their_o duty_n second_o here_o be_v their_o privilege_n and_o success_n they_o trust_v that_o be_v they_o rest_v and_o quiet_v themselves_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o serenity_n and_o tranquillity_n in_o a_o faithful_a reliance_n upon_o god_n now_o second_o for_o the_o ground_n of_o inference_n or_o connexion_n of_o these_o word_n with_o the_o former_a therefore_o do_v the_o son_n time_n they_o be_v guilty_a of_o and_o what_o a_o answer_n will_v they_o make_v you_o for_o it_o why_o myself_o shall_v have_v the_o worst_a of_o it_o no_o body_n shall_v smart_v for_o it_o but_o we_o hear_v before_o out_o of_o the_o prophet_n ezekiel_n but_o to_o conclude_v thou_o alone_o shall_v bear_v it_o it_o may_v be_v understand_v as_o to_o the_o exclude_v of_o sympathy_n and_o commiseration_n there_o be_v many_o which_o be_v alone_o in_o suffer_v if_o we_o speak_v of_o the_o evil_n itself_o none_o suffer_v with_o they_o in_o reality_n which_o yet_o be_v not_o alone_o as_o to_o the_o affection_n many_o here_o have_v compassion_n on_o themâ—_n but_o now_o this_o be_v further_a the_o punishment_n of_o scorner_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v deny_v this_o piece_n of_o ease_n that_o be_v or_o can_v be_v as_o to_o outward_a respect_n and_o appearance_n as_o it_o be_v in_o psal_n 5.4_o 5_o thou_o be_v not_o a_o god_n that_o have_v pleasure_n in_o wickedness_n neither_o commodity_n which_o they_o may_v receive_v by_o they_o as_o in_o act._n 12.20_o it_o be_v note_v of_o the_o tyrian_n and_o sydonian_o as_o a_o reason_n for_o which_o they_o so_o much_o desire_v the_o second_o be_v the_o positive_a inconvenience_n as_o it_o expose_v to_o all_o kind_n of_o evil_n and_o mischief_n which_o may_v be_v otherwise_o avoid_v those_o that_o be_v not_o at_o peace_n contrary_a to_o all_o man_n as_o it_o be_v say_v concern_v the_o jew_n 1_o thes_n 2.15_o wicked_a man_n they_o have_v neither_o peace_n with_o those_o that_o be_v good_a nor_o with_o those_o that_o be_v evil_a and_o as_o bad_a as_o themselves_o though_o they_o agree_v in_o their_o general_a principle_n yet_o they_o do_v not_o agree_v always_o in_o their_o particular_a interest_n and_o have_v any_o last_a or_o continuance_n with_o it_o the_o work_n of_o righteousness_n be_v peace_n and_o the_o effect_n of_o righteousness_n be_v quietness_n and_o assurance_n for_o ever_o and_o that_o exclusive_o as_o we_o have_v it_o in_o esaiah_n 32.17_o and_o this_o second_o instance_n which_o we_o be_v now_o upon_o it_o be_v ground_v upon_o the_o first_o therefore_o it_o be_v that_o wicked_a man_n have_v no_o peace_n at_o all_o with_o man_n because_o they_o have_v no_o peace_n indeed_o with_o god_n who_o be_v the_o author_n and_o giver_n of_o peace_n who_o fashion_v man_n heart_n alike_o and_o make_v they_o to_o be_v of_o one_o mind_n both_o in_o a_o house_n and_o every_o where_o else_o so_o that_o those_o which_o break_v with_o he_o they_o can_v have_v any_o perfect_a correspondency_n with_o any_o other_o whatsoever_o the_o apostle_n paul_n when_o he_o will_v obtain_v peace_n for_o his_o belove_a thessalonian_o how_o do_v he_o go_v about_o to_o procure_v it_o namely_o by_o pray_v to_o god_n for_o it_o that_o he_o will_v bestow_v it_o upon_o they_o the_o lord_n of_o peace_n himself_o give_v you_o peace_n always_o by_o all_o mean_n 2_o thes_n 2.16_o for_o now_o observe_v here_o further_o for_o this_o pray_v itself_o how_o it_o be_v express_v namely_o in_o the_o time_n past_a it_o be_v not_o i_o will_v pray_v