forth_o no_o fruit_n of_o their_o faith_n in_o good_a work_n and_o the_o duty_n of_o a_o godly_a life_n second_o civil_a worldling_n and_o superstitious_a papist_n who_o please_v themselves_o with_o their_o blind_a devotion_n will-worship_n humane_a invention_n and_o some_o outward_a show_n of_o good_a work_n as_o fasting_n penance_n almesdeed_n hospitality_n and_o such_o like_a do_v think_v god_n also_o please_v with_o they_o and_o will_v reward_v they_o with_o heavenly_a happiness_n when_o as_o they_o be_v destitute_a of_o true_a faith_n and_o utter_o ignorant_a of_o god_n and_o his_o their_o sin_n through_o some_o affliction_n or_o upon_o the_o hear_n of_o some_o powerful_a sermon_n do_v somewhat_o grieve_v for_o their_o sin_n and_o so_o betake_v themselves_o at_o least_o in_o many_o thing_n to_o a_o new_a course_n of_o life_n the_o which_o their_o sorrow_n accompany_v with_o this_o reformation_n they_o think_v please_v to_o god_n and_o sufficient_a to_o secure_v they_o of_o their_o salvation_n though_o they_o be_v destitute_a of_o the_o save_a knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o a_o lively_a faith_n in_o christ_n and_o do_v these_o duty_n not_o out_o of_o love_n towards_o god_n follow_v their_o assurance_n of_o his_o love_n towards_o they_o but_o out_o of_o self-love_n and_o servile_a fear_n either_o of_o temporal_a punishment_n or_o eternal_a death_n and_o condemnation_n but_o let_v they_o all_o know_v that_o a_o lively_a faith_n and_o a_o godly_a life_n be_v inseparable_a companion_n which_o never_o go_v asunder_o for_o as_o well_o may_v we_o part_v the_o heat_n from_o the_o fire_n the_o light_n from_o the_o sun_n and_o make_v a_o good_a tree_n retain_v still_o its_o nature_n barren_a of_o fruit_n as_o separate_v true_a faith_n and_o a_o godly_a life_n one_o from_o another_o and_o therefore_o that_o the_o strong_a faith_n of_o carnal_a protestant_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o fruitless_a security_n and_o fond_a presumption_n that_o the_o both_o as_o common_a unto_o they_o §._o sect._n 5_o their_o objection_n answer_v who_o pretend_v the_o want_n of_o mean_n but_o here_o again_o they_o be_v ready_a to_o object_n that_o if_o they_o have_v such_o mean_n of_o knowledge_n and_o other_o save_a grace_n as_o other_o enjoy_v and_o such_o help_n and_o furtherance_n in_o the_o duty_n of_o a_o godly_a life_n as_o many_o abound_v with_o then_o with_o some_o reason_n they_o be_v to_o be_v blame_v if_o they_o do_v neglect_v they_o but_o alas_o they_o be_v under_o some_o ignorant_a or_o idle_a minister_n which_o can_v or_o will_v not_o instruct_v they_o or_o such_o unconscionable_a guide_n as_o shine_v not_o in_o the_o light_n of_o a_o good_a example_n but_o rather_o lay_v stumble_v stone_n of_o offence_n before_o they_o by_o their_o enormous_a and_o scandalous_a life_n and_o neglect_v all_o good_a duty_n themselves_o do_v dishearten_v and_o discountenance_v they_o who_o be_v careful_a to_o perform_v they_o rather_o than_o any_o way_n encourage_v they_o either_o by_o their_o word_n or_o action_n in_o which_o regard_n they_o think_v that_o they_o may_v be_v excuse_v if_o they_o be_v not_o so_o zealous_a and_o forward_a in_o perform_v the_o religious_a duty_n of_o god_n service_n and_o of_o a_o godly_a life_n to_o which_o i_o have_v in_o part_n before_o answer_v namely_o that_o if_o this_o be_v our_o case_n first_o we_o must_v use_v all_o good_a mean_n to_o move_v they_o to_o their_o duty_n &_o especial_o that_o we_o pour_v forth_o our_o hearty_a prayer_n unto_o god_n for_o our_o pastor_n and_o minister_n entreat_v he_o that_o he_o will_v inlighten_v their_o mind_n and_o sanctify_v their_o heart_n and_o affection_n and_o so_o make_v they_o as_o able_a as_o willing_a to_o perform_v those_o high_a and_o holy_a duty_n unto_o which_o they_o be_v call_v and_o second_o if_o the_o course_n which_o they_o still_o hold_v afford_v we_o no_o better_o hope_n then_o account_v the_o glorify_v of_o god_n in_o the_o eternal_a salvation_n of_o our_o soul_n that_o one_o thing_n necessary_a which_o be_v far_o to_o be_v prefer_v before_o all_o earthly_a commodity_n we_o must_v labour_v to_o place_n ourselves_o under_o such_o pastor_n and_o teacher_n as_o will_v careful_o and_o conscionable_o break_v unto_o we_o the_o bread_n of_o life_n and_o shine_v before_o we_o not_o only_o in_o the_o light_n of_o doctrine_n but_o also_o of_o a_o holy_a life_n &_o conversation_n in_o the_o mean_a time_n these_o outward_a want_n must_v not_o make_v we_o neglect_v the_o religious_a duty_n of_o a_o godly_a life_n or_o if_o they_o do_v they_o can_v be_v sufficient_a to_o excuse_v our_o negligence_n which_o do_v not_o so_o much_o proceed_v from_o the_o want_n of_o external_a mean_n or_o those_o discouragement_n which_o be_v without_o we_o as_o from_o the_o secret_a corruption_n that_o lie_v lurk_v within_o us._n which_o if_o they_o be_v thorough_o mortify_v and_o our_o heart_n inflame_v with_o fervent_a zeal_n and_o true_a devotion_n we_o will_v not_o be_v move_v by_o these_o public_a defect_n and_o discouragement_n to_o neglect_v the_o private_a duty_n of_o god_n service_n yea_o rather_o we_o will_v use_v they_o with_o more_o diligence_n as_o be_v through_o want_n of_o the_o other_o press_v upon_o we_o with_o a_o great_a necessity_n for_o he_o that_o have_v no_o friend_n or_o parent_n to_o look_v unto_o he_o or_o such_o as_o great_o care_v not_o whether_o he_o feed_v upon_o wholesome_a food_n or_o famish_v for_o want_n of_o bread_n find_v that_o he_o be_v the_o more_o bind_v hereby_o to_o provide_v for_o himself_o whereas_o contrariwise_o these_o corruption_n which_o make_v we_o neglect_v the_o duty_n of_o god_n service_n still_o remain_v in_o we_o and_o quench_v in_o our_o heart_n all_o zeal_n and_o devotion_n will_v make_v we_o alike_o cold_a and_o negligent_a in_o our_o private_a exercise_n of_o religion_n although_o the_o public_a mean_n which_o we_o enjoy_v be_v never_o so_o excellent_a of_o the_o former_a we_o have_v a_o example_n in_o david_n who_o when_o he_o live_v in_o the_o barren_a wilderness_n have_v his_o soul_n so_o water_v with_o the_o dew_n of_o god_n grace_n that_o it_o never_o bring_v forth_o more_o &_o better_a fruit_n of_o holiness_n and_o so_o inflame_v with_o the_o fire_n of_o god_n spirit_n that_o he_o be_v never_o more_o devout_a in_o religious_a exercise_n nor_o more_o zealous_a in_o the_o private_a duty_n of_o god_n service_n though_o be_v banish_v and_o exile_v from_o the_o tabernacle_n and_o the_o public_a place_n of_o god_n
