thereof_o at_o one_o of_o the_o chief_a custom-house_n in_o england_n or_o the_o plantation_n where_o import_v with_o the_o collector_n or_o chief_a officer_n of_o the_o cussom_n upon_o oath_n and_o sign_v the_o same_o of_o the_o quantity_n quality_n and_o value_n of_o such_o good_n and_o merchandise_n as_o worth_a to_o be_v sell_v at_o this_o place_n of_o importation_n and_o pay_v the_o duty_n for_o the_o same_o as_o aforesaid_a and_o such_o collector_n or_o chief_a officer_n where_o such_o ship_n shall_v arrive_v be_v to_o take_v the_o entry_n and_o manifest_v give_v the_o oath_n and_o receive_v the_o duty_n aforesaid_a and_o pay_v the_o same_o to_o the_o say_a company_n on_o demand_n for_o the_o use_n afore-directed_n and_o deliver_v to_o the_o say_a company_n a_o duplicate_v of_o all_o such_o entry_n and_o oath_n make_v and_o sign_v as_o aforesaid_a xxx_o the_o say_a collector_n or_o officer_n may_v deduct_v for_o his_o or_o their_o trouble_n 5_o per_fw-la cent._n for_o the_o duty_n arise_v by_o this_o act_n except_o from_o the_o export_n and_o import_v of_o the_o say_v royal_a african_a company_n and_o the_o say_a company_n shall_v give_v a_o account_n in_o write_v of_o bring_v from_o between_o cape_n blancho_a and_o cape_n mount_n as_o shall_v be_v land_a before_o entry_n make_v and_o sign_v and_o oath_n of_o the_o value_n thereof_o make_v and_o the_o duty_n pay_v shall_v be_v forfeit_v or_o the_o value_n thereof_o xxxi_o every_o ship_n which_o contrary_a to_o this_o act_n shall_v sail_v from_o england_n or_o the_o plantation_n for_o the_o coast_n of_o africa_n without_o be_v due_o enter_v oath_n make_v and_o bond_n give_v as_o before_o direct_v shall_v be_v forefeit_v or_o the_o value_n thereof_o and_o all_o good_n and_o merchandise_n ship_v from_o england_n or_o the_o plantation_n for_o the_o coast_n of_o africa_n as_o aforesaid_a contrary_a to_o this_o act_n before_o due_a entry_n make_v thereof_o and_o of_o the_o value_n and_o the_o duty_n pay_v for_o the_o same_o shall_v be_v forfeit_v or_o the_o value_n thereof_o and_o every_o ship_n and_o all_o the_o good_n and_o merchandize_n therein_o belong_v to_o his_o majesty_n subject_n sail_v from_o any_o other_o part_n than_o from_o england_n or_o the_o plantation_n to_o the_o coast_n of_o africa_n as_o aforesaid_a shall_v be_v forfeit_v xxxii_o one_o three_o part_n of_o the_o say_a forfeiture_n shall_v be_v to_o his_o majesty_n one_o other_o three_o part_n to_o the_o say_a company_n towards_o maintenance_n of_o the_o say_a fort_n and_o castle_n and_o the_o other_o three_o part_n to_o the_o informer_n and_o prosecutor_n xxxiii_o any_o person_n whatsoever_o may_v sue_v for_o the_o say_a forfeiture_n in_o any_o his_o majesty_n
