justification_n and_o salvation_n when_o they_o see_v that_o many_o who_o profess_v faith_n be_v find_v to_o deceive_v themselves_o let_v we_o see_v how_o every_o believer_n may_v be_v make_v strong_a in_o the_o faith_n and_o sure_a of_o his_o own_o election_n and_o salvation_n upon_o solid_a ground_n by_o sure_a warrant_n and_o true_a evidence_n of_o faith_n to_o this_o end_n among_o many_o other_o scripture_n take_v these_o follow_v 1._o for_o lay_v solid_a ground_n of_o faith_n consider_v 2_o pet._n 1.10_o wherefore_o the_o rather_o brethren_n give_v diligence_n to_o make_v sure_a your_o call_n and_o election_n for_o if_o you_o do_v these_o thing_n you_o shall_v never_o fall_v in_o which_o word_n the_o apostle_n teach_v we_o these_o four_o thing_n for_o help_v and_o direction_n how_o to_o be_v make_v strong_a in_o the_o faith_n 1._o that_o such_o as_o believe_v in_o christ_n jesus_n and_o be_v flee_v to_o he_o for_o relief_n from_o sin_n and_o wrath_n albeit_o they_o be_v weak_a in_o the_o faith_n yet_o they_o be_v indeed_o child_n of_o the_o same_o father_n with_o the_o apostle_n for_o so_o he_o account_v of_o they_o while_o he_o call_v they_o brethren_n 2._o that_o albeit_o we_o be_v not_o sure_a for_o the_o time_n of_o our_o effectual_a call_n and_o election_n yet_o we_o may_v be_v make_v sure_a of_o both_o if_o we_o use_v diligence_n for_o this_o he_o presuppose_v say_v give_v diligence_n to_o make_v your_o call_n and_o election_n sure_a 2._o that_o we_o must_v not_o be_v discourage_v when_o we_o see_v many_o seem_a believer_n prove_v rot_a branch_n and_o make_v defection_n but_o we_o must_v the_o rather_o take_v the_o better_a heed_n to_o ourselves_o wherefore_o the_o rather_o brethren_n say_v he_o give_v all_o diligence_n 4._o that_o the_o way_n to_o be_v sure_a both_o of_o our_o effectual_a call_n and_o election_n be_v to_o make_v sure_a work_n of_o our_o faith_n by_o lay_v the_o ground_n of_o it_o solid_o and_o bring_v forth_o ground_n from_o whence_o our_o freedom_n from_o the_o curse_n of_o the_o law_n do_v flow_v be_v the_o covenant_n of_o redemption_n pass_v betwixt_o god_n and_o god_n the_o son_n as_o incarnate_a than_o god_n will_v be_v content_v to_o be_v reconcile_v with_o they_o free_o 3._o the_o word_n of_o god_n serve_v to_o teach_v man_n how_o to_o carry_v themselves_o towards_o god_n as_o friend_n after_o they_o be_v reconcile_v to_o he_o viz._n to_o be_v loath_a to_o sin_n against_o he_o and_o to_o strive_v hearty_o to_o obey_v his_o commandment_n and_o therefore_o the_o word_n of_o god_n here_o be_v call_v the_o word_n of_o reconciliation_n because_o it_o teach_v we_o what_o need_v we_o have_v of_o reconciliation_n and_o how_o to_o make_v it_o and_o how_o to_o keep_v the_o reconciliation_n of_o friendship_n be_v make_v with_o god_n through_o christ._n 5._o that_o albeit_o the_o hear_n believe_a and_o obey_v of_o this_o word_n do_v belong_v to_o all_o those_o to_o who_o this_o gospel_n do_v come_v yet_o the_o office_n of_o preach_v of_o it_o with_o authority_n belong_v to_o none_o but_o to_o such_o only_a as_o god_n do_v call_v to_o this_o ministry_n and_o send_v out_o with_o commission_n for_o this_o work_n this_o the_o apostle_n hold_v forth_o ver_fw-la 18._o in_o these_o word_n he_o have_v commit_v to_o we_o the_o word_n of_o reconciliation_n 6._o that_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n