minister_n of_o the_o episcopal_a protestant_a church_n of_o england_n 33._o vide_fw-la p._n 33._o be_v idolater_n but_o pray_v mr._n reconciler_n be_v please_v to_o tell_v we_o wherein_o the_o papist_n be_v idolater_n i_o presume_v you_o will_v answer_v if_o any_o thing_n to_o the_o purpose_n that_o the_o papist_n be_v idolater_n either_o because_o they_o worship_v the_o host_n or_o because_o they_o bow_v down_o to_o and_o worship_n image_n and_o crucifix_n very_o good_a if_o they_o do_v worship_n the_o host_n crucifix_n or_o image_n we_o then_o be_v of_o your_o opinion_n and_o do_v believe_v that_o they_o be_v idolater_n and_o our_o church_n of_o england_n conclude_v the_o same_o of_o they_o whilst_o they_o worship_v the_o host_n as_o god_n which_o indeed_o be_v no_o god_n for_o otherwise_o be_v the_o host_n as_o all_o papist_n believe_v transubstantiate_v into_o the_o very_a body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n god-man_n than_o it_o will_v be_v no_o idolatry_n to_o worship_n the_o host_n but_o sir_n as_o to_o crucifix_n and_o image_n if_o a_o religious_a bow_v down_o to_o and_o pray_v before_o a_o image_n or_o crucifix_n with_o the_o eye_n direct_v towards_o it_o and_o cast_v upon_o it_o be_v idolatry_n then_o we_o must_v tell_v you_o that_o mr._n richard_n baxter_n your_o admire_a author_n and_o your_o great_a dissenter_n be_v a_o notorious_a idolater_n for_o if_o mr._n baxter_n himself_o in_o his_o christian_a directory_n or_o if_o doctor_n edw._n stilling-fleet_n in_o his_o vnreasonableness_n of_o separation_n may_v be_v credit_v the_o say_a mr._n baxter_n write_v that_o it_o be_v lawful_a to_o fall_v down_o and_o pray_v before_o a_o crucifix_n and_o that_o it_o be_v lawful_a to_o direct_v our_o eye_n towards_o the_o say_a image_n or_o crucifix_n for_o the_o better_a stir_a up_o of_o our_o devotion_n and_o therefore_o mr._n baxter_n call_v a_o crucifix_n medium_fw-la excitans_fw-la not_o medium_fw-la terminans_fw-la of_o our_o devotion_n and_o no_o more_o say_v the_o papist_n for_o themselves_o when_o they_o bow_v to_o or_o pray_v before_o a_o crucifix_n or_o image_n and_o now_o to_o argue_v a_o little_a with_o you_o if_o mr._n baxter_n a_o presbyterian-idolater_n may_v be_v indulge_v and_o admit_v into_o our_o church-communion_n then_o pray_v why_o may_v not_o another_o man_n who_o be_v a_o popish-idolater_n in_o like_a manner_n be_v indulge_v and_o admit_v too_o very_o you_o must_v grant_v the_o demand_n and_o indulge_v they_o both_o or_o else_o discover_v the_o partiality_n of_o your_o conscience_n and_o affection_n but_o pray_v sir_n what_o be_v it_o that_o weigh_v down_o the_o balance_n of_o your_o affection_n more_o towards_o the_o dissenter_n than_o towards_o the_o papist_n see_v neither_o of_o they_o be_v protestant_n the_o one_o party_n as_o well_o as_o the_o other_o be_v your_o native_a countryman_n and_o therefore_o upon_o that_o account_n they_o both_o equal_o challenge_v your_o love_n and_o christ_n die_v for_o papist_n as_o well_v as_o for_o dissenter_n and_o beaufront_n and_o therefore_o according_a to_o your_o own_o argument_n you_o ought_v to_o be_v as_o solicitous_a for_o their_o salvation_n as_o for_o the_o other_o 2._o but_o you_o will_v again_o object_n that_o the_o papist_n be_v superstitious_a and_o so_o be_v the_o dissenter_n as_o also_o the_o beaufront_n it_o be_v a_o great_a superstition_n for_o any_o man_n to_o oblige_v himself_o and_o his_o party_n to_o serve_v god_n only_o in_o such_o and_o such_o a_o particular_a way_n 13._o jos_n glanvill_n essay_n 4._o p._n 13._o displease_v to_o his_o lawful_a prince_n and_o contrary_a to_o his_o royal_a command_n when_o at_o the_o same_o time_n he_o may_v as_o well_o have_v serve_v god_n in_o the_o way_n command_v which_o be_v and_o be_v as_o please_v unto_o god_n and_o much_o more_o please_v unto_o his_o prince_n this_o be_v the_o great_a superstition_n all_o the_o dissenter_n and_o beaufront_n be_v for_o any_o man_n to_o oblige_v himself_o not_o to_o do_v a_o thing_n indifferent_a as_o to_o be_v oblige_v by_o his_o prince_n to_o do_v it_o for_o every_o man_n in_o that_o case_n be_v more_o his_o king_n and_o sovereign_n man_n than_o his_o own_o and_o therefore_o all_o those_o person_n who_o oblige_v themselves_o and_o their_o follower_n not_o to_o observe_v the_o order_n and_o ceremaony_n of_o our_o church_n which_o be_v acknowledge_v to_o be_v thing_n indifferent_a and_o which_o be_v command_v by_o the_o king_n all_o such_o person_n whether_o beaufront_v or_o dissenter_n be_v not_o only_o disloyal_a and_o schismatical_a but_o also_o self-willed_a and_o high_o superstitious_a as_o well_o as_o the_o papist_n 3._o but_o you_o will_v plead_v far_o that_o the_o papist_n be_v so_o wed_v to_o their_o principle_n as_o that_o neither_o scripture_n reason_n nor_o antiquity_n can_v divert_v they_o and_o pray_v be_v not_o all_o the_o dissenter_n wed_v as_o strong_o to_o they_o if_o they_o be_v man_n of_o any_o settle_a principle_n and_o humour_n indeed_o as_o for_o the_o beaufront_n they_o will_v not_o wait_v for_o either_o scripture_n or_o reason_n but_o like_o the_o weathercock_n will_v turn_v with_o every_o wind_n 4._o but_o say_v you_o the_o papist_n have_v vow_v obedience_n to_o the_o pope_n of_o rome_n and_o i_o pray_v have_v not_o the_o presbyterian_o vow_a
