law_n consist_v in_o perfect_a obedience_n and_o that_o the_o term_n of_o the_o gospel_n consist_v in_o faith_n and_o sincere_a obedience_n and_o therefore_o they_o do_v not_o confound_v the_o law_n and_o gospel_n together_o etc._n etc._n answ_n 1._o the_o difference_n betwixt_o the_o law_n and_o the_o gospel_n as_o all_o our_o true_a protestant_a divine_n teach_v do_v not_o at_o all_o consist_v in_o this_o i._n e._n that_o the_o one_o require_v perfect_a obedience_n and_o the_o other_o only_o sincere_a obedience_n but_o in_o this_o that_o the_o one_o require_v do_v do_v this_o and_o live_v but_o the_o other_o no_o do_v but_o believe_v for_o life_n and_o salvation_n their_o term_n differ_v not_o only_o in_o degree_n but_o in_o their_o whole_a nature_n 2._o the_o apostle_n it_o be_v evident_a oppose_v the_o believe_v require_v in_o the_o gospel_n to_o all_o manner_n of_o do_v or_o work_v for_o life_n as_o the_o condition_n proper_a to_o the_o law_n the_o law_n be_v not_o of_o faith_n but_o the_o man_n that_o do_v they_o shall_v live_v in_o they_o faith_n in_o jesus_n christ_n the_o mediator_n be_v not_o command_v by_o the_o law_n by_o which_o the_o soul_n shall_v live_v the_o law_n say_v nothing_o of_o this_o this_o be_v not_o of_o the_o law_n and_o the_o gospel_n speak_v nothing_o of_o do_v or_o work_v for_o life_n neither_o of_o perfectâ—or_n 〈◊〉_d obedience_n but_o the_o direct_a contrary_n he_o that_o work_v not_o but_o believe_v on_o he_o that_o justify_v the_o ungodly_a his_o faith_n not_o his_o obedience_n to_o the_o gospel_n but_o his_o faith_n be_v count_v for_o righteousness_n if_o therefore_o we_o seek_v justification_n by_o any_o manner_n of_o do_v or_o work_n though_o upon_o never_o so_o easy_a and_o mild_a a_o condition_n of_o obedience_n we_o do_v thereby_o bring_v ourselves_o under_o the_o term_n of_o the_o law_n which_o be_v a_o complete_a declaration_n of_o the_o only_a term_n whereby_o god_n will_v judge_v all_o and_o condemn_v jesus_n christ_n so_o that_o all_o who_o seek_v for_o justification_n or_o eternal_a life_n know_o or_o ignorant_o by_o any_o work_v do_v by_o thenâ—less_a or_o more_o whether_o command_v by_o the_o law_n or_o gospel_n confound_v the_o term_n of_o the_o law_n and_o gospel_n together_o and_o to_o this_o let_v i_o add_v one_o thing_n more_o i._n e._n it_o can_v be_v rational_o doubt_v but_o that_o the_o jew_n and_o judaize_v christian_n in_o the_o apostle_n day_n against_o who_o he_o contend_v do_v profess_v any_o hope_n to_o be_v justify_v by_o a_o complete_a or_o perfect_a obedience_n to_o the_o law_n according_a to_o the_o rigour_n of_o it_o but_o no_o doubt_n think_v if_o they_o do_v sincere_o do_v what_o they_o can_v to_o love_n god_n and_o keep_v his_o commandment_n they_o shall_v be_v accept_v and_o justify_v in_o his_o sight_n for_o the_o jewish_a religion_n teach_v they_o that_o profess_v it_o as_o one_o observe_v to_o acknowledge_v themselves_o sinner_n which_o appear_v by_o their_o anniversary_n humiliation_n at_o the_o day_n of_o atonement_n and_o several_a other_o rite_n of_o the_o law_n nor_o have_v we_o any_o reason_n to_o conclude_v but_o some_o of_o they_o yield_v also_o sincere_a obedience_n i_o speak_v of_o moral_a sincerity_n to_o the_o law_n this_o be_v so_o i_o see_v not_o why_o their_o sincere_a obedience_n may_v not_o justify_v they_o as_o far_o forth_o as_o any_o sincere_a obedience_n to_o the_o gospel_n or_o mild_a law_n can_v a_o christian_n now_o brethren_n this_o new_a doctrine_n be_v but_o a_o piece_n of_o old_a judaismâ—_n these_o man_n do_v but_o stumble_v at_o the_o old_a stumbling-stone_n which_o be_v the_o seek_v to_o be_v justify_v by_o a_o man_n be_v own_o righteousness_n in_o a_o sincere_a or_o upright_a obedience_n to_o that_o law_n or_o rule_n of_o life_n god_n give_v they_o and_o so_o thereby_o not_o submit_v themselves_o to_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n which_o be_v by_o faith_n in_o jesus_n christ_n without_o the_o law_n or_o any_o obedience_n of_o we_o moreover_o pray_v consider_v that_o paul_n who_o tell_v the_o galatian_n they_o be_v fall_v from_o grace_n do_v not_o disow_v jesus_n christ_n justify_v in_o his_o sight_n nor_o can_v it_o be_v once_o suppose_v by_o any_o man_n unless_o blind_v that_o god_n will_v ever_o loose_v or_o relax_v the_o sanction_n of_o his_o holy_a law_n or_o abate_v a_o jot_n or_o tittle_n of_o that_o righteousness_n his_o holy_a nature_n and_o law_n require_v in_o point_n of_o out_o be_v justify_v in_o his_o sight_n it_o must_v be_v all_o fulfil_v by_o
