wait_v within_o this_o city_n be_v now_o of_o late_a time_n so_o great_o increase_v and_o become_v so_o many_o that_o the_o street_n and_o common_a passage_n thereof_o be_v by_o the_o drive_v and_o stand_v of_o such_o hackney-coache_n so_o fill_v and_o pester_v that_o the_o citizen_n and_o inhabitant_n of_o this_o city_n and_o the_o people_n repair_v thereunto_o be_v great_o hinder_v in_o their_o affair_n and_o the_o passage_n of_o cart_n and_o other_o carriage_n necessary_a for_o the_o convey_n of_o good_n great_o obstruct_v and_o the_o trade_n of_o this_o city_n thereby_o much_o prejudice_v and_o the_o charge_n of_o the_o repair_v of_o the_o street_n of_o this_o city_n much_o increase_v and_o great_a damage_n mischief_n and_o inconvenience_n be_v daily_o occasion_v thereby_o and_o likely_a to_o be_v increase_v to_o the_o citizen_n and_o inhabitant_n of_o this_o city_n and_o other_o person_n resort_v thereunto_o for_o prevention_n therefore_o of_o all_o inconvenience_n and_o mischief_n which_o for_o the_o future_a may_v arise_v and_o grow_v to_o this_o city_n by_o such_o great_a number_n of_o hackney-coache_n and_o to_o the_o end_n that_o hackney-coache_n to_o be_v use_v and_o employ_v within_o this_o city_n and_o the_o liberty_n thereof_o may_v be_v reduce_v to_o a_o convenient_a number_n and_o that_o the_o person_n keep_v and_o drive_v such_o hackney-coache_n for_o hire_n within_o this_o city_n and_o the_o liberty_n thereof_o may_v be_v under_o some_o good_a regulation_n and_o government_n agreeable_a to_o what_o have_v be_v already_o provide_v concern_v car_n cart_n and_o car-man_n be_v it_o enact_v and_o ordain_v by_o the_o right_n honourable_a the_o lord_n mayor_n the_o right_a worshipful_a the_o alderman_n his_o brethren_n and_o the_o commons_o in_o common_a council_n assemble_v by_o force_n of_o the_o custom_n franchise_n and_o liberty_n aforesaid_a and_o charter_n beforementioned_a confirm_v by_o parliament_n as_o aforesaid_a and_o by_o authority_n thereof_o that_o from_o and_o after_o the_o first_o day_n of_o may_v next_o come_n the_o number_n of_o hackney-coache_n to_o be_v use_v and_o employ_v within_o this_o city_n and_o the_o liberty_n thereof_o shall_v not_o exceed_v four_o hundred_o and_o to_o the_o end_n the_o number_n of_o they_o may_v be_v ascertain_v and_o not_o exceed_v four_o hundred_o as_o aforesaid_a be_v it_o further_o enact_v and_o ordain_v that_o no_o person_n or_o person_n after_o the_o say_v first_o day_n of_o may_v next_o come_n other_o than_o such_o person_n as_o shall_v be_v license_v according_a to_o this_o act_n except_o stage-coache_n to_o and_o from_o their_o inn_n and_o coach_n which_o shall_v take_v up_o a_o fare_n out_o of_o the_o city_n to_o be_v carry_v to_o any_o place_n within_o or_o beyond_o this_o city_n or_o the_o liberty_n thereof_o whilst_o they_o shall_v be_v without_o covin_z or_o delay_z driving_z to_o such_o place_n or_o place_n within_o or_o beyond_o this_o city_n or_o the_o liberty_n thereof_o only_o shall_v by_o himself_o or_o his_o servant_n drive_a for_o hire_n any_o hackney-coach_n or_o stand_v therewith_o to_o be_v hire_v within_o this_o city_n of_o london_n or_o the_o liberty_n thereof_o and_o that_o if_o any_o person_n or_o person_n not_o so_o license_v except_o as_o be_v before_o except_v shall_v presume_v by_o himself_o or_o his_o servant_n to_o drive_a for_o hire_n any_o coach_n within_o this_o city_n or_o the_o liberty_n thereof_o as_o aforesaid_a or_o to_o stand_v with_o any_o unlicence_v coach_n in_o order_n to_o be_v hire_v within_o the_o say_a city_n and_o liberty_n thereof_o that_o then_o the_o person_n or_o person_n so_o offend_a shall_v forfeit_v for_o every_o time_n wherein_o he_o or_o they_o shall_v offend_v in_o the_o premise_n the_o sum_n of_o forty_o shilling_n to_o be_v levy_v by_o distress_n of_o the_o coach_n and_o horse_n so_o to_o be_v drive_v or_o stand_v contrary_a to_o the_o true_a intent_n and_o meaning_n of_o this_o act_n or_o of_o one_o of_o they_o or_o to_o be_v recover_v by_o action_n of_o debt_n to_o be_v bring_v and_o prosecute_v in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o chamberlain_n of_o this_o city_n now_o and_o for_o the_o time_n be_v in_o any_o his_o majesty_n court_n of_o record_n within_o this_o city_n where_o action_n of_o debt_n may_v be_v bring_v and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v and_o ordain_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o in_o grant_v such_o licence_n as_o aforesaid_a regard_v in_o the_o first_o place_n be_v have_v to_o such_o person_n and_o person_n as_o be_v last_o license_v by_o virtue_n of_o a_o late_a act_n of_o parliament_n make_v in_o the_o fourteen_o year_n of_o his_o now_o majesty_n reign_n for_o regulate_v and_o licens_v of_o hackney-coache_n that_o shall_v desire_v licence_n in_o pursuance_n of_o this_o act_n and_o to_o the_o widow_n and_o widow_n of_o every_o of_o they_o that_o now_o have_v coach_n and_o horse_n or_o who_o livelihood_n be_v depend_v thereon_o and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v and_o ordain_v that_o upon_o the_o death_n forfeiture_n or_o surrender_v of_o any_o of_o the_o person_n and_o person_n first_o to_o be_v license_v as_o aforesaid_a and_o their_o respective_a widow_n nor_o at_o any_o time_n thereafter_o new_a licence_n for_o the_o keep_n hackney-coache_n within_o this_o city_n and_o the_o liberty_n thereof_o as_o aforesaid_a shall_v not_o be_v grant_v to_o any_o person_n or_o person_n that_o use_v any_o other_o trade_n or_o occupation_n or_o that_o shall_v vend_fw-mi
