indeed_o to_o fulfil_v the_o law_n to_o this_o end_n christ_n expon_v sundry_a command_n in_o the_o second_o and_o first_o table_n and_o correct_v five_o or_o six_o corrupt_a gloss_n put_v upon_o the_o law_n by_o the_o jewish_a doctor_n and_o first_o in_o these_o verse_n he_o expon_v the_o six_o command_n repeat_v the_o common-glosse_n of_o the_o pharisee_n receive_v by_o tradition_n who_o esteem_v that_o the_o command_n thou_o shall_v not_o kill_v be_v not_o break_v except_o by_o actual_a gross_a slaughter_n or_o murder_v and_o if_o any_o man_n shall_v commit_v manslaughter_n than_o they_o put_v he_o in_o one_o of_o three_o rank_n the_o first_o be_v to_o be_v bring_v before_o the_o inferior_a judge_n of_o capital_a crime_n and_o to_o be_v in_o danger_n of_o their_o sentence_n judicatory_a of_o capital_a crime_n to_o fit_v in_o great_a city_n and_o there_o to_o be_v in_o danger_n of_o their_o sentence_n which_o be_v to_o denounce_v more_o shameful_a and_o painfall_n death_n than_o the_o inferior_a judicatory_a do_v appoint_v in_o case_n the_o murder_n be_v more_o heinous_a the_o three_o rank_n be_v in_o case_n
the_o long_o insist_v in_o this_o commendation_n of_o john_n and_o have_v say_v sufficient_o he_o close_v with_o this_o speech_n he_o that_o have_v ear_n etc._n etc._n teach_v thereby_o first_o that_o every_o man_n have_v not_o a_o hear_n ear_n but_o some_o be_v deaf_a misbeliever_n of_o god_n word_n import_v in_o these_o word_n he_o that_o have_v ear_n 2._o even_o these_o who_o be_v elect_v of_o they_o it_o be_v say_v let_v they_o hear_v 3._o if_o the_o elect_n shall_v hear_v unto_o believe_v it_o suffice_v god_n intention_n although_o the_o rest_n remain_v ignorant_a misbeliever_n for_o he_o repentance_n and_o judgement_n nor_o to_o rejoice_v at_o christ_n sweet_a offer_n of_o grace_n and_o salvation_n make_v to_o they_o in_o a_o more_o gentle_a and_o love_a way_n hence_o learn_v 1._o that_o the_o obstinacy_n and_o rebellion_n of_o the_o hard_a heart_n of_o christ_n hearer_n affect_v and_o move_v his_o tender_a heart_n with_o grief_n for_o whereunto_o shall_v i_o liken_v they_o do_v import_n so_o much_o 2._o the_o more_o be_v find_v in_o the_o guiltiness_n of_o despise_v the_o gospel_n the_o more_o do_v our_o lord_n resent_v the_o wrong_n and_o regrate_a sinner_n misery_n therefore_o say_v he_o this_o generation_n 3._o hardly_o can_v any_o comparison_n express_v the_o sin_n of_o despise_v of_o the_o gospel_n for_o whereunto_o shall_v i_o liken_v they_o import_v this_o 4._o the_o most_o obvious_a byword_n shall_v be_v make_v use_n of_o to_o condemn_v the_o wickedness_n and_o folly_n of_o they_o who_o despise_v the_o gospel_n in_o the_o conceit_n of_o their_o own_o repentance_n of_o the_o forner_n sort_n be_v john_n baptist_n of_o the_o latter_a christ._n 3._o people_z have_v ever_o some_o fault_n to_o allege_v in_o the_o preacher_n why_o they_o will_v not_o receive_v his_o message_n for_o here_o the_o people_n say_v the_o devil_n it_o in_o john_n because_o he_o choose_v to_o live_v more_o austere_o than_o other_o man_n and_o when_o they_o see_v christ_n converse_v sociable_o with_o sinner_n to_o eat_v and_o drink_v with_o they_o and_o to_o take_v the_o fare_n as_o they_o find_v it_o they_o say_v of_o he_o that_o he_o be_v a_o glutâ—aâ—â—_n a_o in_o the_o sinfulness_n of_o nature_n above_o tyrus_n and_o sidon_n so_o that_o more_o may_v have_v be_v expect_v in_o the_o matter_n of_o repentance_n from_o tyrus_n and_o sidon_n and_o from_o sodom_n and_o gomorrah_n even_o according_a to_o the_o principle_n of_o 〈◊〉_d than_o be_v find_v in_o these_o city_n for_o be_v so_o much_o pain_n have_v be_v take_v on_o they_o as_o be_v take_v on_o capernaum_n etc._n etc._n in_o much_o appearance_n of_o reason_n it_o may_v have_v be_v expect_v that_o they_o shall_v have_v repent_v in_o some_o sort_n and_o have_v give_v such_o sign_n of_o repentance_n at_o least_o as_o with_o ahab_n and_o niniveh_n they_o may_v have_v escape_v temporal_a judgement_n this_o be_v the_o scope_n we_o shall_v not_o stretch_v the_o word_n beyond_o and_o contrary_a to_o it_o hence_o learn_v 1._o that_o the_o miracle_n of_o christ_n be_v do_v by_o his_o own_o power_n for_o here_o they_o be_v call_v his_o mighty_a work_n in_o a_o proper_a sense_n and_o so_o they_o do_v prove_v he_o to_o be_v true_a god_n 2._o the_o use_n which_o shall_v be_v make_v of_o the_o miracle_n of_o christ_n and_o mighty_a work_n do_v by_o he_o be_v repentance_n for_o that_o which_o be_v find_v fault_n with_o here_o be_v they_o repent_v not_o 3._o whosoever_o will_v not_o repent_v when_o god_n call_v for_o repentance_n and_o will_v not_o give_v glory_n to_o god_n when_o he_o call_v for_o it_o he_o will_v pour_v shame_n on_o they_o for_o here_o he_o upbraid_v these_o city_n which_o do_v not_o honour_v he_o ver._n 21._o we_o unto_o thou_o chorazin_n we_o unto_o thou_o
