to_o she_o other_o will_v give_v honour_n as_o to_o a_o divine_a thing_n wheresoever_o they_o shall_v see_v she_o but_o magnanimity_n be_v not_o a_o virtue_n fit_a for_o every_o man_n but_o for_o such_o only_a as_o be_v furnish_v with_o all_o other_o virtue_n and_o among_o virtuous_a man_n be_v esteem_v in_o with_o great_a difficulty_n but_o the_o more_o travel_n be_v take_v in_o get_v it_o the_o great_a be_v the_o praise_n to_o he_o that_o have_v purchase_v the_o same_o he_o that_o be_v adorn_v with_o this_o virtue_n joy_v when_o great_a honour_n fall_v upon_o he_o he_o little_o esteem_v any_o peril_n when_o honesty_n invit_v he_o thereunto_o and_o not_o anger_n nor_o fury_n nor_o desire_n of_o revenge_n nor_o only_a respect_n of_o honour_n in_o matter_n of_o riches_n he_o always_o observe_v a_o due_a temper_n as_o well_o as_o the_o liberal_a man_n who_o he_o excel_v in_o this_o that_o the_o magnanimous_a man_n exercise_v his_o virtue_n in_o high_a matter_n that_o bear_v with_o they_o dignity_n and_o importance_n whereas_o the_o liberal_a man_n be_v busy_v in_o thing_n of_o less_o moment_n he_o have_v also_o a_o due_a regard_n concern_v honour_n in_o the_o purchase_n whereof_o he_o be_v not_o injurious_a or_o threaten_a nor_o puff_v up_o with_o pride_n or_o ambition_n but_o know_v right_o well_o that_o who_o so_o offer_v injury_n to_o another_o can_v be_v right_o call_v magnanimous_a he_o abstain_v from_o do_v any_o and_o if_o any_o man_n have_v offer_v he_o injury_n
