grace_n with_o a_o purpose_n and_o endeavour_v by_o supply_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o walk_v before_o god_n unto_o all_o well-pleasing_a in_o all_o thing_n iv._o as_o repentance_n be_v to_o be_v continue_v through_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o our_o life_n upon_o the_o account_n of_o the_o body_n of_o death_n and_o the_o motion_n thereof_o so_o it_o be_v every_o man_n duty_n to_o repent_v of_o his_o particular_a know_a sin_n particular_o v._o such_o be_v the_o provision_n which_o god_n have_v make_v through_o christ_n in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n for_o the_o preservation_n of_o believer_n unto_o salvation_n that_o although_o there_o be_v no_o sin_n so_o small_a but_o it_o deserve_v damnation_n yet_o there_o be_v no_o sin_n so_o great_a that_o it_o shall_v bring_v damnation_n on_o they_o who_o true_o repent_v which_o make_v the_o constant_a preach_n of_o repentance_n necessary_a chap._n xvi_o of_o good_a work_n good_a work_n be_v only_o such_o as_o god_n have_v command_v in_o his_o holy_a word_n and_o not_o such_o as_o without_o the_o warrant_n thereof_o be_v devise_v by_o man_n out_o of_o blind_a zeal_n or_o upon_o any_o pretence_n of_o good_a intention_n ii_o these_o good_a work_n do_v in_o obedience_n to_o god_n commandment_n be_v the_o fruit_n and_o evidence_n of_o a_o true_a and_o lively_a faith_n and_o by_o they_o believer_n manifest_v their_o thankfulness_n strengthen_v their_o assurance_n edify_v their_o brethren_n adorn_v the_o profession_n of_o the_o gospel_n stop_v the_o mouth_n of_o the_o adversary_n and_o glorify_v god_n who_o workmanship_n they_o be_v create_v in_o christ_n jesus_n thereunto_o that_o have_v their_o fruit_n unto_o holiness_n they_o may_v have_v the_o end_n eternal_a life_n iii_o their_o ability_n to_o do_v good_a work_n be_v not_o at_o all_o of_o themselves_o but_o whole_o from_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n and_o that_o they_o may_v be_v enable_v thereunto_o beside_o the_o grace_n they_o have_v already_o receive_v there_o be_v require_v a_o actual_a influence_n of_o the_o same_o holy_a spirit_n to_o work_v in_o they_o to_o will_v and_o to_o do_v of_o his_o good_a pleasure_n yet_o be_v they_o not_o hereupon_o to_o grow_v negligent_a as_o if_o they_o be_v not_o bind_v to_o perform_v any_o duty_n unless_o upon_o a_o special_a motion_n of_o the_o spirit_n but_o they_o ought_v to_o be_v diligent_a in_o stir_v up_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n that_o be_v in_o they_o iv._o they_o who_o in_o their_o obedience_n attain_v to_o the_o great_a height_n which_o be_v possible_a in_o this_o life_n be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v able_a to_o supererogate_v and_o to_o do_v more_o than_o god_n require_v as_o that_o they_o fall_v short_a of_o much_o which_o in_o duty_n they_o be_v bind_v to_o do_v v._o we_o can_v by_o our_o best_a work_n merit_v pardon_n of_o sin_n or_o eternal_a life_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o great_a disproportion_n that_o be_v between_o they_o and_o the_o glory_n to_o come_v and_o the_o infinite_a distance_n that_o be_v between_o we_o and_o god_n who_o by_o they_o we_o can_v neither_o profit_v nor_o ●●tisfie_v for_o the_o debt_n of_o our_o former_a sin_n but_o when_o we_o have_v do_v all_o we_o can_v we_o have_v do_v but_o our_o duty_n and_o be_v unprofitable_a servant_n and_o because_o as_o they_o be_v good_a they_o proceed_v from_o his_o spirit_n and_o as_o they_o be_v wrought_v by_o we_o they_o be_v defile_v and_o mix_v with_o so_o much_o weakness_n and_o imperfection_n that_o they_o can_v endure_v the_o severity_n of_o god_n judgement_n vi_o yet_o notwithstanding_o the_o person_n of_o believer_n be_v accept_v through_o christ_n their_o good_a work_n also_o be_v accept_v in_o he_o not_o as_o though_o they_o be_v in_o this_o life_n whole_o unblameable_a and_o unreprovable_a in_o god_n sight_n but_o that_o he_o look_v upon_o they_o in_o his_o son_n be_v please_v to_o accept_v and_o reward_v that_o which_o be_v sincere_a although_o accompany_v with_o many_o weakness_n and_o imperfection_n vii_o work_n do_v by_o unregenerate_a man_n although_o for_o the_o matter_n of_o they_o they_o may_v be_v thing_n which_o god_n command_v and_o of_o good_a use_n both_o to_o themselves_o and_o to_o other_o yet_o because_o they_o proceed_v not_o from_o a_o heart_n purify_v by_o faith_n nor_o be_v do_v in_o a_o right_a manner_n according_a to_o the_o word_n not_o to_o a_o right_a end_n the_o glory_n of_o god_n they_o be_v therefore_o sinful_a and_o can_v please_v god_n nor_o make_v a_o man_n meet_v to_o receive_v grace_n from_o god_n and_o yet_o their_o neglect_n of_o they_o be_v more_o sinful_a and_o displease_v unto_o god_n chap._n xvii_o of_o the_o perseverance_n of_o the_o saint_n they_o who_o god_n have_v accept_v in_o his_o belove_a effectual_o call_v and_o sanctify_v by_o his_o spirit_n can_v neither_o total_o nor_o final_o fall_v away_o from_o the_o state_n of_o grace_n but_o shall_v certain_o persevere_v therein_o to_o the_o end_n and_o be_v eternal_o save_v ii_o this_o perseverance_n of_o the_o saint_n depend_v not_o upon_o their_o own_o freewill_n but_o upon_o the_o immutability_n of_o the_o decree_n of_o election_n from_o the_o free_a and_o unchangeable_a love_n of_o god_n the_o father_n upon_o the_o efficacy_n of_o the_o merit_n and_o intercession_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o union_n with_o he_o the_o oath_n of_o god_n the_o abide_n of_o his_o spirit_n and_o of_o the_o seed_n of_o god_n within_o they_o and_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n from_o all_o