court_n of_o record_n of_o this_o kingdom_n or_o in_o any_o of_o his_o majesty_n plantation_n or_o colony_n in_o america_n xxxiv_o if_o any_o ship_n trading_n to_o africa_n and_o the_o good_n therein_o be_v cast_v away_o or_o lest_o before_o she_o arrive_v at_o her_o port_n the_o proprietor_n or_o exporter_n shall_v upon_o their_o send_v any_o other_o ship_n to_o africa_n be_v allow_v so_o much_o as_o be_v pay_v to_o the_o say_a company_n for_o the_o good_n so_o lose_v xxxv_o all_o the_o natural_a bear_v subject_n of_o england_n trading_n to_o africa_n and_o pay_v the_o duty_n by_o this_o act_n impose_v shall_v have_v the_o same_o protection_n for_o their_o person_n ship_n and_o good_n from_o the_o say_a fort_n and_o castle_n and_o the_o like_a freedom_n for_o their_o trade_n as_o the_o say_a company_n and_o their_o ship_n and_o good_n have_v and_o all_o person_n trade_n to_o africa_n and_o pay_v the_o duty_n as_o aforesaid_a may_v at_o their_o own_o charge_n settle_v factory_n on_o any_o part_n of_o africa_n within_o the_o limit_n aforesaid_a without_o let_v of_o the_o say_a company_n and_o all_o person_n not_o member_n of_o the_o say_a company_n so_o trading_n and_o pay_v the_o say_a duty_n shall_v with_o their_o ship_n and_o good_n be_v free_a from_o all_o molestation_n penalty_n or_o imposition_n from_o the_o say_a company_n by_o reason_n of_o their_o so_o trading_n xxxvi_o if_o any_o good_n export_v for_o africa_n have_v pay_v the_o duty_n on_o this_o act_n shall_v be_v bring_v back_o to_o england_n or_o the_o plantation_n they_o may_v be_v export_v again_o to_o africa_n without_o pay_v any_o duty_n oath_n be_v first_o make_v by_o two_o person_n not_o interest_v in_o such_o good_n that_o the_o duty_n be_v pay_v upon_o their_o first_o exportation_n a_o copy_n of_o the_o entry_n of_o such_o good_n upon_o their_o former_a exportation_n be_v first_o preduce_v and_o attest_v upon_o oath_n of_o two_o person_n xxxvii_o all_o the_o duty_n arise_v by_o this_o act_n be_v hereby_o appropriate_v whole_o to_o the_o maintenance_n of_o the_o fort_n and_o castle_n on_o the_o coast_n of_o africa_n in_o the_o possession_n of_o the_o say_v royal_a african_a company_n and_o for_o keep_v they_o well_o repair_v and_o provide_v they_o with_o ammunition_n and_o warlike_a store_n and_o soldier_n to_o defend_v they_o and_o pay_v the_o officer_n and_o soldier_n and_o no_o other_o use_n whatsoever_o and_o a_o true_a account_n of_o the_o say_a duty_n and_o lay_v out_o the_o same_o shall_v be_v keep_v in_o a_o book_n for_o that_o purpose_n which_o shall_v lie_v open_a at_o the_o african-house_n in_o london_n to_o be_v peruse_v by_o all_o person_n trade_n to_o africa_n and_o that_o a_o account_v be_v make_v up_o yearly_o at_o michaelmas_n or_o within_o 20_o day_n after_o and_o record_v in_o the_o exchequer_n xxxviii_o no_o duty_n impose_v by_o this_o act_n shall_v be_v require_v in_o england_n or_o the_o coleny_v hinder_v any_o person_n from_o trading_n to_o that_o part_n of_o africa_n call_v barbary_n extend_v southerly_a as_o for_o as_o cape_n blancho_a xl._n any_o of_o his_o majesty_n subject_n notwithstanding_o the_o act_n of_o 5_o &_o 6._o w._n &_o m._n that_o no_o other_o copper_n than_o what_o be_v make_v of_o english_a ore_n shall_v be_v export_v may_v export_v from_o england_n all_o every_o spinner_n of_o gold_n and_o silver_n thread_n that_o shall_v lay_v gold_n or_o silver_n plate_n upon_o silk_n in_o other_o proportion_n shall_v forfeit_v for_o every_o ounce_n so_o spin_v and_o all_o person_n trade_n by_o licence_n shall_v enter_v their_o licence_n in_o the_o book_n of_o the_o general_n society_n and_o take_v