they_o shall_v have_v indemnity_n for_o their_o person_n and_o enjoy_v their_o estate_n and_o all_o other_o immunity_n without_o payment_n of_o five_o or_o twenty_o part_n or_o any_o other_o tax_n or_o imposition_n except_o what_o shall_v hereafter_o be_v charge_v upon_o they_o in_o common_a with_o other_o subject_n by_o authority_n of_o parliament_n and_o by_o the_o 21_o article_n it_o be_v further_o agree_v that_o no_o oath_n covenant_n protestation_n or_o subscription_n relate_v thereunto_o shall_v be_v impose_v upon_o any_o person_n whatsoever_o comprise_v within_o the_o say_a composition_n and_o according_a to_o a_o order_n of_o parliament_n of_o the_o second_o of_o july_n 1646._o and_o within_o the_o time_n thereby_o limit_v undertake_v by_o a_o subscription_n under_o his_o hand_n not_o to_o bear_v arm_n against_o the_o parliament_n according_a to_o the_o intention_n of_o the_o say_a order_n and_o 21_o article_n and_o upon_o the_o 24._o of_o the_o same_o july_n 1646._o he_o prefer_v his_o petition_n in_o person_n to_o the_o committee_n at_o goldsmiths-hall_n for_o compound_v with_o delinquent_n desire_v to_o compound_v according_a to_o the_o say_a article_n but_o be_v not_o admit_v because_o he_o refuse_v to_o take_v the_o negative_a oath_n and_o covenant_n and_o be_v the_o 13_o of_o august_n 1646._o for_o such_o his_o refusal_n only_o commit_v first_o to_o ely-house_n afterwards_o by_o order_n of_o the_o than_o house_n of_o commons_o to_o newgate_n for_o high-treason_n in_o levy_v war_n against_o the_o parliament_n where_o he_o continue_v almost_o four_o year_n and_o in_o that_o time_n be_v several_a time_n indict_v for_o treason_n and_o twice_o arraign_v for_o his_o life_n at_o the_o than_o king_n bench_n bar_n and_o that_o judgement_n be_v obtain_v against_o he_o in_o personal_a action_n for_o seven_o thousand_o pound_n in_o damage_n and_o all_o this_o for_o act_n relate_v to_o the_o difference_n between_o the_o late_a king_n and_o the_o parliament_n and_o before_o the_o date_n of_o the_o say_a article_n that_o in_o july_n 1650._o he_o be_v by_o order_n of_o the_o high_a court_n of_o justice_n remove_v from_o newgate_n to_o the_o tower_n and_o there_o keep_v in_o close_a custody_n and_o the_o seventeen_o of_o december_n 1650._o and_o divers_a day_n after_o try_v for_o his_o life_n before_o the_o say_a high_a court_n who_o after_o many_o day_n trial_n examination_n of_o witness_n and_o strict_a inquiry_n into_o his_o action_n and_o the_o performance_n of_o the_o article_n on_o his_o part_n do_v not_o proceed_v to_o sentence_n but_o certify_v their_o proceed_n to_o the_o parliament_n a_o copy_n of_o which_o certificate_n be_v annex_v to_o this_o petition_n that_o ever_o since_o the_o say_a trial_n he_o be_v a_o prisoner_n and_o from_o the_o date_n of_o the_o say_a article_n his_o estate_n sequester_v by_o which_o together_o with_o his_o debt_n and_o fell_v his_o wood_n and_o timber_n he_o have_v lose_v near_o thirty_o thousand_o pound_n in_o his_o estate_n beside_o his_o imprisonment_n and_o hazard_v of_o his_o life_n that_o his_o estate_n by_o a_o act_n of_o the_o 16_o of_o july_n 1651._o be_v among_o other_o declare_v forfeit_v for_o treason_n and_o have_v be_v since_o sell_v according_o that_o neither_o he_o nor_o his_o son_n or_o servant_n have_v engage_v against_o the_o parliament_n in_o any_o act_n of_o hostility_n since_o the_o say_a article_n nor_o have_v he_o lose_v the_o benefit_n thereof_o by_o any_o default_n of_o he_o and_o therefore_o pray_v that_o the_o say_a certificate_n of_o the_o high_a court_n of_o justice_n may_v be_v consider_v and_o the_o liberty_n of_o his_o person_n and_o the_o possession_n of_o his_o estate_n may_v be_v grant_v to_o he_o profit_n of_o his_o estate_n for_o seven_o year_n have_v be_v receive_v to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o commonwealth_n unto_o which_o petition_n several_a plea_n and_o demurrer_n be_v put_v in_o by_o mr._n attorney_n general_n on_o the_o behalf_n of_o the_o commonwealth_n of_o england_n and_o by_o the_o council_n for_o the_o trustee_n for_o sale_n of_o estate_n forfeit_v for_o treason_n on_o the_o behalf_n of_o the_o same_o trustee_n the_o effect_n whereof_o be_v it_o appear_v that_o the_o parliament_n have_v interpose_v in_o the_o case_n of_o the_o petitioner_n both_o in_o respect_n of_o his_o
