will_v not_o trouble_v you_o with_o that_o distinction_n there_o the_o cause_n go_v not_o beyond_o the_o effect_n as_o fire_n beget_v fire_n and_o it_o can_v but_o beget_v it_o and_o it_o can_v go_v beyond_o it_o for_o it_o be_v a_o natural_a cause_n and_o produce_v effect_n like_a to_o itself_o so_o a_o lion_n beget_v a_o lion_n because_o it_o be_v a_o natural_a cause_n but_o there_o be_v cause_n wherein_o it_o be_v not_o so_o wherein_o you_o must_v not_o say_v that_o there_o be_v no_o such_o effect_n and_o therefore_o the_o cause_n do_v not_o go_v beyond_o it_o that_o be_v in_o voluntary_a cause_n wherein_o the_o cause_n not_o work_v necessary_o but_o by_o the_o liberty_n of_o his_o will_n and_o he_o may_v be_v able_a to_o do_v much_o more_o than_o he_o do_v object_n 2_o god_n can_v do_v these_o thing_n be_v not_o because_o there_o be_v a_o restraint_n of_o his_o power_n but_o because_o the_o thing_n be_v not_o possible_a to_o be_v do_v because_o he_o can_v make_v truth_n to_o be_v falsehood_n or_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o to_o be_v whatsoever_o imply_v a_o contradiction_n he_o can_v do_v and_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o the_o thing_n be_v not_o to_o be_v do_v but_o in_o thing_n simple_o possible_a therein_o consist_v his_o omnipotence_n as_o when_o it_o be_v not_o contrary_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o thing_n as_o when_o the_o predicate_a be_v not_o repugnant_a to_o the_o nature_n and_o essence_n of_o the_o subject_n as_o a_o lion_n be_v a_o lion_n can_v be_v a_o man_n this_o be_v a_o thing_n that_o can_v be_v do_v therefore_o it_o be_v it_o be_v true_a when_o any_o power_n be_v appoint_v and_o destinate_a to_o any_o act_n it_o be_v so_o far_o in_o vain_a as_o it_o do_v not_o attain_v to_o that_o end_n and_o act_v as_o bread_n be_v appoint_v to_o nourish_v if_o it_o do_v not_o it_o be_v not_o fit_a for_o the_o end_n to_o which_o it_o be_v make_v and_o so_o in_o vain_a i_o may_v say_v the_o same_o of_o every_o thing_n else_o but_o that_o be_v not_o the_o end_n of_o god_n power_n to_o bring_v forth_o any_o effect_n answerable_a to_o itself_o for_o his_o power_n to_o speak_v proper_o have_v no_o end_n but_o all_o thing_n be_v make_v for_o it_o in_o other_o thing_n the_o cause_n be_v proportionable_a for_o its_o end_n but_o he_o himself_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o other_o thing_n all_o that_o he_o do_v be_v for_o himself_o and_o therefore_o though_o he_o do_v not_o produce_v any_o such_o effect_n yet_o his_o power_n be_v infinite_a second_o when_o there_o be_v a_o repugnancy_n in_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o thing_n it_o be_v no_o shorten_v or_o limitation_n of_o his_o power_n now_o a_o creature_n if_o it_o be_v a_o creature_n must_v be_v finite_a and_o the_o lord_n can_v do_v what_o may_v be_v do_v but_o to_o make_v a_o creature_n infinite_a be_v a_o contradiction_n and_o therefore_o if_o he_o do_v not_o do_v it_o it_o be_v not_o because_o he_o can_v but_o because_o the_o thing_n itself_o can_v be_v do_v we_o now_o come_v to_o the_o application_n of_o this_o point_n use_v 1_o if_o god_n be_v almighty_a then_o let_v all_o those_o that_o be_v in_o covenant_n with_o god_n and_o that_o have_v interest_n in_o he_o that_o can_v say_v they_o be_v the_o lord_n and_o the_o lord_n be_v they_o let_v they_o exceed_o rejoice_v in_o this_o that_o they_o have_v a_o almighty_a god_n for_o their_o god_n god_n to_o have_v a_o friend_n that_o be_v able_a to_o do_v all_o thing_n as_o we_o tell_v you_o before_o he_o be_v every_o where_o present_a it_o be_v a_o great_a benefit_n to_o have_v a_o friend_n in_o court_n in_o country_n a_o friend_n beyond_o the_o sea_n if_o you_o shall_v have_v occasion_n to_o be_v banish_v thither_o but_o if_o you_o add_v this_o he_o be_v able_a to_o do_v