a_o oath_n to_o the_o like_a effect_n and_o no_o member_n the_o pound_n for_o prompt_a payment_n of_o the_o last_o moiety_n ccclxxxviii_o such_o hawker_n etc._n etc._n as_o after_o the_o say_v 24_o jun._n 1698._o shall_v be_v sound_a trade_n as_o aforesaid_a without_o or_o contrary_n to_o such_o licence_n shall_v for_o every_o such_o offence_n forfeit_v 12_o l._n one_o moiety_n to_o the_o informer_n and_o the_o other_o to_o the_o poor_a of_o the_o discount_n after_o 10_o l._n per_fw-la centum_fw-la per_fw-la aunum_n for_o prompt_a payment_n lxxiv_o the_o say_v duty_n on_o salt_n to_o be_v manage_v by_o the_o commissioner_n of_o excile_a who_o be_v to_o appoint_v the_o necessary_a officer_n and_o the_o penalty_n and_o forfeiture_n hereby_o impose_v to_o be_v sue_v for_o and_o recover_v by_o the_o same_o way_n as_o direct_v by_o the_o act_n 12_o car._n 2._o for_o take_v away_o the_o court_n of_o ward_n and_o livery_n and_o tenor_n in_o capite_fw-la and_o by_o knight_n service_n and_o purveyance_n and_o settle_v a_o revenue_n on_o his_o majesty_n in_o lieu_n thereof_o or_o by_o any_o law_n now_o in_o force_n relate_v to_o the_o excise_n lxxv_o all_o maker_n and_o proprietor_n of_o salt_n and_o rock-salt_n within_o the_o kingdom_n shall_v make_v true_a entry_n with_o the_o officer_n so_o appoint_v and_o shall_v have_v their_o warrant_n gratis_o for_o carry_v the_o same_o away_o upon_o payment_n or_o security_n to_o pay_v the_o duty_n within_o six_o month_n after_o such_o entry_n with_o a_o discount_n after_o 10_o l._n per_fw-la cent._n per_fw-la annum_fw-la for_o ready_a money_n lxxvi_o the_o officer_n so_o appoint_v may_v seize_v all_o such_o salt_n as_o after_o 1_o july_n 1698_o shall_v be_v convey_v away_o before_o due_a entry_n make_v or_o warrant_v obtain_v for_o convey_v thereof_o and_o if_o not_o claim_v within_o 24_o december_n 1699._o 11_o s._n 8_o d._n for_o every_o hundred_o of_o codfish_n ling_n or_o hake_n after_o 1_o july_n 1692_o and_o before_o 25_o december_n 1699._o 25_o s._n and_o after_o 24_o december_n 1699._o 35_o s._n for_o every_o last_o of_o dry_a red_a sprat_n after_o 1_o july_n 1698._o 6_o s._n 8_o d._n lxxxi_o which_o allowance_n shall_v be_v pay_v by_o the_o salt_n collector_n in_o the_o port_n from_o whence_o such_o fish_n be_v export_v within_o thirty_o day_n after_o demand_n upon_o a_o debenture_n due_o verify_v and_o oath_n make_v that_o the_o fish_n be_v english_a take_v and_o real_o export_v beyond_o sea_n and_o if_o the_o collector_n have_v not_o sufficient_a money_n to_o pay_v the_o same_o upon_o his_o certificate_n the_o commissioner_n of_o excise_n shall_v give_v the_o act_n in_o evidence_n and_o if_o the_o plaintiff_n he_o cast_v nonsuit_n or_o forbear_v prosecute_a the_o desendant_n shall_v have_v double_a cost_v lxxxv_o no_o writ_n of_o certiorari_fw-la shall_v supersede_n the_o order_n of_o the_o commissioner_n of_o excise_n or_o justice_n of_o peace_n touch_v the_o duty_n on_o salt_n lxxxvi_o no_o salt_n shall_v be_v deliver_v from_o any_o salt-work_n without_o notice_n give_v to_o the_o officer_n on_o pain_n of_o forfeiture_n and_o also_o 10_o s._n per_fw-la bushel_n one_o half_a to_o the_o