or_o merit_n of_o his_o own_o which_o he_o may_v worthy_o lay_v before_o god_n as_o sufficient_a satisfaction_n for_o his_o sin_n which_o do_v then_o afterward_o with_o this_o fear_n shame_n and_o sorrow_n must_v needs_o succeed_v and_o be_v conjoin_v the_o second_o part_n viz._n a_o certain_a faith_n trust_n and_o confidence_n of_o the_o mercy_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n whereby_o the_o penitent_a must_v conceive_v certain_a hope_n and_o faith_n that_o god_n will_v forgive_v he_o his_o sin_n and_o repute_v he_o justify_v and_o of_o the_o number_n of_o his_o elect_a child_n not_o for_o the_o worthiness_n of_o any_o merit_n or_o work_v do_v by_o the_o penitent_a but_o for_o the_o only_a merit_n of_o the_o blood_n and_o passion_n of_o our_o saviour_n jesus_n christ._n item_n that_o this_o certain_a faith_n and_o hope_n be_v get_v and_o also_o confirm_v and_o make_v more_o strong_a by_o the_o apply_v of_o christ_n word_n and_o promise_n of_o his_o grace_n and_o favour_n contain_v in_o his_o gospel_n and_o the_o sacrament_n institute_v by_o he_o in_o the_o new_a testament_n and_o therefore_o to_o attain_v this_o certain_a faith_n the_o second_o part_n of_o penance_n be_v necessary_a that_o be_v to_o say_v confession_n to_o a_o priest_n if_o it_o may_v be_v have_v for_o the_o absolution_n give_v by_o the_o priest_n be_v institute_v of_o christ_n to_o apply_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n grace_n and_o favour_n to_o the_o penitent_a wherefore_o as_o touch_v confession_n we_o will_v that_o all_o bishop_n and_o preacher_n shall_v instruct_v and_o teach_v our_o people_n commit_v by_o we_o to_o their_o spiritual_a charge_n that_o they_o ought_v and_o must_v certain_o believe_v that_o the_o word_n of_o absolution_n pronounce_v by_o the_o priest_n be_v speak_v by_o the_o authority_n give_v to_o he_o by_o christ_n in_o the_o gospel_n item_n that_o they_o ought_v and_o must_v give_v no_o less_o faith_n and_o credence_n to_o the_o same_o word_n of_o absolution_n so_o pronounce_v by_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o church_n than_o they_o will_v give_v unto_o the_o very_a word_n and_o voice_n of_o god_n himself_o if_o he_o shall_v speak_v unto_o we_o out_o of_o heaven_n according_a to_o the_o say_n of_o christ_n quorum_fw-la remiseritis_fw-la peccata_fw-la etc._n etc._n &_o qui_fw-la vos_fw-la audit_n i_o audit_n item_n that_o in_o no_o way_n they_o do_v contemn_v this_o auricular_a confession_n which_o be_v make_v unto_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o church_n but_o that_o they_o ought_v to_o repute_v the_o same_o a_o very_a expedient_a and_o necessary_a mean_n whereby_o they_o may_v require_v and_o ask_v this_o absolution_n at_o the_o priest_n hand_n at_o such_o time_n as_o they_o shall_v find_v their_o conscience_n grieve_v with_o mortal_a sin_n and_o have_v occasion_n so_o to_o do_v to_o the_o intent_n they_o may_v thereby_o attain_v certain_a comfort_n and_o consolation_n of_o their_o conscience_n as_o touch_v the_o three_o part_n of_o penance_n we_o will_v that_o all_o bishop_n and_o preacher_n shall_v instruct_v and_o teach_v our_o people_n commit_v by_o we_o to_o their_o spiritual_a charge_n that_o although_o christ_n and_o his_o death_n be_v the_o sufficient_a oblation_n sacrifice_n satisfaction_n and_o recompense_n for_o the_o which_o god_n the_o father_n forgive_v and_o remit_v to_o all_o sinner_n not_o only_o their_o sin_n but_o also_o eternal_a pain_n due_a for_o the_o same_o yet_o all_o man_n true_o penitent_a contrite_a and_o confess_v must_v needs_o also_o bring_v forth_o the_o fruit_n of_o penance_n that_o be_v to_o say_v prayer_n fast_v almsdeed_n and_o must_v make_v restitution_n or_o satisfaction_n in_o will_n and_o deed_n to_o their_o neighbour_n in_o such_o thing_n as_o they_o have_v do_v they_o wrong_n and_o injury_n in_o and_o also_o must_v do_v all_o other_o good_a work_n of_o mercy_n and_o charity_n and_o express_v their_o obedient_a will_n in_o the_o execute_n and_o fulfil_n of_o god_n commandment_n outward_o when_o time_n power_n and_o occasion_n shall_v be_v minister_v unto_o they_o or_o else_o they_o shall_v never_o be_v save_v for_o this_o be_v the_o express_a precept_n and_o commandment_n of_o god_n agite_fw-la fructus_fw-la dignos_fw-la paenitentia_fw-la and_o st._n paul_n say_v debitores_fw-la sumus_fw-la and_o in_o another_o place_n he_o say_v castigo_fw-la corpus_fw-la meum_fw-la &_o in_fw-la servitutem_fw-la redigo_fw-la item_n that_o these_o precept_n and_o work_n of_o charity_n be_v necessary_a work_n to_o our_o salvation_n and_o god_n necessary_o require_v that_o every_o penitent_a man_n shall_v perform_v the_o same_o whensoever_o time_n power_n and_o occasion_n shall_v be_v minister_v unto_o he_o so_o to_o do_v item_n that_o by_o penance_n and_o such_o good_a
