spiritual_a ministry_n and_o worship_n at_o this_o rate_n he_o may_v accuse_v the_o apostle_n yea_o christ_n himself_o as_o blasphemous_a which_o be_v most_o absurd_a and_o blasphemous_a so_o to_o affirm_v who_o be_v for_o a_o spiritual_a ministry_n john_n 4._o and_o spiritual_a worship_n but_o it_o seem_v by_o this_o that_o the_o author_n himself_o be_v only_o for_o a_o carnal_a or_o literal_a ministry_n and_o worship_n and_o he_o say_v they_o viz._n the_o people_n call_v in_o derision_n quaker_n pretend_v that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n now_o come_v down_o upon_o their_o assembly_n as_o it_o do_v in_o the_o apostle_n time_n and_o move_v they_o to_o preach_v and_o pray_v by_o inspiration_n without_o any_o regard_n to_o condition_n or_o sex_n but_o here_o he_o do_v not_o fair_o nor_o true_o represent_v our_o doctrine_n for_o we_o distinguish_v betwixt_o the_o ordinary_a and_o miraculous_a inspiration_n with_o both_o which_o the_o apostle_n be_v endue_v and_o we_o say_v although_o the_o miraculous_a and_o extraordinary_a be_v cease_v yet_o the_o ordinary_a remain_n as_o be_v necessary_a to_o all_o right_n effectual_a preach_a and_o pray_v again_o it_o be_v false_a that_o he_o allege_v we_o say_v the_o spirit_n inspire_v we_o to_o preach_v or_o pray_v without_o any_o regard_n to_o condition_n for_o a_o regard_n there_o be_v have_v unto_o the_o condition_n of_o person_n so_o that_o the_o spirit_n inspire_v none_o to_o preach_v or_o pray_v but_o such_o as_o be_v first_o bring_v into_o some_o measure_n of_o a_o sanctify_a state_n and_o condition_n as_o to_o other_o thing_n he_o mention_n here_o and_o especial_o that_o about_o call_v for_o sign_n and_o miracle_n i_o have_v already_o answer_v he_o above_o and_o here_o i_o will_v have_v he_o to_o consider_v how_o christ_n call_v they_o a_o evil_a and_o adulterous_a generation_n that_o seek_v after_o sign_n and_o what_o if_o we_o can_v show_v sign_n and_o perform_v all_o the_o other_o condition_n he_o require_v of_o we_o that_o he_o may_v believe_v we_o to_o be_v true_o inspire_v will_v he_o then_o in_o good_a earnest_n believe_v we_o to_o be_v divine_o inspire_v have_v he_o not_o call_v the_o very_a principle_n a_o blasphemous_a doctrine_n and_o whereas_o he_o say_v pag._n 38._o he_o deny_v not_o but_o that_o god_n be_v free_a to_o send_v prophet_n when_o he_o please_v and_o that_o he_o may_v do_v so_o when_o the_o exigence_n of_o the_o church_n do_v require_v it_o be_v not_o this_o a_o manifest_a contradiction_n to_o his_o call_v the_o doctrine_n of_o inspiration_n and_o immediate_a revelation_n blasphemous_a or_o be_v god_n free_a to_o send_v when_o he_o please_v any_o blasphemous_a doctrine_n or_o principle_n into_o the_o world_n as_o this_o author_n term_v immediate_a revelatiation_n and_o inspiration_n and_o suppose_v that_o god_n do_v send_v prophet_n or_o man_n immediate_o inspire_v which_o this_o author_n suppose_v he_o may_v can_v god_n send_v any_o thing_n that_o will_v overthrow_v the_o authority_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o annul_v the_o ministerial_a order_n will_v not_o this_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o his_o divine_a infinite_a wisdom_n but_o thus_o we_o see_v what_o inconsistence_n this_o author_n fall_v into_o while_o he_o be_v carry_v with_o such_o a_o preposterous_a zeal_n against_o this_o so_o excellent_a a_o principle_n in_o pag._n 40._o he_o scoff_o taunt_v the_o people_n call_v quaker_n with_o their_o groan_n in_o their_o meeting_n say_v that_o they_o groan_v sufficient_o we_o grant_v for_o sometime_o in_o their_o meeting_n they_o do_v nothing_o else_o but_o if_o their_o groan_a or_o vocal_a devotion_n be_v from_o the_o spirit_n how_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v that_o the_o spirit_n never_o move_v they_o as_o it_o do_v in_o the_o apostle_n day_n to_o pray_v and_o prophesy_v in_o unknown_a tongue_n to_o this_o i_o answer_v many_o have_v both_o groan_v and_o pray_v by_o the_o spirit_n who_o never_o speak_v with_o unknown_a tongue_n as_o i_o think_v the_o author_n will_v confess_v for_o the_o prophet_n pray_v by_o the_o spirit_n before_o christ_n come_v in_o the_o flesh_n and_o yet_o all_o have_v not_o the_o gift_n of_o tongue_n but_o by_o this_o it_o plain_o seem_v he_o disow_v all_o groan_a and_o pray_v by_o the_o spirit_n as_o applicable_a to_o he_o or_o any_o of_o his_o brethren_n this_o i_o say_v again_o be_v far_o contrary_a to_o the_o liturgy_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n and_o how_o know_v he_o that_o sometime_o in_o their_o meeting_n the_o people_n call_v in_o scorn_n quaker_n do_v nothing_o else_o i_o must_v tell_v he_o they_o do_v more_o in_o every_o meeting_n although_o to_o groan_v from_o the_o spirit_n be_v of_o more_o value_n than_o all_o that_o the_o author_n or_o any_o else_o can_v do_v without_o the_o spirit_n viz._n they_o meditate_v they_o wait_v they_o watch_v they_o sing_v and_o make_v a_o melody_n in_o their_o heart_n unto_o the_o lord_n but_o here_o he_o seem_v to_o scoff_n at_o our_o silent_a meeting_n where_o we_o wait_v to_o hear_v what_o god_n will_v speak_v unto_o we_o though_o perhaps_o no_o man_n at_o that_o time_n do_v speak_v which_o be_v well_o enough_o consistent_a
