among_o the_o refuge_n will_v be_v god_n willing_a he_o shall_v make_v bold_a still_o to_o propose_v to_o your_o honour_n these_o follow_a motive_n and_o humble_o show_v 1._o that_o the_o discovery_n of_o the_o aforesaid_a fund_z concern_v very_o much_o the_o king_n upon_o three_o several_a account_n 1._o upon_o his_o sacred_a person_n 2._o upon_o his_o revenue_n 3._o upon_o his_o army_n 1._o upon_o the_o king_n sacred_a person_n who_o by_o the_o say_a discovery_n of_o the_o say_v fund_z happy_o and_o for_o ever_o will_v be_v deliver_v from_o a_o great_a many_o troublesome_a petition_n continual_o a_o beg_n but_o to_o who_o after_o they_o receive_v the_o say_a relief_n from_o his_o majesty_n and_o from_o this_o generous_a nation_n public_o and_o private_o the_o say_v french_a the_o french_a refuge_n of_o whatever_o degree_n will_v also_o be_v easy_o induce_v to_o choose_v to_o go_v if_o some_o part_n of_o the_o product_n of_o the_o say_v fund_z when_o it_o shall_v be_v discover_v be_v bestow_v to_o maintain_v well_o all_o their_o life_n time_n the_o officer_n and_o soldier_n who_o have_v be_v or_o hereafter_o shall_v be_v maim_v in_o the_o king_n service_n in_o the_o say_a army_n 2._o that_o the_o say_a discovery_n of_o the_o aforesaid_a fund_z very_o much_o concern_v this_o state_n of_o england_n in_o general_a and_o particular_a 1._o in_o general_n because_o the_o say_a state_n in_o general_a by_o the_o say_a discovery_n of_o the_o say_v fund_z every_o year_n not_o only_o may_v save_v a_o considerable_a sum_n of_o money_n charitable_o and_o pious_o grant_v to_o the_o say_v poor_a among_o the_o refuge_n by_o your_o honour_n but_o also_o may_v employ_v the_o say_a sum_n in_o pay_v some_o of_o the_o tax_n lay_v upon_o the_o people_n and_o grant_v to_o the_o king_n for_o the_o maintenance_n of_o his_o army_n by_o sea_n and_o land_n and_o by_o this_o or_o other_o mean_n ease_v all_o the_o people_n 2._o in_o particular_a because_o many_o person_n member_n of_o the_o say_a state_n of_o england_n have_v be_v very_o often_o solicit_v either_o by_o the_o troublesome_a demand_n of_o the_o say_v french_a commissioner_n or_o by_o the_o earnest_a request_n of_o the_o say_v poor_a themselves_o to_o spare_v something_o for_o they_o and_o the_o say_a person_n thereby_o move_v to_o spare_v something_o for_o
the_o most_o humble_a remonstrance_n present_v to_o the_o honourable_a the_o knight_n citizens_z and_o burgess_n of_o the_o house_n of_o commons_z in_o parliament_n assemble_v 1._o concern_v the_o proof_n whereby_o the_o french_a gentleman_n commissioner_n appoint_v for_o the_o distribution_n of_o the_o charity_n bestow_v upon_o the_o poor_a french_a protestant_n that_o be_v come_v for_o refuge_n into_o england_n may_v be_v convince_v that_o in_o their_o hand_n there_o be_v still_o remain_v great_a sum_n of_o money_n arise_v from_o the_o say_a charity_n and_o a_o revenue_n more_o than_o sufficient_a for_o all_o the_o poor_a refuges_n maintenance_n 2._o concern_v the_o mean_n whereby_o all_o the_o aforesaid_a great_a sum_n of_o money_n may_v be_v discover_v and_o the_o aforesaid_a french_a gentleman_n commissioner_n compel_v to_o give_v a_o exact_a account_n of_o they_o which_o compel_v if_o it_o please_v god_n shall_v be_v as_o a_o triumph_a sword_n cut_v with_o one_o blow_n the_o gordian_a knot_n of_o the_o say_v french_a commissioner_n 3._o concern_v the_o motive_n that_o may_v induce_v the_o aforesaid_a honourable_a house_n of_o commons_o to_o use_v the_o aforesaid_a mean_n which_o motive_n be_v the_o concern_v of_o the_o king_n and_o state_n in_o general_n and_o in_o particular_a of_o all_o the_o poor_a among_o the_o say_a refuge_n by_o john_n chabbert_n minister_n and_o refuge_n you_o the_o honourable_a house_n of_o commons_o be_v entreat_v by_o the_o aforesaid_a john_n chabbert_n to_o approve_v that_o he_o may_v now_o declare_v to_o your_o honour_n the_o love_n he_o have_v and_o ever_o have_v for_o justice_n and_o truth_n and_o on_o the_o contrary_a how_o he_o abhor_v injustice_n cheat_v trick_n and_o lie_v but_o in_o a_o particular_a manner_n how_o much_o he_o belong_v for_o the_o advantage_n and_o prosperity_n of_o the_o king_n state_n and_o church_n of_o england_n not_o only_o for_o the_o publick_n but_o also_o for_o the_o private_n sake_n as_o he_o belong_v also_o for_o the_o satisfaction_n of_o the_o english_a poor_a as_o well_o as_o of_o they_o which_o be_v among_o the_o refuge_n and_o that_o in_o make_v bold_a humble_o to_o show_v by_o particular_n all_o