work_n of_o reconciliation_n at_o your_o majesty_n foot_n we_o must_v believe_v that_o when_o your_o majesty_n take_v our_o consent_n to_o a_o liturgy_n to_o be_v a_o foundation_n that_o will_v infer_v our_o concord_n you_o mean_v not_o that_o we_o shall_v have_v no_o concord_n but_o by_o consent_v to_o this_o liturgy_n without_o any_o considerable_a alteration_n and_o when_o your_o majesty_n command_v we_o by_o letter_n patent_n to_o meet_v about_o such_o alteration_n as_o be_v needful_a or_o expedient_a to_o give_v satisfaction_n to_o tender_a conscience_n and_o the_o restore_n and_o continue_v of_o peace_n and_o unity_n we_o rest_v assure_v it_o be_v not_o your_o majesty_n sense_n that_o those_o tender_a conscience_n shall_v be_v force_v to_o practise_v all_o which_o they_o judge_v unlawful_a or_o not_o so_o much_o as_o a_o ceremony_n shall_v be_v abate_v they_o or_o that_o our_o treaty_n be_v only_o to_o convert_v either_o party_n to_o the_o opinion_n of_o another_o and_o that_o all_o our_o hope_n of_o liberty_n and_o concord_n consist_v only_o in_o dispute_v the_o bishop_n into_o nonconformity_n or_o come_v in_o every_o ceremony_n to_o their_o mind_n this_o be_v the_o church_n misery_n that_o when_o any_o particular_a interest_n grow_v in_o prosperity_n and_o power_n and_o can_v carry_v all_o before_o it_o condescension_n present_o cease_v on_o that_o side_n and_o so_o the_o disagree_a party_n in_o the_o several_a vicissitude_n of_o public_a affair_n tread_v down_o one_o another_o and_o justify_v themselves_o by_o the_o like_a miscarriage_n of_o their_o opposite_n when_o time_n be_v by_o this_o mean_v the_o church_n distemper_n and_o breach_n be_v perpetuate_v and_o religion_n in_o general_n suffer_v much_o damage_n and_o scorn_n but_o it_o will_v be_v the_o glory_n of_o that_o party_n that_o stand_v on_o the_o vantage-ground_n to_o give_v a_o lead_a example_n of_o unconstrained_a moderation_n sect_n xvii_o acquiescence_n in_o the_o widen_v establishment_n be_v the_o safety_n of_o religion_n if_o it_o be_v say_v that_o a_o little_a yield_v do_v but_o make_v way_n for_o further_a encroachment_n we_o suppose_v that_o governor_n know_v how_o far_o to_o trust_v and_o what_o it_o be_v fit_a to_o grant_v if_o subject_n know_v not_o what_o be_v fit_a for_o they_o to_o ask_v person_n allow_v in_o the_o public_a service_n may_v easy_o be_v keep_v in_o that_o dependence_n on_o the_o state_n which_o shall_v prevent_v the_o danger_n of_o a_o anti-clergy_n we_o suppose_v likewise_o that_o a_o sound_a church-government_n be_v not_o so_o weak_a and_o totter_a that_o the_o abatement_n of_o some_o rigour_n in_o thing_n at_o best_a but_o indifferent_a will_v hazard_v its_o overturning_a the_o wise_a sort_n of_o dissenter_n who_o they_o dread_v the_o consequent_n of_o change_n the_o hurry_v into_o other_o extreme_n and_o the_o wild_a excursion_n of_o some_o spirit_n they_o will_v not_o be_v leave_v again_o to_o the_o late_a that_o such_o unfixed_a liberty_n will_v not_o secure_v they_o and_o therefore_o it_o may_v well_o be_v think_v they_o will_v accept_v reasonable_a term_n and_o rest_v satisfy_v therein_o but_o this_o consideration_n be_v take_v by_o the_o wrong_a handle_n if_o this_o sober_a and_o steady_a part_n of_o the_o nonconformist_n be_v slight_v and_o judge_v the_o less_o considerable_a because_o they_o be_v cast_v into_o one_o condition_n as_o to_o the_o law_n with_o other_o that_o be_v of_o more_o unmanageable_a and_o unstable_a principle_n for_o who_o can_v tell_v how_o time_n may_v work_v out_o
