duty_n and_o fee_n belong_v to_o the_o say_a ballast_n office_n be_v pay_v to_o the_o say_a master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o their_o deputy_n and_o assign_v and_o that_o certificate_n thereof_o be_v produce_v under_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o say_a master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n or_o their_o deputy_n or_o deputy_n for_o that_o purpose_n appoint_v and_o we_o do_v further_o by_o these_o present_n command_v all_o searcher_n at_o gravesend_n pay_v nor_o searcher_n at_o gravesend_n to_o clear_v any_o ship_n without_o certificate_n from_o the_o trinity-house_n of_o the_o say_a endanger_v the_o fire_v his_o majesty_n own_o ship_n as_o also_o the_o ship_n of_o divers_a merchant_n ride_v in_o the_o river_n by_o come_v in_o the_o nighttime_n to_o assist_v such_o as_o be_v leave_v on_o board_n the_o ship_n in_o the_o imbezlement_n of_o the_o good_n store_n or_o tackle_n entrust_v to_o their_o charge_n his_o majesty_n therefore_o by_o advice_n of_o his_o privy_a council_n have_v think_v fit_a to_o publish_v this_o his_o royal_a proclamation_n and_o do_v hereby_o strait_o charge_v and_o command_v all_o and_o every_o person_n and_o person_n who_o it_o do_v or_o may_v concern_v that_o they_o presume_v not_o henceforth_o to_o use_v any_o such_o dirtboat_n or_o bumboat_n upon_o any_o pretence_n or_o occasion_n whatsoever_o as_o they_o will_v answer_v the_o to_o evade_v the_o punishment_n due_a for_o the_o same_o bear_v jack_n in_o shape_n and_o mixture_n of_o colour_n so_o little_a different_a from_o those_o of_o his_o majesty_n as_o not_o to_o be_v without_o difficulty_n distinguish_v there_o from_o which_o practice_n be_v find_v attend_v with_o manifold_a inconvenience_n for_o prevention_n whereof_o for_o the_o future_a his_o majesty_n have_v the_o sum_n of_o five_o pound_n manner_n the_o penalty_n of_o heat_a pitch_n tar_n etc._n etc._n but_o in_o such_o a_o manner_n that_o the_o master_n of_o every_o ship_n or_o vessel_n be_v within_o the_o river_n of_o thames_n do_v take_v care_v not_o to_o suffer_v any_o manner_n of_o pitch_n tar_n rozine_n grease_n tallow_n oil_n or_o the_o like_a to_o be_v heat_v on_o board_n by_o fire_n loggerhead_n shot_n or_o any_o other_o thing_n but_o that_o it_o be_v do_v as_o often_o as_o there_o may_v be_v occasion_n either_o upon_o the_o shore_n or_o in_o a_o boat_n be_v afloat_o upon_o the_o penalty_n of_o three_o pound_n to_o be_v pay_v as_o aforesaid_a that_o all_o master_n of_o ship_n do_v take_v care_n in_o the_o dry_n their_o bread-room_n same_o how_o bread_n room_n to_o be_v dry_v and_o the_o penalty_n of_o not_o observe_v the_o same_o to_o appoint_v able_a and_o careful_a man_n for_o do_v the_o same_o and_o not_o to_o dry_v they_o in_o the_o night_n or_o keep_v any_o fire_n blackwall_n do_v presume_v to_o fire_v any_o gun_n before_o sun_n rise_v or_o after_o sun_n set_v upon_o the_o penalty_n of_o ten_o shilling_n for_o each_o gun_n so_o fire_v to_o be_v pay_v as_o aforesaid_a vi_o aboard_o the_o penalty_n of_o master_n for_o suffer_a bumboat_n to_o come_v aboard_o item_n whereas_o by_o reason_n of_o dirtboat_n otherwise_o call_v bumboat_n their_o carry_a fruit_n wine_n strongwaters_n etc._n etc._n to_o sell_v to_o shipkeeper_n and_o other_o aboard_o ship_n there_o be_v much_o wrong_n do_v to_o the_o owner_n by_o the_o purloin_v of_o cordage_n and_o other_o material_n it_o be_v order_v that_o all_o master_n of_o ship_n for_o the_o prevent_n of_o the_o evil_n aforesaid_a do_v from_o henceforth_o take_v care_n that_o themselves_o their_o officer_n and_o servant_n do_v not_o permit_v any_o such_o boat_n to_o come_v on_o board_v their_o ship_n or_o that_o they_o buy_v or_o sell_v any_o thing_n with_o they_o that_o they_o also_o do_v take_v care_n that_o their_o man_n do_v put_v the_o dirt_n of_o their_o ship_n place_n of_o not_o carry_v and_o lay_v ashore_o their_o dirt_n in_o proper_a time_n and_o place_n as_o there_o may_v be_v occasion_n