for_o thou_o but_o i_o have_v pray_v not_o i_o will_v do_v it_o hereafter_o no_o but_o i_o have_v do_v it_o already_o we_o see_v here_o the_o readiness_n and_o forwardness_n of_o christ_n for_o we_o he_o be_v full_a as_o nimble_a and_o as_o speedy_a as_o satan_n satan_n he_o have_v desire_v already_o and_o christ_n he_o have_v pray_v already_o he_o be_v as_o forward_o to_o help_v we_o as_o the_o other_o to_o conspire_v against_o we_o this_o be_v still_o the_o comfort_n of_o believer_n that_o they_o have_v such_o a_o advocate_n as_o this_o be_v one_o that_o sit_v at_o the_o right-hand_a of_o god_n and_o so_o be_v privy_a to_o all_o the_o accusation_n which_o be_v bring_v against_o they_o and_o attempt_n which_o be_v make_v upon_o they_o it_o be_v very_o sweet_a and_o comfortable_a there_o be_v no_o danger_n which_o be_v incident_a to_o a_o believer_n but_o christ_n he_o be_v acquaint_v with_o it_o and_o there_o be_v no_o danger_n which_o he_o observe_v to_o be_v near_o he_o but_o he_o take_v care_n and_o divert_v it_o from_o he_o we_o see_v here_o how_o christ_n aforehand_o with_o we_o he_o pray_v for_o peter_n before_o peter_n pray_v for_o himself_o or_o very_o well_o know_v that_o he_o have_v any_o need_n and_o advantage_n of_o the_o prayer_n of_o such_o a_o relation_n a_o father_n or_o husband_n or_o brother_n or_o any_o other_o acquaintance_n gracious_a and_o holy_a person_n they_o take_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o contentment_n in_o the_o mutual_a remembrance_n of_o one_o another_o at_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n oh_o but_o when_o they_o shall_v consider_v that_o they_o have_v the_o remembrance_n of_o christ_n himself_o this_o must_v needs_o be_v especial_o please_v and_o delightful_a unto_o they_o and_o satisfy_v they_o in_o any_o condition_n yea_o it_o be_v comfortable_a in_o all_o our_o own_o weakness_n and_o inability_n which_o be_v upon_o we_o it_o fall_v out_o to_o be_v sometime_o the_o case_n and_o condition_n of_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n that_o they_o be_v hardly_o able_a to_o pray_v for_o themselves_o such_o a_o straitness_n and_o difficulty_n in_o they_o and_o indisposition_n upon_o they_o but_o now_o when_o they_o can_v have_v christ_n to_o do_v it_o for_o they_o this_o supply_v it_o and_o make_v it_o up_o to_o they_o with_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o advantage_n there_o be_v a_o double_a supply_n to_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n in_o such_o case_n the_o one_o be_v the_o intercession_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o the_o other_o be_v the_o intercession_n of_o christ_n and_o both_o very_a considerable_a of_o they_o first_o for_o the_o spirit_n be_v intercession_n that_o we_o have_v mention_v make_v of_o in_o rom._n 8.26_o 27._o likewise_o the_o spirit_n also_o help_v our_o infirmity_n for_o we_o know_v not_o what_o we_o shall_v pray_v for_o as_o we_o ought_v but_o the_o spirit_n if_o self_n make_v intercession_n for_o we_o with_o groan_n that_o can_v be_v utter_v and_o he_o that_o search_v the_o heart_n know_v what_o be_v the_o mind_n of_o tell_v peter_n of_o it_o which_o he_o know_v not_o before_o and_o there_o be_v very_o good_a use_n now_o and_o then_o of_o such_o a_o carriage_n as_o this_o be_v not_o only_o of_o pray_v for_o our_o friend_n in_o the_o thing_n itself_o but_o likewise_o in_o some_o circumstance_n of_o signify_v as_o much_o unto_o they_o though_o it_o be_v better_a they_o shall_v