letter_n shall_v come_v greeting_n we_o have_v look_v upon_o our_o charter_n of_o confirmation_n which_o we_o late_o make_v to_o the_o baron_n of_o our_o cinque-port_n under_o the_o seal_n which_o we_o then_o use_v after_o these_o word_n edward_n by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n king_n of_o england_n lord_n of_o ireland_n and_o duke_n of_o aquitain_n to_o all_o those_o to_o who_o these_o present_a letter_n shall_v come_v greeting_n we_o have_v look_v upon_o our_o charter_n of_o confirmation_n which_o we_o late_o make_v under_o the_o seal_n which_o we_o then_o use_v to_o the_o baron_n of_o our_o cinque-port_n after_o these_o word_n edward_n by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n king_n of_o england_n lord_n of_o ireland_n and_o duke_n of_o aquitain_n to_o all_o those_o to_o who_o these_o present_a letter_n shall_v come_v greeting_n we_o have_v look_v upon_o the_o letters-patent_n which_o the_o lord_n edward_n of_o famous_a memory_n late_a king_n of_o england_n our_o grandfather_n make_v according_a to_o these_o word_n edward_n by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n king_n of_o england_n lord_n of_o ireland_n and_o duke_n of_o aquitain_n to_o all_o those_o to_o who_o these_o present_a letter_n shall_v come_v greeting_n we_o consider_v that_o the_o navy_n of_o the_o cinque-port_n can_v be_v sustain_v without_o great_a cost_v and_o charge_n leave_v the_o navy_n for_o the_o future_a shall_v fail_v or_o decay_v we_o have_v grant_v for_o we_o and_o our_o heir_n that_o all_o the_o member_n of_o the_o cinque-port_n aforesaid_a and_o other_o advocants_n and_o resiant_n whatsoever_o in_o the_o liberty_n of_o the_o same_o do_v contribute_v viz._n every_o of_o they_o according_a to_o their_o ability_n for_o the_o do_v the_o service_n with_o their_o ship_n to_o we_o and_o our_o heir_n whenever_o by_o we_o or_o our_o heir_n they_o shall_v be_v command_v thereunto_o in_o witness_v whereof_o we_o have_v cause_v these_o our_o letter_n to_o be_v make_v patent_n witness_v ourselves_o at_o st._n alban_n the_o 28_o day_n of_o april_n in_o the_o 26_o year_n of_o our_o reign_n and_o we_o ratify_v the_o grant_v aforesaid_a do_v grant_n and_o confirm_v it_o to_o be_v well_o please_v to_o we_o and_o our_o heir_n as_o the_o aforesaid_a letter_n do_v reasonable_o testify_v and_o because_o about_o those_o general_a word_n contain_v in_o the_o letter_n aforesaid_a viz._n that_o every_o one_o contribute_v according_a to_o his_o ability_n there_o have_v rise_v in_o former_a time_n divers_a dissension_n that_o the_o baron_n of_o the_o port_n aforesaid_a may_v the_o more_o commodious_o pay_v their_o aforesaid_a service_n to_o we_o and_o our_o heir_n at_o fit_a time_n we_o have_v give_v and_o grant_v by_o the_o advice_n of_o our_o prelate_n earl_n and_o baron_n and_o the_o commons_o of_o our_o realm_n assemble_v together_o in_o our_o present_a parliament_n to_o the_o say_a baron_n of_o the_o cinque-port_n that_o all_o the_o member_n of_o the_o say_a port_n and_o all_o advocant_n and_o resiant_n whatsoever_o in_o the_o liberty_n of_o the_o same_o contribute_v to_o the_o navy_n and_o service_n aforesaid_a to_o be_v keep_v and_o maintain_v out_o of_o all_o their_o good_n and_o chattel_n as_o well_o those_o that_o be_v without_o the_o liberty_n of_o the_o aforesaid_a cinque-port_n as_o within_o and_o may_v be_v compel_v thereunto_o by_o the_o mayor_n and_o jurat_n of_o the_o port_n aforesaid_a and_o also_o if_o need_v be_v by_o the_o constable_n of_o our_o castle_n of_o dover_n foreigner_n the_o good_n of_o advocants_n and_o baron_n of_o the_o cinque-port_n not_o to_o be_v tax_v with_o the_o good_n of_o foreigner_n and_o that_o the_o good_n and_o chattel_n of_o the_o say_a baron_n and_o other_o as_o well_o without_o the_o say_a liberty_n as_o within_o which_o be_v tax_v for_o the_o maintenance_n of_o the_o navy_n and_o perform_v that_o service_n be_v by_o no_o mean_n tax_v for_o tallage_n and_o other_o tribute_n with_o the_o good_n and_o chattel_n of_o foreigner_n in_o witness_v whereof_o we_o have_v cause_v these_o our_o letter_n to_o be_v make_v patent_n witness_v ourselves_o at_o westminster_n the_o twenty_o five_o day_n of_o february_n in_o the_o first_o year_n of_o our_o reign_n and_o we_o think_v fit_a to_o have_v a_o copy_n of_o our_o charter_n aforesaid_a under_o the_o seal_n which_o we_o now_o use_v to_o be_v transcribe_v according_a to_o their_o request_n in_o witness_v whereof_o we_o have_v cause_v these_o our_o letter_n to_o be_v make_v patent_n witness_v ourselves_o at_o york_n the_o twenty_o six_o