prosecutor_n the_o other_o to_o the_o king_n lxxxvii_o if_o any_o exported_a salt_n after_o the_o duty_n have_v be_v repay_v be_v land_a in_o this_o kingdom_n before_o the_o duty_n be_v again_o pay_v the_o offender_n shall_v forfeit_v double_a the_o value_n thereof_o and_o 10_o s._n per_fw-la bushel_n lxxxviii_o subject_n of_o this_o realm_n ship_v salt_n for_o any_o part_n of_o england_n in_o a_o ship_n perish_v at_o sea_n or_o take_v by_o enemy_n upon_o proof_n thereof_o before_o the_o justice_n in_o session_n of_o the_o loss_n of_o such_o salt_n shall_v be_v allow_v to_o buy_v the_o like_a quantity_n without_o duty_n lxxxix_o salt-rock_n or_o rock-salt_n after_o entry_n and_o a_o warrant_n may_v be_v remove_v to_o convenient_a warehouse_n and_o the_o duty_n need_v not_o be_v pay_v or_o secure_v till_o the_o duty_n xci_o salt-rock_n or_o rock-salt_n shall_v be_v enter_v by_o weight_n only_o at_o 120_o pound_n weight_n to_o the_o bushel_n xcii_o refiner_n of_o rock-salt_n which_o have_v pay_v the_o duty_n shall_v have_v a_o abatement_n over_z and_z above_o any_o former_a allowance_n of_o 2_o s._n 4_o d._n per_fw-la bushel_n xciii_o the_o charge_n of_o manage_v this_o duty_n on_o salt_n may_v be_v pay_v out_o of_o the_o say_a duty_n xciv_o salt_n make_v from_o rock-salt_n allow_v the_o drawback_n and_o all_o refine_a salt_n import_v or_o make_v in_o england_n be_v to_o be_v charge_v with_o the_o say_a duty_n xcv_o all_o salt_n except_o rock_n salt_n shall_v be_v ascertain_v as_o to_o the_o duty_n at_o 56_o pound_n weight_n to_o the_o bushel_n xcvi_o all_o salt_n bring_v from_o scotland_n and_o all_o import_v and_o home-made_a salt_n bring_v in_o or_o land_v before_o due_a entry_n shall_v be_v forfeit_v and_o 10_o s._n per_fw-la bushel_n xcvii_o the_o collector_n of_o the_o say_a salt_n duty_n shall_v provide_v scale_n at_o every_o salt-work_n and_o person_n live_v near_o such_o salt-work_n or_o salt-pit_n shall_v be_v swear_v weigher_n and_o pay_v for_o the_o same_o by_o the_o collector_n xcviii_o the_o officer_n shall_v deliver_v as_o many_o warrant_n or_o permit_v to_o salt_n carrier_n as_o they_o desire_v gratis_o for_o what_o they_o shall_v load_v at_o one_o time_n xcix_o all_o person_n shall_v sell_v salt_n except_o foreign_a salt_n after_o 56_o pound_n weight_n to_o the_o bushel_n under_o penalty_n of_o 5_o l._n to_o the_o informer_n c._n the_o lord_n mayor_n and_o court_n of_o alderman_n in_o london_n shall_v by_o to_o july_n 1698._o ascertain_v the_o price_n of_o salt_n within_o the_o city_n of_o london_n and_o bill_n of_o mortality_n and_o the_o justice_n of_o peace_n in_o their_o general_n session_n for_o other_o place_n by_o 1_o aug._n 1698._o and_o so_o from_o time_n to_o time_n if_o necessary_a and_o person_n sell_v for_o high_a price_n or_o refuse_v to_o sell_v at_o the_o price_n settle_v shall_v forfeit_v 5_o l._n to_o be_v levy_v by_o distress_n and_o sale_n of_o good_n by_o warrant_n from_o the_o lord_n mayor_n aforesaid_a or_o a_o justice_n of_o peace_n of_o the_o place_n who_o in_o default_n of_o a_o distress_n may_v imprison_v the_o offender_n till_o payment_n thereof_o one_o moiety_n to_o the_o king_n the_o other_o to_o