know_v it_o in_o the_o event_n and_o by_o the_o efficacy_n of_o it_o to_o themselves_o yet_o there_o may_v be_v some_o case_n and_o cause_n sometime_o for_o the_o discovery_n of_o as_o much_o unto_o they_o as_o st._n paul_n frequent_o in_o his_o epistle_n make_v request_n for_o you_o and_o remember_v you_o in_o my_o prayer_n etc._n etc._n partly_o for_o the_o increase_n of_o love_n and_o affection_n between_o christian_a and_o christian_n which_o hereby_o be_v very_o much_o preserve_v partly_o also_o for_o the_o stir_v up_o of_o our_o brethren_n to_o the_o performance_n of_o the_o like_a office_n of_o love_n for_o ourselves_o as_o we_o have_v occasion_n for_o it_o and_o partly_o again_o to_o secure_v one_o another_o as_o to_o the_o state_n and_o condition_n in_o which_o we_o be_v who_o have_v a_o stock_n of_o prayer_n go_v for_o we_o and_o be_v according_o inform_v of_o it_o may_v from_o hence_o be_v more_o comfort_v in_o ourselves_o and_o thus_o do_v our_o saviour_n here_o to_o peter_n in_o this_o intimation_n i_o have_v pray_v for_o thou_o before_o we_o let_v go_v this_o passage_n there_o be_v somewhat_o here_o further_o to_o be_v observe_v from_o this_o adversative_a particle_n but._n but_o i_o have_v pray_v for_o thou_o which_o stand_v in_o opposition_n to_o that_o which_o be_v say_v before_o concern_v satan_n desire_n satan_n have_v desire_v to_o have_v you_o but_o i_o have_v pray_v for_o thou_o which_o he_o add_v by_o way_n of_o consolation_n and_o to_o prevent_v discouragement_n in_o peter_n and_o in_o the_o rest_n of_o his_o disciple_n it_o be_v a_o grievous_a thing_n for_o they_o to_o hear_v of_o satan_n attempt_n that_o he_o lay_v wait_v to_o catch_v and_o entrap_v they_o and_o desire_v to_o ensnare_v they_o yea_o but_o here_o be_v now_o that_o which_o qualify_v it_o that_o christ_n also_o do_v pray_v for_o they_o and_o the_o prayer_n of_o christ_n be_v more_o prevalent_a than_o the_o desire_n of_o satan_n he_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o do_v more_o for_o they_o than_o the_o other_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o do_v against_o they_o and_o god_n will_v soon_o hear_v his_o son_n beg_v and_o entreat_v for_o they_o than_o he_o will_v hear_v satan_n clamour_v and_o cry_v against_o they_o a_o christian_n privilege_n be_v above_o his_o disadvantage_n and_o we_o may_v here_o further_o observe_v and_o take_v notice_n of_o the_o wisdom_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o expression_n of_o himself_o here_o to_o peter_n where_o he_o endeavour_v to_o keep_v he_o in_o a_o even_a temper_n betwixt_o fear_n and_o hope_n that_o he_o may_v the_o better_o provoke_v he_o to_o watchfulness_n and_o heedfulness_n and_o care_n of_o his_o way_n he_o therefore_o tell_v he_o that_o satan_n have_v desire_v he_o and_o yet_o withal_o that_o he_o keep_v he_o from_o discouragement_n and_o despondency_n and_o dejection_n of_o spirit_n he_o tell_v he_o also_o that_o himself_o have_v pray_v for_o he_o but_o i_o have_v etc._n etc._n in_o this_o adversative_a but_o there_o be_v a_o threefold_a antithesis_fw-la or_o opposition_n which_o may_v be_v here_o observe_v and_o take_v notice_n of_o by_o we_o first_o a_o opposition_n of_o the_o person_n christ_n against_o satan_n second_o a_o opposition_n of_o the_o action_n pray_v against_o desire_v three_o a_o opposition_n of_o the_o success_n establishment_n against_o circumvention_n first_o a_o opposition_n of_o the_o person_n christ_n against_o satan_n it_o be_v the_o devil_n that_o
