minister_n and_o people_n of_o this_o parish_n of_o n._n witness_v my_o hand_n these_o or_o the_o like_a solemn_a promise_n do_v not_o as_o far_o as_o i_o be_o able_a to_o apprehend_v so_o much_o as_o shake_v one_o pin_n in_o the_o present_a fabric_n of_o either_o church_n or_o state_n nor_o in_o the_o stipulation_n be_v there_o any_o thing_n promise_v by_o either_o the_o minister_n or_o the_o neighbourhood_n it_o be_v plain_a to_o every_o man_n observation_n that_o all_o the_o persuasive_n of_o man_n to_o any_o undertake_n whether_o by_o represent_v the_o attempt_n as_o necessary_a or_o beneficial_a or_o honourable_a or_o under_o any_o other_o respect_n have_v no_o long_a force_n than_o they_o be_v keep_v present_a and_o fix_v in_o the_o mind_n and_o imagination_n of_o the_o undertaker_n so_o that_o when_o once_o those_o argument_n be_v slip_v out_o of_o the_o thought_n the_o attempt_n go_v on_o very_o dull_o because_o promote_v only_o by_o the_o habitual_a impression_n yet_o remain_v upon_o the_o fancy_n the_o solemnity_n therefore_o of_o this_o promise_n will_v six_z upon_o minister_n such_o a_o last_a and_o warm_a sense_n of_o their_o duty_n and_o so_o frequent_o renew_v their_o thought_n of_o it_o as_o will_v not_o probable_o permit_v they_o easy_o to_o grow_v remiss_a and_o inadvertent_n for_o indeed_o the_o promise_n make_v to_o many_o and_o before_o many_o witness_n will_v be_v apt_a to_o awaken_v in_o minister_n a_o remembrance_n of_o their_o duty_n upon_o the_o very_a sight_n of_o any_o of_o those_o to_o who_o and_o before_o who_o they_o make_v their_o engagement_n but_o why_o shall_v i_o trouble_v my_o reader_n with_o a_o more_o large_a proof_n of_o that_o which_o i_o think_v no_o man_n can_v deny_v who_o be_v but_o master_n of_o so_o much_o judgement_n and_o fancy_n as_o to_o present_v to_o his_o own_o imagination_n as_o it_o be_v in_o different_a scene_n one_o person_n haste_v and_o post_v to_o his_o live_n as_o to_o a_o preferment_n only_o and_o another_o person_n grave_o and_o considerate_o enter_v upon_o his_o employment_n with_o such_o solemn_a application_n to_o the_o people_n as_o this_o we_o speak_v of_o let_v they_o know_v he_o come_v among_o they_o with_o a_o desire_n and_o purpose_n through_o god_n assistance_n to_o serve_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o their_o edification_n in_o the_o truth_n as_o it_o be_v in_o jesus_n christ_n which_o of_o these_o two_o in_o any_o man_n judgement_n be_v likely_a to_o pursue_v the_o work_n of_o his_o office_n with_o the_o more_o vigorous_a diligence_n beside_o this_o very_a solemnity_n of_o entrance_n will_v give_v the_o minister_n such_o a_o esteem_n with_o the_o people_n as_o will_v high_o advantage_v his_o future_a discharge_v for_o when_o themselves_o have_v thus_o by_o covenant_n receive_v he_o they_o will_v look_v upon_o he_o with_o all_o affectionate_a respect_n as_o their_o guide_n yea_o they_o will_v entertain_v he_o as_o a_o angel_n of_o god_n whereas_o now_o the_o people_n till_o they_o have_v trial_n of_o we_o keep_v at_o a_o distance_n and_o be_v shy_a and_o jealous_a of_o we_o and_o if_o after_o some_o time_n they_o find_v that_o we_o be_v not_o proud_a and_o contentious_a or_o strict_a in_o look_v after_o our_o due_n many_o of_o they_o be_v not_o much_o further_a solicitous_a intimate_v therein_o that_o in_o the_o present_a state_n of_o parish_n the_o care_n of_o many_o parishioner_n be_v rather_o to_o have_v a_o well-humoured_a and_o quiet_a neighbour_n than_o a_o able_a and_o faithful_a minister_n and_o there_o be_v no_o question_n to_o be_v make_v but_o that_o the_o like_a postnate_a solemnity_n will_v strengthen_v the_o sense_n of_o duty_n in_o we_o who_o
