when_o he_o say_v that_o by_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n he_o take_v the_o vessel_n or_o instrument_n of_o a_o foolish_a pastor_n or_o shepherd_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d signify_v unto_o the_o hebrews_n any_o instrument_n we_o expound_v it_o a_o break_a bag_n but_o that_o be_v to_o much_o wrest_v i_o doubt_v not_o therefore_o but_o that_o by_o the_o instrument_n of_o the_o pastor_n not_o so_o but_o since_o we_o allege_v not_o nor_o use_v any_o prescript_n read_v or_o form_n of_o prayer_n and_o homily_n to_o maintain_v the_o ignorance_n of_o unskilful_a pastor_n but_o be_v according_a unto_o this_o christ._n or_o else_o they_o be_v not_o elect_v and_o ordain_v aright_o or_o else_o this_o be_v not_o so_o the_o right_a election_n and_o ordain_v of_o they_o but_o presuppose_v to_o be_v meet_a man_n they_o have_v not_o be_v capable_a of_o those_o place_n and_o charge_n and_o if_o i_o shall_v go_v further_o what_o one_o of_o our_o bre._n be_v not_o make_v simple_o minister_n of_o the_o word_n and_o sacrament_n and_o not_o minister_n condicionall_a as_o the_o minister_n of_o this_o or_o of_o that_o place_n charge_n or_o flock_n although_o it_o may_v be_v some_o of_o they_o be_v already_o provide_v for_o in_o that_o béâ—halfe_n but_o their_o take_n of_o order_n or_o office_n of_o the_o ministry_n itself_o depend_v not_o thereon_o which_o it_o must_v have_v do_v be_v the_o place_n a_o part_n and_o that_o a_o necessary_a part_n of_o the_o office_n they_o say_v that_o this_o their_o learned_a discourse_n be_v a_o brief_a &_o plain_a declaration_n concern_v the_o desire_n of_o all_o those_o faithful_a minister_n that_o have_v &_o do_v seek_v for_o the_o discipline_n and_o reformation_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n but_o if_o this_o be_v one_o of_o the_o point_n they_o desire_v and_o seek_v for_o then_o they_o desire_v and_o seek_v for_o that_o which_o overthrow_v both_o their_o own_o ministry_n and_o their_o brethren_n be_v dispose_v here_o to_o speak_v in_o cloud_n and_o to_o tell_v the_o people_n of_o office_n in_o act_n and_o esse_fw-la of_o proper_a relation_n and_o of_o potential_a ability_n be_v like_a because_o they_o will_v the_o world_n shall_v well_o understande_v that_o this_o be_v for_o sooth_n a_o learned_a discourse_n howbeit_o all_o this_o discourse_n here_o be_v but_o of_o the_o name_n of_o this_o order_n or_o office_n of_o the_o ministry_n but_o be_v they_o relative_n as_o proper_a as_o they_o will_v and_o the_o relation_n also_o in_o act_n and_o esse_fw-la as_o they_o term_v it_o yet_o do_v it_o not_o follow_v that_o this_o actual_a and_o essential_a relation_n must_v be_v so_o strict_o relate_v to_o a_o place_n where_o he_o must_v be_v a_o pastor_n or_o elder_a or_o overseer_n that_o he_o can_v be_v make_v the_o pastor_n elder_n or_o overseer_n till_o he_o come_v thither_o his_o self_n and_o excercise_n the_o office_n actual_o for_o if_o there_o be_v no_o potential_a abilitye_n but_o only_o the_o very_a act_n and_o esse_fw-la thereof_o to_o be_v consider_v in_o the_o office_n of_o a_o pastor_n elder_a or_o overseer_n then_o be_v he_o not_o a_o pastor_n elder_n or_o overseer_n till_o he_o do_v feed_v or_o teach_v they_o govern_v they_o and_o oversee_v they_o actual_o but_o if_o heée_v be_v not_o the_o pastor_n till_o he_o come_v actual_o his_o self_n to_o do_v these_o action_n among_o they_o then_o be_v all_o the_o action_n aforesaid_a in_o the_o synod_n fustrate_v except_o they_o go_v all_o home_n with_o he_o and_o ordain_v he_o only_o then_o in_o look_v over_o a_o whole_a realm_n and_o that_o such_o a_o realm_n as_o england_n be_v maior_fw-la est_fw-la orbis_fw-la urbe_fw-la say_v saint_n jerome_n and_o yet_o in_o the_o city_n where_o he_o be_v at_o rome_n the_o multitude_n of_o the_o evil_a priest_n or_o minister_n and_o their_o envy_n make_v he_o forsake_v rome_n and_o go_v to_o bethelem_n life_n yea_o for_o the_o envy_n of_o the_o priest_n and_o minister_n long_o before_o he_o tertullian_n from_o grow_v in_o malecontentment_n with_o the_o dissolute_a life_n of_o the_o minister_n fall_v so_o far_o from_o they_o that_o in_o the_o end_n he_o become_v a_o montaniste_n and_o the_o too_o much_o dislike_n of_o the_o