our_o carnal_a corruption_n neither_o can_v we_o by_o any_o other_o mean_v so_o clear_o show_v our_o love_n to_o god_n as_o by_o hate_v sin_n which_o above_o all_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n be_v most_o hateful_a and_o odious_a unto_o he_o and_o the_o only_a cause_n which_o make_v he_o abhor_v even_o his_o excellent_a creature_n so_o that_o though_o he_o love_v they_o as_o be_v his_o own_o work_n yet_o he_o detest_v they_o be_v defile_v with_o the_o filthy_a spot_n of_o sin_n yea_o so_o odious_a be_v sin_n unto_o our_o righteous_a god_n that_o he_o can_v not_o choose_v but_o punish_v that_o satan_n want_v no_o opportunity_n of_o circumvent_a we_o because_o we_o can_v put_v no_o difference_n between_o his_o temptation_n and_o our_o own_o carnal_a desire_n and_o therefore_o he_o have_v get_v as_o it_o be_v our_o own_o watchword_n we_o be_v ready_a to_o open_v the_o gate_n of_o our_o soul_n when_o he_o offer_v to_o enter_v and_o to_o yield_v to_o his_o temptation_n as_o soon_o unto_o he_o why_o he_o may_v not_o entrap_v they_o in_o some_o more_o secret_a ambushment_n hence_o it_o be_v that_o though_o he_o begin_v his_o fight_n with_o cunning_a policy_n take_v upon_o he_o the_o person_n of_o a_o friend_n and_o transform_v himself_o into_o a_o angel_n of_o light_n yet_o this_o be_v no_o impediment_n but_o that_o he_o may_v afterward_o again_o appear_v and_o violent_o assault_v we_o in_o his_o own_o likeness_n as_o he_o assault_v our_o saviour_n first_o with_o subtle_a and_o secret_a temptation_n like_o a_o friend_n and_o well-willer_n and_o when_o he_o can_v not_o our_o own_o thought_n or_o as_o i_o say_v the_o motion_n of_o god_n spirit_n because_o it_o be_v quite_o contrary_a to_o the_o former_a §_o sect._n 10_o seeing_n therefore_o the_o matter_n stand_v thus_o lust_n how_o we_o may_v avoid_v danger_n though_o we_o can_v discern_v satan_n temptation_n from_o our_o own_o lust_n how_o may_v we_o resist_v satan_n consider_v that_o we_o can_v discern_v his_o suggestion_n from_o our_o own_o cogitation_n i_o answer_v we_o must_v be_v skilful_a in_o god_n word_n and_o thereby_o able_a to_o judge_v what_o be_v good_a and_o what_o be_v evil_a to_o discern_v what_o be_v virtue_n and_o what_o be_v vice_n what_o god_n have_v command_v and_o what_o he_o have_v forbid_v which_o be_v the_o motion_n of_o god_n spirit_n and_o which_o the_o suggestion_n of_o satan_n and_o the_o thought_n of_o our_o corrupt_a flesh_n and_o then_o be_v we_o careful_o to_o embrace_v that_o which_o our_o conscience_n approove_v as_o good_a be_v inform_v by_o god_n word_n and_o to_o avoid_v and_o reject_v those_o motion_n which_o we_o know_v to_o be_v evil_a whether_o they_o do_v proceed_v from_o satan_n or_o from_o ourselves_o for_o it_o be_v not_o great_o material_a to_o know_v who_o be_v the_o author_n of_o they_o so_o we_o be_v assure_v that_o they_o be_v evil_a and_o wicked_a neither_o be_v it_o any_o dangerous_a error_n to_o ascribe_v satan_n suggestion_n wily_a serpent_n second_o when_o as_o the_o suggestion_n be_v urge_v with_o great_a force_n and_o violence_n and_o leave_v behind_o it_o a_o deep_a impression_n which_o seem_v to_o bring_v a_o necessity_n of_o do_v that_o which_o be_v even_o contrary_a to_o natural_a reason_n whereas_o the_o suggestion_n of_o the_o flesh_n do_v rather_o lead_v and_o entice_v we_o then_o draw_v and_o enforce_v we_o unto_o sin_n three_o the_o temptation_n of_o satan_n move_v we_o oftentimes_o to_o such_o outrageous_a wickedness_n and_o hellish_a impiety_n that_o even_o nature_n corrupt_v do_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v come_v to_o a_o man_n who_o have_v endure_v much_o and_o tedious_a sickness_n and_o shall_v say_v unto_o he_o thou_o do_v imagine_v thyself_o awhile_o ago_o very_o beautiful_a and_o exceed_o strong_a but_o thou_o be_v much_o deceive_v for_o if_o thou_o look_v in_o a_o glass_n thou_o shall_v present_o perceive_v that_o thou_o be_v lean_a pale_a and_o deform_v and_o if_o the_o time_n of_o health_n but_o this_o be_v the_o very_a like_o case_n and_o thus_o sottish_o do_v satan_n conclude_v or_o rather_o delude_v god_n child_n in_o the_o time_n of_o temptation_n for_o he_o say_v thus_o unto_o they_o thou_o do_v persuade_v thyself_o that_o thou_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n and_o in_o his_o love_n and_o favour_n that_o thou_o be_v endue_v with_o faith_n patience_n
