and_o quick_a cold_a instead_o of_o heat_n or_o mix_v with_o pungent_a heat_n in_o the_o breast_n sometime_o concoction_n impedit_v vomit_v excite_v and_o the_o humour_n become_v corrupt_v or_o at_o least_o vitiate_a and_o so_o be_v a_o very_a noxious_a and_o unhealthy_a passion_n this_o proceed_v from_o the_o tie_n that_o be_v between_o the_o soul_n &_o the_o body_n as_o when_o any_o corporeal_a action_n be_v join_v with_o a_o thought_n one_o still_o accompany_v the_o other_o as_o be_v apparent_a in_o such_o who_o have_v a_o aversion_n to_o some_o medicine_n they_o can_v think_v on_o it_o but_o the_o taste_n smell_v &c_n &c_n come_v also_o immediate_o into_o their_o thought_n for_o the_o blood_n or_o some_o good_a and_o delectable_a chime_n get_v into_o the_o heart_n and_o become_v a_o more_o convenient_a alimony_n than_o ordinary_a to_o maintain_v heat_n there_o the_o principle_n of_o life_n occasion_n the_o soul_n to_o join_v in_o will_n to_o this_o alimony_n viz._n love_v it_o and_o thus_o at_o the_o same_o time_n the_o spirit_n descend_v from_o the_o brain_n to_o the_o muscle_n may_v press_v or_o agitate_v the_o part_n from_o whence_o it_o come_v to_o the_o heart_n stomach_n and_o entrail_n who_o agitation_n increase_v the_o appetite_n or_o to_o the_o liver_n and_o lung_n which_o the_o muscle_n of_o the_o diaphragma_n may_v press_v whence_o the_o same_o motion_n of_o the_o spirit_n ever_o since_o accompany_v the_o passion_n of_o love_n on_o the_o contrary_a in_o hatred_n some_o strange_a chime_v not_o proper_a to_o maintain_v the_o heat_n of_o the_o heart_n but_o rather_o like_a to_o extinguish_v it_o be_v thereunto_o communicate_v and_o so_o the_o spirit_n ascend_v to_o the_o brain_n from_o the_o heart_n excite_v the_o passion_n of_o hatred_n in_o the_o soul_n and_o thus_o these_o same_o spirit_n be_v from_o the_o brain_n transmit_v to_o the_o nerve_n may_v expel_v the_o blood_n from_o the_o spleen_n and_o the_o small_a vein_n of_o the_o liver_n to_o the_o heart_n to_o hinder_v the_o noxious_a succ_fw-la from_o enter_v and_o move_v to_o those_o which_o may_v repel_v this_o juice_n to_o the_o entrail_n and_o the_o stomach_n or_o sometime_o to_o cause_v the_o stomach_n to_o eject_v it_o whence_o these_o motion_n accompany_v the_o passion_n of_o hatred_n concupiscence_n benevolence_n and_o concupiscence_n there_o be_v two_o effect_n of_o love_n benevolence_n and_o concupiscence_n the_o former_a be_v when_o we_o wish_v well_o to_o what_o we_o love_n the_o latter_a when_o we_o desire_v the_o thing_n love_v there_o be_v different_a passion_n that_o yet_o participate_v of_o love_n as_o the_o ambitious_a love_n glory_n the_o avaritious_a riches_n the_o amorous_a a_o woman_n the_o drunkard_n wine_n which_o though_o different_a yet_o participate_v of_o love_n they_o be_v alike_o devotion_n affection_n friendship_n and_o devotion_n however_o love_n be_v not_o always_o the_o same_o and_o alike_o for_o it_o admit_v of_o degree_n as_o when_o we_o esteem_v a_o object_n of_o love_n less_o than_o we_o esteem_v ourselves_o it_o may_v be_v term_v only_o a_o affection_n when_o we_o value_v it_o equal_a to_o ourselves_o it_o may_v be_v term_v friendship_n when_o more_o devotion_n and_o sometime_o we_o love_v mere_o for_o the_o possession_n of_o the_o object_n whereunto_o our_o passion_n relate_v and_o not_o the_o object_n itself_o for_o which_o we_o have_v only_o a_o desire_n mix_v with_o other_o particular_a passion_n as_o ambition_n avarice_n etc._n etc._n but_o the_o love_n a_o generous_a soul_n and_o a_o man_n of_o knowledge_n as_o it_o be_v clear_a they_o do_v must_v needs_o precede_v joy_n and_o sadness_n except_o when_o joy_n and_o sadness_n proceed_v from_o knowledge_n and_o when_o the_o thing_n this_o knowledge_n incline_v we_o to_o love_n be_v in_o themselves_o true_o good_a or_o to_o hate_n true_o evil_a love_n be_v then_o most_o excellent_a and_o transcendent_a for_o it_o join_v thing_n that_o not_o manifest_v but_o by_o pain_n therefore_o it_o be_v never_o enough_o to_o be_v avoid_v though_o it_o proceed_v from_o a_o true_a knowledge_n since_o it_o be_v not_o only_o prejudicial_a to_o the_o soul_n but_o extreme_o hurtful_a to_o the_o body_n if_o it_o exceed_v in_o relation_n to_o its_o health_n much_o more_o be_v it_o then_o to_o be_v shun_v when_o it_o arise_v from_o any_o false_a by_o thou_o these_o be_v the_o ordinary_a effect_n of_o drink_v and_o when_o the_o sense_n and_o reason_n be_v denubilate_v what_o vice_n may_v it_o not_o be_v a_o inlet_a to_o bring_v all_o disease_n both_o of_o body_n and_o mind_n upon_o the_o transgressor_n as_o i_o have_v elsewhere_o note_v to_o which_o i_o may_v here_o add_v this_o good-fellowship_n will_v prove_v the_o worst_a fellowship_n