corrupt_a life_n of_o the_o bishop_n the_o clergy_n and_o the_o minister_n in_o the_o ancient_a church_n have_v make_v many_o too_o austere_a minister_n otherwise_o excellent_a learned_a man_n and_o straight_a liver_n become_v schismatic_n as_o many_o of_o the_o precise_a novatian_n and_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d or_o puritan_n be_v pretend_v but_o now_o if_o we_o shall_v look_v over_o the_o whole_a realm_n of_o england_n what_o a_o multitude_n say_v our_o brother_n of_o unfit_a pastor_n shall_v you_o find_v in_o every_o place_n and_o indeed_o what_o a_o multitude_n i_o grant_v more_o than_o we_o will_v there_o be_v or_o than_o there_o shall_v be_v for_o in_o duty_n there_o ought_v none_o at_o all_o to_o be_v unfit_a but_o if_o we_o shall_v view_v the_o number_n well_o without_o sinister_a affection_n i_o trust_v we_o shall_v not_o stude_fw-la consider_v the_o whole_a realm_n so_o etc._n etc._n where_o here_o they_o speak_v not_o of_o so_o odd_a particular_a evil_a person_n either_o degenerate_v from_o their_o order_n or_o unworthy_a to_o have_v be_v at_o alâ—_n ordain_v or_o and_o reformation_n we_o can_v find_v if_o not_o a_o multitude_n in_o every_o place_n which_o god_n forbid_v yet_o some_o
persuade_v it_o and_o more_o mislike_v they_o when_o they_o view_v and_o consider_v better_o of_o the_o matter_n of_o the_o ground_n of_o the_o prove_v and_o of_o the_o drift_n thereof_o but_o if_o they_o mean_v this_o through_o persuasion_n to_o be_v of_o they_o only_o that_o do_v open_o profess_v their_o discontentment_n and_o be_v recusant_n and_o accusant_n of_o thâ—_n government_n mean_v the_o time_n immediate_o succeed_v that_o time_n church_n that_o be_v express_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o though_o they_o do_v comprehend_v in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o primitive_a church_n the_o time_n also_o express_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n or_o any_o example_n in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n they_o shall_v hardly_o urge_v a_o rule_n or_o prescription_n of_o some_o one_o example_n if_o they_o have_v nothing_o else_o but_o only_o some_o such_o example_n for_o it_o well_o may_v a_o example_n be_v bring_v for_o a_o instance_n of_o the_o practice_n of_o some_o one_o point_n or_o matter_n set_v forth_o in_o this_o form_n practice_n but_o what_o will_v that_o serve_v for_o any_o example_n of_o all_o the_o point_n &_o matter_n that_o they_o have_v set_v forth_o in_o this_o form_n can_v they_o prove_v a_o general_a practice_n of_o all_o these_o or_o of_o any_o one_o â—oint_n upon_o which_o they_o have_v discourse_v that_o the_o example_n thereof_o be_v use_v universal_o speech_n and_o in_o continual_a practice_n in_o the_o primitive_a church_n understand_v the_o primitive_a church_n how_o they_o please_v they_o have_v not_o yet_o show_v we_o any_o such_o example_n no_o in_o very_a deed_n not_o any_o one_o example_n that_o be_v answerable_a to_o this_o their_o prescribe_a form_n yes_o say_v they_o we_o be_v able_a to_o prove_v this_o form_n to_o be_v consent_v to_o the_o example_n of_o the_o primitive_a church_n consent_v what_o mean_v they_o by_o that_o so_o they_o tell_v we_o before_o of_o be_v agreeable_a to_o the_o word_n of_o out_o to_o be_v note_v in_o the_o answer_n to_o this_o learned_a discourse_n in_o how_o many_o and_o that_o no_o small_a thing_n diverse_a of_o our_o brother_n oppose_v themselves_o to_o the_o they_o will_v agree_v upon_o to_o desire_v nor_o be_v able_a to_o determine_v what_o we_o may_v grant_v and_o how_o then_o in_o this_o confusion_n and_o contrariety_n of_o their_o desire_v and_o seek_v can_v any_o one_o man_n or_o a_o number_n of_o they_o that_o agree_v upon_o this_o form_n here_o set_v forth_o if_o indeed_o they_o have_v agree_v and_o be_v not_o also_o in_o many_o thing_n as_o we_o have_v see_v clean_o contrary_a to_o their_o own_o self_n even_o in_o this_o learned_a discourse_n make_v this_o solemn_a protestation_n not_o only_o for_o he_o or_o for_o themselves_o but_o they_o seek_v for_o and_o desire_n but_o yet_o our_o brother_n think_v perhaps_o that_o this_o solemn_a protestation_n will_v do_v well_o here_o protestation_n to_o move_v the_o reader_n heart_n at_o