into_o their_o own_o boat_n at_o seasonable_a hour_n in_o the_o day_n and_o do_v carry_v and_o lay_v it_o on_o shore_n above_o high-water-mark_a river_n of_o throw_v their_o dirt_n into_o the_o river_n and_o that_o they_o do_v not_o suffer_v any_o dirt_n or_o filth_n to_o be_v throw_v over_o board_n into_o the_o river_n and_o in_o case_n of_o any_o of_o the_o aforesaid_a neglect_n the_o master_n shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v for_o each_o of_o the_o same_o to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o poor_a of_o this_o corporation_n the_o sum_n of_o twenty_o shilling_n vii_o item_n it_o be_v order_v that_o no_o master_n do_v suffer_v to_o be_v take_v in_o sail._n the_o penalty_n of_o take_v in_o or_o heave_v out_o ballast_n without_o a_o port_n sail._n or_o heave_v out_o of_o his_o ship_n any_o ballast_n without_o have_v a_o sail_n nail_v to_o the_o sell_v of_o the_o port_n or_o if_o a_o small_a vessel_n to_o the_o gunnel_n to_o over_o hang_v the_o side_n of_o the_o light_a upon_o the_o penalty_n of_o twenty_o shilling_n to_o be_v pay_v to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o poor_a of_o this_o corporation_n for_o his_o every_o time_n so_o offend_v viii_o etc._n the_o penalty_n of_o hinder_v the_o officer_n of_o the_o trinity-house_n from_o come_v on_o board_n to_o search_v for_o powder_n etc._n etc._n item_n it_o be_v order_v that_o whatsoever_o master_n either_o by_o himself_o his_o officer_n or_o seaman_n shall_v at_o any_o time_n refuse_v or_o hinder_v any_o person_n appoint_v by_o this_o corporation_n and_o upon_o demand_n show_v his_o authority_n under_o the_o common_a seal_n thereof_o from_o come_v on_o board_n his_o ship_n in_o the_o day_n time_n to_o search_v for_o any_o powder_n gun_n unshot_v heat_a of_o pitch_n tar_n rozine_n grease_n tallow_n oil_n and_o the_o like_a the_o carcless_a or_o unseasonable_a dry_n of_o bread-room_n the_o suffer_a bumboat_n to_o come_v aboard_o and_o to_o traffic_n with_o they_o or_o to_o inquire_v into_o any_o other_o offence_n there_o commit_v against_o the_o order_n of_o this_o house_n he_o shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v to_o the_o poor_a thereof_o for_o his_o every_o time_n so_o offend_v the_o sum_n of_o five_o pound_n ix_o trinity-house_n the_o penalty_n of_o any_o brother_n petition_v about_o any_o general_a sea-cause_n without_o the_o consent_n of_o trinity-house_n forasmuch_o as_o certain_a member_n of_o this_o corporation_n have_v heretofore_o partly_o of_o themselves_o and_o partly_o at_o the_o request_n of_o other_o very_o disorderly_a and_o very_o indiscreet_o prefer_v bill_n petition_n and_o other_o writing_n to_o the_o high_a court_n of_o parliament_n and_o to_o other_o inferior_a jurisdiction_n in_o the_o name_n of_o seaman_n in_o general_n without_o make_v the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n acquaint_v therewith_o to_o the_o great_a detriment_n and_o scandal_n of_o the_o corporation_n for_o prevent_v thereof_o for_o the_o time_n to_o come_v it_o be_v order_v that_o if_o any_o be_v member_n of_o this_o corporation_n shall_v at_o any_o time_n hereafter_o do_v or_o attempt_v the_o like_a matter_n as_o aforesaid_a or_o shall_v set_v their_o hand_n to_o any_o bill_n petition_n or_o other_o writing_n concern_v any_o general_a sea-cause_n without_o the_o consent_n of_o the_o master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n thereto_o first_o have_v and_o obtain_v every_o such_o person_n shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v for_o every_o such_o offence_n to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o poor_a of_o this_o corporation_n the_o sum_n of_o five_o pound_n x._o item_n shipboard_n order_n for_o the_o good_a government_n of_o seaman_n on_o shipboard_n for_o the_o better_a regulate_v and_o government_n of_o seaman_n and_o mariner_n it_o be_v order_v that_o if_o any_o mariner_n whilst_o on_o shipboard_n shall_v swear_v blaspheme_v the_o penalty_n of_o