their_o bishop_n and_o another_o for_o their_o archbishop_n great_a be_v the_o bounty_n of_o our_o predecessor_n in_o this_o kind_n and_o this_o also_o do_v even_o under_o popery_n and_o shall_v we_o then_o injoyinge_v a_o most_o happy_a reformation_n and_o a_o pure_a doctrine_n be_v grieve_v to_o part_n with_o a_o little_a in_o the_o second_o of_o chronicle_n chap._n 31_o 8_o we_o read_v thus_o in_o the_o church_n of_o england_n who_o neither_o by_o the_o spirit_n nor_o yet_o of_o industrious_a study_n cann_v preach_v at_o all_o therefore_o they_o content_v themselves_o to_o read_v divine_a service_n only_o or_o at_o the_o most_o to_o read_v some_o time_n a_o homily_n to_o their_o parishioner_n these_o when_o they_o read_v divine_a service_n you_o shall_v find_v they_o to_o do_v it_o very_o irreverent_o postinge_v over_o it_o also_o as_o hasty_o as_o they_o may_v also_o if_o they_o read_v any_o homily_n it_o be_v then_o but_o seldom_o and_o this_o also_o in_o such_o a_o manner_n as_o plain_o show_v that_o they_o little_o tender_v the_o people_n in_o struction_n if_o you_o observe_v the_o speech_n or_o communication_n of_o these_o out_o of_o the_o church_n you_o shall_v find_v the_o same_o to_o be_v whole_o of_o the_o worid_a and_o world_o thing_n have_v no_o evidence_n of_o religion_n or_o of_o faith_n accord_v to_o the_o gospel_n yea_o you_o shall_v find_v the_o most_o of_o these_o to_o be_v pot_n companion_n and_o this_o also_o in_o the_o lewd_a and_o most_o profane_a company_n of_o the_o parish_n they_o be_v as_o lascivious_a as_o those_o who_o have_v no_o fear_n of_o god_n their_o talk_n also_o be_v full_a of_o foolish_a jestinge_n if_o not_o also_o of_o ribaldry_n look_v into_o the_o family_n of_o these_o and_o what_o shall_v you_o find_v very_o as_o little_a show_n of_o godliness_n fear_v of_o god_n or_o faith_n as_o in_o the_o most_o ignorant_a and_o profane_a family_n of_o your_o kingdom_n no_o morning_n or_o eveninge_a prayer_n scarce_o grace_v before_o and_o after_o meat_n little_a or_o no_o read_n of_o the_o scripture_n no_o repetition_n of_o sermon_n nor_o any_o catechise_n throughout_o the_o year_n as_o for_o your_o people_n in_o such_o parish_n you_o shall_v common_o find_v they_o ignorant_a in_o divine_a mystery_n necessary_a to_o salvation_n careless_a to_o know_v they_o at_o all_o swearer_n drinker_n jester_n filthy_a speaker_n and_o in_o a_o word_n without_o any_o show_v of_o true_a godliness_n save_v only_o that_o to_o satisfy_v the_o law_n they_o resort_v on_o sunday_n to_o the_o read_n of_o divine_a service_n but_o there_o neither_o caringe_v to_o mark_v oughts_z for_o their_o instruction_n nor_o come_n away_o to_o be_v oughts_z at_o all_o better_v in_o life_n or_o conversation_n in_o these_o parish_n you_o shall_v common_o find_v very_o few_o if_o any_o bibles_n no_o use_n make_v of_o they_o at_o home_n if_o there_o be_v any_o nor_o any_o religious_a duty_n as_o i_o say_v above_o exercise_v in_o their_o family_n such_o as_o be_v eveninge_v prayer_n grace_v before_o and_o after_o meat_n repeatinge_v of_o sermon_n or_o catechisinge_v alas_o what_o evidence_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o such_o pastor_n what_o prevayl_v be_v here_o of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n do_v not_o the_o kingdom_n of_o satan_n rather_o prevail_v in_o such_o parish_n very_o my_o lord_n and_o king_n you_o shall_v find_v under_o such_o pastor_n as_o now_o i_o write_v of_o the_o rude_a ignorant_a and_o wicked_a of_o your_o people_n therefore_o my_o humble_a petition_n be_v that_o for_o the_o betteringe_a of_o your_o people_n in_o such_o place_n and_o for_o removinge_a a_o scandal_n from_o our_o church_n such_o unpreachinge_a pastor_n enjoy_v not_o whole_o the_o live_n but_o rather_o be_v put_v to_o some_o small_a stipend_n and_o the_o residue_n bestow_v on_o some_o other_o who_o cann_v preach_v the_o gospel_n i_o grante_v that_o homily-readinge_a be_v not_o whole_o without_o use_n in_o such_o
