to_o read_v they_o with_o the_o same_o spirit_n they_o be_v preach_v and_o you_o can_v but_o acknowledge_v a_o excellency_n in_o they_o among_o other_o his_o excellency_n in_o preach_v which_o be_v many_o these_o be_v not_o the_o least_o that_o he_o can_v so_o cook_n his_o meat_n that_o he_o can_v make_v it_o relish_v to_o every_o pallate_n he_o can_v dress_v a_o plain_a discourse_n so_o as_o that_o all_o sort_n shall_v be_v delight_v with_o it_o he_o can_v preach_v with_o a_o learned_a plaineness_n and_o have_v learned_a to_o conceal_v his_o art_n he_o have_v clear_a notion_n of_o high_a mystery_n and_o proper_a language_n to_o make_v they_o stoop_v to_o the_o mean_a capacity_n his_o way_n in_o contrive_v and_o pen_v his_o sermon_n be_v this_o preach_v 1._o he_o so_o contrive_v the_o part_n of_o his_o text_n and_o point_n of_o doctrine_n as_o may_v afford_v he_o most_o scope_n in_o his_o application_n wherein_o his_o and_o indeed_o a_o sermon_n excellency_n do_v consist_v and_o therefore_o he_o use_v to_o say_v that_o in_o a_o sermon_n he_o contrive_v the_o uses_n first_o he_o do_v often_o handle_v the_o same_o text_n and_o the_o same_o point_n and_o yet_o still_o will_v pen_v new_a application_n which_o may_v be_v most_o suitable_a to_o the_o quality_n and_o condition_n of_o the_o auditory_a 2._o in_o pen_v when_o he_o once_o begin_v he_o will_v never_o take_v pen_n from_o paper_n nor_o turn_v to_o any_o book_n till_o he_o have_v write_v all_o all_o his_o young_a day_n for_o about_o twenty_o year_n together_o he_o work_v all_o and_o can_v without_o much_o difficulty_n preach_v the_o same_o verbatim_o he_o be_v wont_a to_o say_v that_o he_o have_v a_o fluid_a and_o waterish_a memory_n i_o can_v say_v he_o quick_o remember_v any_o thing_n of_o my_o own_o and_o as_o quick_o forget_v it_o again_o yet_o questionless_a his_o memory_n be_v vast_a and_o tenacious_a for_o though_o sometime_o he_o have_v but_o short_a note_n in_o his_o bible_n and_o that_o