swear_v or_o blaspheme_v curse_v or_o blaspheme_n the_o name_n of_o god_n he_o shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v for_o every_o such_o offence_n one_o shilling_n the_o same_o to_o be_v put_v into_o the_o poor_n box_n remain_v on_o board_n the_o say_a ship_n for_o the_o use_n of_o the_o poor_a of_o this_o corporation_n if_o any_o seaman_n whether_o officer_n or_o other_o after_o he_o shall_v be_v hire_v to_o serve_v in_o any_o ship_n leave_n lie_v on_o shore_n without_o leave_n shall_v at_o any_o time_n lie_v on_o shore_n during_o the_o term_n of_o the_o voyage_n without_o leave_n first_o have_v from_o the_o master_n or_o chief_a officer_n on_o board_n he_o shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v for_o every_o such_o offence_n to_o the_o say_v poors_z box_n half_o a_o crown_n if_o any_o mariner_n whether_o officer_n or_o other_o prayer_n absence_n from_o prayer_n be_v in_o perfect_a health_n shall_v absent_v himself_o from_o prayer_n be_v perform_v according_a to_o the_o liturgy_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n or_o shall_v not_o immediate_o after_o the_o ring_n of_o the_o bell_n or_o other_o public_a notice_n repair_v thereunto_o he_o shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v for_o his_o every_o time_n so_o neglect_v to_o the_o say_v poors_z box_n six_o penny_n if_o any_o mariner_n shall_v be_v drink_v he_o shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v drunkenness_n drunkenness_n for_o every_o such_o offence_n to_o the_o say_v poors_z box_n one_o shilling_n if_o any_o mariner_n shall_v be_v obstinate_a and_o stubborn_a disobedience_n disobedience_n in_o not_o obey_v the_o master_n lawful_a command_n or_o the_o mate_n or_o boatswain_n in_o his_o absence_n he_o shall_v forfeit_v and_o pay_v for_o every_o such_o offence_n to_o the_o say_v poors_z box_n half_a his_o month_n pay_n but_o upon_o any_o person_n be_v find_v to_o offend_v against_o any_o of_o the_o above_o mention_v order_n in_o this_o law_n mention_v aforesaid_a at_o the_o liberty_n of_o the_o master_n either_o to_o inflict_v corporal_a punishment_n or_o take_v the_o penalty_n aforesaid_a it_o shall_v be_v leave_v to_o the_o liberty_n of_o the_o master_n or_o commander_n of_o the_o the_o ship_n with_o the_o advice_n and_o consent_n of_o the_o mate_n boatswain_n purser_n gunner_n and_o carpenter_n or_o major_a part_n of_o they_o either_o to_o inflict_v corporal_a punishment_n according_a to_o the_o custom_n of_o the_o sea_n or_o receive_v and_o take_v the_o penalty_n hereby_o impose_v for_o the_o breach_n of_o the_o aforesaid_a law_n and_o if_o it_o shall_v happen_v that_o the_o say_a person_n or_o person_n have_v not_o present_a money_n to_o satisfy_v what_o be_v order_v to_o be_v pay_v for_o any_o such_o offence_n than_o it_o be_v require_v that_o he_o or_o they_o subscribe_v their_o name_n to_o the_o master_n or_o pursers_n book_n thereby_o signify_v their_o consent_n that_o the_o say_v forfeiture_n may_v be_v defalk_v out_o of_o their_o wage_n the_o next_o pay_v day_n follow_v xi_o item_n it_o be_v order_v another_o the_o penalty_n of_o a_o seaman_n desert_v one_o master_n and_o ship_v himself_o with_o another_o that_o if_o any_o mariner_n or_o seaman_n have_v ship_v himself_o with_o any_o master_n for_o a_o voyage_n shall_v afterward_o desert_n and_o leave_v he_o and_o ship_n himself_o with_o another_o that_o master_n with_o who_o he_o go_v the_o voyage_n shall_v upon_o notice_n give_v on_o behalf_n of_o this_o corporation_n detain_v two_o shilling_n in_o every_o pound_n of_o the_o wage_n of_o the_o say_a mariner_n or_o seaman_n for_o the_o time_n he_o serve_v in_o his_o ship_n to_o be_v pay_v to_o this_o corporation_n for_o the_o use_n of_o the_o poor_a thereof_o xii_o item_n it_o be_v order_v that_o every_o commander_n of_o ship_n entertain_v the_o master_n to_o make_v a_o agreement_n in_o write_v with_o every_o seaman_n he_o shall_v entertain_v hire_v any_o mariner_n or_o seaman_n to_o sail_v with_o