the_o content_n of_o the_o three_o head_n contain_v in_o the_o title_n of_o his_o undertake_n to_o keep_v the_o order_n set_v in_o the_o say_a title_n the_o aforesaid_a john_n chabbert_n beginning_n with_o the_o aforesaid_a proof_n humble_o show_v 1._o that_o the_o aforesaid_a french_a commissioner_n have_v receive_v great_a sum_n of_o money_n upon_o three_o several_a letter_n patrent_n heretofore_o grant_v by_o royal_a authority_n for_o the_o aforesaid_a poor_a refuge_n sake_n especial_o upon_o the_o first_o and_o second_o letter_n patent_n the_o first_o grant_v in_o the_o year_n 1686._o and_o the_o second_o grant_v in_o the_o year_n 1688._o that_o after_o that_o the_o say_v two_o letter_n patent_n be_v effectual_o publish_v and_o the_o tenor_n of_o the_o same_o declare_v unto_o the_o nation_n in_o all_o and_o every_o church_n and_o chapel_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o england_n dominion_n of_o wales_n etc._n etc._n the_o whole_a nation_n be_v touch_v with_o so_o deep_a a_o sense_n and_o tender_a commiseration_n of_o the_o calamity_n and_o woeful_a suffering_n of_o the_o say_v poor_a refuge_n in_o the_o cause_n of_o their_o religion_n and_o of_o the_o urgent_a necessity_n which_o so_o many_o of_o they_o be_v lie_v under_o that_o not_o only_o all_o the_o nobility_n gentry_n and_o every_o rich_a man_n of_o whatever_o degree_n and_o character_n soever_o he_o be_v but_o even_o the_o great_a part_n of_o all_o the_o tradesman_n and_o servant_n as_o every_o body_n know_v do_v so_o generous_o and_o cheerful_o contribute_v by_o their_o extraordinary_a and_o large_a charity_n to_o the_o subsistence_n of_o the_o say_a 〈◊〉_d among_o the_o refuge_n and_o that_o from_o those_o generous_a free_a and_o large_a charitable_a contribution_n which_o have_v be_v make_v for_o the_o relief_n of_o the_o say_v poor_a refuge_n it_o must_v needs_o be_v infer_v that_o great_a sum_n of_o money_n be_v then_o collect_v 2._o that_o the_o aforesaid_a french_a commissioner_n and_o the_o minister_n and_o churchwarden_n or_o elder_n as_o they_o call_v they_o of_o the_o french_a church_n in_o the_o savoy_n or_o of_o the_o waloon_n church_n in_o the_o city_n of_o london_n have_v receive_v great_a sum_n of_o money_n from_o the_o large_a charity_n of_o particular_a collection_n often_o bestow_v by_o a_o great_a many_o charitable_a person_n upon_o the_o aforesaid_a poor_a refuge_n behalf_n from_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o year_n 1685._o to_o this_o very_a day_n of_o the_o year_n 1696._o since_o that_o time_n a_o great_a number_n of_o poor_a refuge_n have_v be_v see_v in_o england_n 3._o that_o the_o aforesaid_a french_a commissioner_n minister_n and_o churchwarden_n of_o the_o aforesaid_a two_o church_n very_o often_o and_o at_o least_o during_o the_o space_n of_o ten_o year_n have_v receive_v great_a sum_n of_o money_n arise_v from_o a_o great_a many_o legacy_n the_o most_o part_n of_o they_o make_v by_o some_o english_a pious_a person_n and_o some_o of_o they_o by_o some_o french_a to_o be_v distribute_v in_o a_o very_a short_a time_n after_o their_o decease_n to_o the_o say_v poor_a refuges_n refuge_n 4._o that_o the_o aforesaid_a french_a commissioner_n by_o their_o own_o confession_n and_o as_o every_o body_n know_v have_v receive_v during_o the_o space_n of_o many_o year_n 〈◊〉_d twelve_o thousand_o pound_n per_fw-la annum_fw-la bestow_v liberal_o cheerful_o and_o charitable_o by_o his_o excellent_a majesty_n our_o gracious_a king_n william_n upon_o the_o say_v poor_a refuges_n to_o relieve_v they_o in_o their_o urgent_a necessity_n and_o comfort_v they_o in_o their_o trouble_n that_o it_o be_v most_o certain_a that_o upon_o the_o say_v royal_a bounty_n the_o say_v they_o in_o trading_n and_o traffic_n 5._o that_o the_o aforesaid_a french_a commissioner_n be_v public_o accuse_v by_o some_o of_o the_o say_v french_a refuge_n poor_a gentleman_n minister_n and_o other_o for_o have_v embezzelled_a or_o misemployed_n a_o considerable_a sum_n of_o the_o aforesaid_a twelve_o thousand_o pound_n per_fw-la annum_fw-la and_o that_o the_o say_v french_a commissioner_n have_v do_v their_o utmost_a endeavour_n to_o secure_v themselves_o from_o the_o say_a accusation_n or_o rather_o that_o their_o accuser_n shall_v be_v silent_a and_o desist_v from_o their_o accusation_n and_o for_o all_o that_o the_o say_v french_a commissioner_n have_v let_v neither_o the_o public_a nor_o their_o accuser_n know_v their_o innocence_n in_o all_o its_o circumstance_n and_o