shall_v behave_v themselves_o as_o christ_n messenger_n and_o shall_v close_o follow_v their_o commission_n set_v down_o in_o the_o word_n matth._n 28.19_o 20._o and_o when_o they_o do_v so_o they_o shall_v be_v receive_v by_o the_o people_n as_o ambassador_n from_o god_n for_o here_o the_o apole_n in_o all_o their_o name_n say_v we_o be_v ambassador_n for_o christ_n as_o though_o god_n do_v beseech_v you_o by_o we_o 7._o that_o minister_n in_o all_o earnestness_n of_o affection_n shall_v deal_v with_o people_n to_o acknowledge_v their_o sin_n and_o their_o natural_a enmity_n against_o god_n more_o and_o more_o serious_o and_o to_o consent_v to_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o embassage_n of_o christ_n more_o and_o more_o hearty_o and_o to_o evidence_n more_o and_o more_o clear_o their_o reconciliation_n by_o a_o holy_a carriage_n before_o god_n this_o he_o hold_v forth_o when_o he_o say_v we_o pray_v you_o be_v reconcile_v to_o god_n 8._o that_o in_o the_o minister_n affectionate_a deal_n with_o the_o people_n the_o people_n shall_v consider_v that_o they_o have_v to_o do_v with_o god_n and_o christ_n request_v they_o by_o the_o minister_n to_o be_v reconcile_v now_o there_o can_v be_v a_o great_a inducement_n to_o break_v a_o sinner_n hard_a heart_n than_o god_n make_v request_n to_o he_o for_o friendship_n for_o when_o it_o this_o give_v all_o diligence_n add_v to_o your_o faith_n virtue_n and_o to_o virtue_n knowledge_n ver_fw-la 6._o and_o to_o knowledge_n temperance_n and_o to_o temperance_n patience_n and_o to_o patience_n godliness_n ver_fw-la 7._o and_o to_o godliness_n brotherly_a kindness_n and_o to_o brotherly_a kindness_n charity_n ver_fw-la 8._o for_o if_o these_o thing_n be_v in_o you_o and_o abound_v be_v temperance_n which_o serve_v to_o moderate_v the_o use_n of_o all_o pleasant_a thing_n that_o a_o man_n be_v not_o cloged_a therewith_o nor_o make_v unfit_a for_o any_o duty_n whereto_o he_o be_v call_v the_o four_o be_v patience_n which_o serve_v to_o moderate_v a_o man_n affection_n when_o he_o meet_v wiâ—h_v any_o difficulty_n or_o unpleasant_a thing_n that_o he_o neither_o weary_a for_o pain_n require_v in_o well_o do_v nor_o faint_v when_o the_o lord_n chastise_v he_o nor_o murmur_v when_o he_o cross_v he_o the_o five_o be_v godliness_n which_o may_v keep_v he_o up_o in_o all_o exercise_n of_o religion_n inward_a and_o outward_a whereby_o he_o may_v be_v furnish_v from_o god_n for_o all_o other_o duty_n which_o he_o have_v to_o do_v the_o six_o be_v brotherly_a kindness_n which_o keep_v estimation_n of_o and_o affection_n to_o all_o the_o household_n of_o faith_n and_o to_o the_o image_n of_o god_n in_o every_o one_o wheresoever_o it_o be_v see_v the_o seven_o be_v love_n which_o keep_v the_o heart_n in_o readiness_n to_o do_v good_a to_o all_o man_n whosoever_o they_o be_v upon_o all_o occasion_n which_o god_n shall_v offer_v 2._o albeit_o it_o be_v true_a that_o there_o be_v much_o corruption_n and_o infirmity_n in_o the_o godly_a yet_o the_o apostle_n will_v have_v man_n upright_o endeavour_v and_o do_v their_o best_a as_o they_o be_v able_a to_o join_v all_o these_o grace_n one_o to_o another_o and_o to_o grow_v in_o the_o measure_n of_o exercise_v of_o they_o give_v all_o diligence_n say_v he_o add_v to_o your_o say_v etc._n etc._n 3._o he_o
