prudence_n and_o discretion_n that_o may_v be_v as_o to_o the_o quality_n &_o disposition_n of_o the_o person_n upon_o who_o they_o bestow_v it_o not_o only_o that_o they_o be_v such_o as_o be_v simple_o and_o absolute_o poor_a in_o regard_n of_o their_o necessity_n but_o also_o that_o they_o be_v such_o as_o be_v likely_a conscionable_o to_o improve_v it_o in_o regard_n of_o their_o desert_n otherwise_o it_o be_v not_o bestow_v but_o cast_v away_o to_o make_v friend_n of_o a_o estate_n be_v so_o to_o dispose_v it_o as_o that_o those_o who_o do_v partake_v of_o it_o may_v indeed_o become_v then_o fail_v unto_o they_o this_o mammon_n of_o unrighteousness_n which_o be_v here_o mention_v in_o the_o text_n that_o must_v fail_v too_o among_o the_o rest_n and_o according_o some_o interpreter_n as_o namely_o the_o syriac_a and_o ethiopick_n do_v translate_v the_o word_n when_o it_o fail_v mean_v the_o mammon_n and_o so_o in_o like_a manner_n our_o old_a english_a translator_n that_o when_o you_o shall_v want_v namely_o that_o wealth_n and_o substance_n and_o riches_n which_o now_o you_o enjoy_v for_o there_o be_v a_o time_n for_o the_o deficiency_n of_o it_o when_o it_o will_v cease_v unto_o you_o as_o for_o rich_a man_n to_o fail_v this_o seem_v to_o be_v very_o inconsonant_a and_o in_o consistent_a it_o be_v almost_o contradictio_fw-la in_o adjecto_fw-la there_o be_v none_o who_o be_v less_o in_o danger_n of_o fail_v in_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o world_n than_o those_o that_o be_v rich_a yea_o but_o yet_o even_o these_o may_v also_o fail_v in_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o text_n they_o may_v fail_v to_o the_o world_n when_o they_o do_v not_o fail_v in_o it_o and_o that_o be_v when_o they_o fail_v from_o it_o and_o leave_v and_o forsake_v it_o when_o their_o life_n once_o fail_v they_o every_o thing_n else_o also_o fail_v which_o be_v pertinent_a to_o it_o and_o so_o their_o riches_n among_o the_o rest_n for_o the_o better_a understanding_n of_o this_o in_o the_o sense_n of_o disparagement_n and_o aggravation_n and_o it_o be_v a_o eclipse_n so_o as_o it_o be_v a_o fail_v of_o light_n to_o those_o who_o be_v under_o the_o power_n of_o it_o therefore_o we_o do_v so_o often_o read_v of_o the_o darkness_n of_o death_n because_o the_o eye_n be_v therein_o deprive_v of_o that_o light_n which_o now_o they_o enjoy_v it_o be_v a_o deprivation_n inquiry_n viz._n the_o reason_n of_o the_o denomination_n why_o riches_n be_v here_o style_v by_o our_o bless_a saviour_n the_o riches_n of_o iniquity_n or_o the_o mammon_n of_o unrighteousness_n the_o second_o be_v the_o force_n of_o the_o improvement_n how_o this_o mammon_n of_o unrighteousness_n prove_v so_o available_a &_o efficacious_a to_o the_o make_n of_o friend_n or_o be_v require_v so_o to_o do_v as_o be_v here_o employ_v where_o before_o we_o go_v any_o further_a we_o must_v remove_v a_o difficulty_n and_o objection_n which_o lie_v in_o our_o way_n it_o may_v seem_v by_o what_o be_v here_o express_v as_o if_o our_o saviour_n in_o some_o sort_n do_v approve_v of_o riches_n unlawful_o get_v or_o unlawful_o possess_v because_o without_o any_o further_a taxation_n or_o censure_v upon_o they_o but_o only_o name_v they_o he_o do_v advise_v the_o person_n he_o speak_v to_o that_o they_o will_v make_v themselves_o friend_n of_o they_o and_o so_o thereby_o as_o it_o be_v make_v some_o recompense_n for_o the_o iniquity_n of_o they_o which_o be_v indeed_o the_o best_a use_n and_o improvement_n which_o too_o many_o make_v of_o this_o counsel_n but_o this_o be_v far_o enough_o from_o the_o mind_n of_o our_o bless_a saviour_n who_o while_o he_o call_v it_o the_o mammon_n of_o iniquity_n do_v not_o thereby_o so_o much_o signify_v what_o it_o may_v be_v as_o what_o it_o and_o concernment_n of_o those_o which_o be_v rich_a first_o here_o be_v the_o poor_a man_n duty_n and_o if_o he_o be_v right_a his_o disposition_n which_o be_v be_v relieve_v by_o the_o rich_a to_o become_v a_o friend_n unto_o he_o this_o our_o saviour_n here_o plain_o suppose_v and_o take_v for_o grant_v while_o he_o speak_v to_o rich_a man_n to_o make_v the_o poor_a to_o be_v their_o friend_n which_o be_v expect_v from_o they_o indeed_o oftentimes_o through_o man_n corruption_n it_o prove_v otherwise_o in_o the_o event_n it_o be_v the_o base_a ingratitude_n and_o unworthynesse_n of_o some_o kind_n of_o people_n to_o be_v least_o of_o all_o friend_n there_o where_o they_o have_v receive_v the_o great_a friendship_n those_o who_o have_v do_v they_o the_o great_a kindness_n bestow_v the_o most_o cost_n upon_o they_o be_v most_o charitable_a and_o bountiful_a towards_o they_o those_o be_v the_o person_n oftentimes_o who_o be_v most_o hate_a and_o malign_v by_o they_o and_o they_o be_v the_o deadly_a enemy_n against_o they_o so_o fearful_a a_o creature_n be_v a_o man_n when_o he_o once_o degenerate_v but_o this_o be_v monstruous_a and_o unnatural_a and_o contrary_a to_o all_o rational_a expectation_n it_o be_v that_o which_o one_o will_v not_o look_v for_o and_o therefore_o do_v our_o saviour_n in_o this_o place_n suppose_v the_o contrary_a he_o make_v account_n that_o these_o rich_a man_n while_o they_o be_v free_a of_o their_o riches_n to_o the_o poor_a they_o will_v thereby_o make_v they_o their_o friend_n and_o indeed_o so_o they_o will_v where_o ever_o they_o be_v that_o which_o they_o shall_v be_v where_o they_o be_v godly_a and_o christian_a poor_a they_o will_v be_v ready_a to_o make_v conscience_n of_o such_o grateful_a return_n as_o these_o be_v piety_n its_o full_a of_o its_o ingenuity_n and_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o good-nature_n in_o grace_n from_o whence_o it_o think_v it_o can_v never_o do_v enough_o for_o those_o person_n
