of Our Councell i●●he North parts It being found a thing beneficiall to Our Subiects who heretofore ha●●eceaued much losse and damage in their Armes through the vnskilfulnes of workemen ●ad likewise much auayling to the furtherance of Our seruice when neede shall require 〈◊〉 whereas wee conceiuing the said suite might be requisite for the good of the Realme ●●re graciously pleased to referre the Consideration thereof to Our Commissioners for the 〈◊〉 of the Earle Marshall to take such order therin for satisfaction of Our said Seruant as 〈◊〉 in their wisedomes should think fit And whereas Our said Commissioners vpon ●●●ticular examination and consideration had of the said suite did find and certifie ●s that the said suite was fit to be graunted with certaine limitations in the said pres●●●es graunted varnishe dresse amend and keepe in repaire all and all manner of Armes ●nd Armour preserued kept or maintained or which ought to bee preserued kept or maintain●● at the common charge of any Countie Citie Borough Towne or other place or places as●ell within Liberties as without within this Our Realme of England or Dominion of W●●●● Taking for the varnishment of euery white Corslet fiue shillings for dressing euery b●●●●● Corslet twelue pence for dressing euery Musket or Caliuer twelue pence And for ●●●●ring and amending other defects in any of the said Armes and Armors aswell to demand aske take and receiue 〈◊〉 ●he parties whom it shall concerne for the varnishing of euery white Corslet Fiue shillings 〈◊〉 dressing euery blacke Corslet Twelue pence for dressing euery Musket or Caliuer Twe●●● pence and for repairing and amending of other defects in any of the saide Armes or Armou●● or any other Armes such summe and summes of money as shall be agreed vpon to be paid compositions or agreements with any person or persons bodies politique 〈◊〉 corporate for their labour trauaile and attendance in and about the varnishing dressing ●mending and keeping in repaire from time to time of any Armes or Armour preserued for 〈◊〉 seruice of Vs Our Heires or Successors at any such common charge as ●foresaid a●● for which no certaine fee or duty is before limitted or appointed to be taken and demanded ●●ceiue and take the summes of money and compositions so to bee agreed vpon and paid to the●● owne proper vse and behoofe To haue hold vse exercise and enioy the preserued for the s●●uice of Vs Our Heires and successours at any such common charge as aforesaid within th●● Our Realme of England and Dominion of Wales As also all singuler bodies politique a●● corporate Lord Lieutenants Deputie Lieutenants Iustices of Peace Maiors Shiriff●● Constables and other Officers and Ministers of Vs our Heires and Successours whats●●uer within Our said Realme and Dominion whom it shall or may concerne That th●● or any of them doe not at any time or times during the terme aforesaid imploy or vse any ●ther Armorers or other person or persons other then the said or keeping in repaire of any the said Arm●● kept or maintained vpon common charge as they tender Our pleasure and vpon such pai●●● and penalties as may be inflicted vpon the Offendors for contempt of this Our Royall Co●mandement And because it may fall out that such Armes of many of the Counties Citie● Townes or places within this Our Realme and Dominion shal remaine in places one dista●● farre from another or vpon occasion to be dispersed abroad from the vsuall places where t●● same haue beene and ought to be kept whereby the said Laurence Lisle Daniel Thornes Iohn D●nington Robert Harwood Robert Leming and Francis Thompson and their assignes seruants a●● workemen shall be constrained to make many iourneys or else bee enforced to stay for the 〈◊〉 Armes to their great charges and losse of their time Our will and pleasure is and Wee d●● hereby for Vs our Heires and Successors ordaine command and appoint that all and sing●ler such common Armes of euerie seuerall Liberty and Place shal be conueyed and brou●●● vnto such place and places being not too far distant or remote once euery yeare to be viewe● amended and repaired in manner aforesaid and at such conuenient time and times as hundred or libertie within which the said Armes shal be or remaine respectiuely sh●●● thinke fit set downe limit and appoint And in case any person or persons hauing the custodie of such common Armes as aforesai● shall refuse to bring the same to be viewed and repaired then vpon certificate to the Comm●●sioners for the Office of Earle Marshal or to the Earle Marshall of England for the time h●●ing the partie delinquent shall receiue such punishment as to the said Commissioners or a●● three of them or to the Earle Marshall for the time being shall seeme meete And for th● better effecting thereof that the said chiefe Constables doe from time to time giue warni●● and notice vnto the petty Constables within their seuerall limits liberties and precincts to cause the said Armes belonging to their liberties respectiuely to be conueyed and brought vnto such conuenient place and places and at such conuenient time and times once euery yeare as ●●●●re mentioned or intended according to the true meaning of these pr●●●●●s t●●hereof We 〈◊〉 ●●kewise hereby for Vs our Heires and Successors charge and com●●nd that they nor any of them doe faile in any manner of wise And Our will and pleasure is That if the said Laurence Lisle Daniel Thornes Iohn Donington Robert Harwood Robert Leming and Francis Thompson their Deputies or Assignes shall finde the Armes vsed to be maintained at the common charge to be diminished lost or imbes●led that they doe signifie Our will and pleasure that the same shall be supplyed and renewed by such as ought of right to supplie the same Prouided alwaies that if at any time or times hereafter any Sixe or more of the Lords or others of the priuie Counsell of Vs Our Heires and Successours vpon iust cause to them appearing shall by writing vnder their hands set downe any order in any wise touching this Graunt either in poynt of moderation of any thing contained in it or in the execution thereof That then the sayd Laurence Lisle Daniel Thornes Iohn Donington Robert Harwood Robert Leming and Francis Thompson their Assignes and Workemen shall obserue and keepe such order as shall be so decreed and set downe any thing herein contayned to the contrary not withstanding And lastly Our will and pleasure is and Wee doe hereby for Vs Our Heires and Successours charge and command all Captaines Muster-masters and Clerkes of Musters to giue true Copies out of their bookes vnto the sayd Laurence Lisle Daniel Thornes Iohn Donington Robert Harwood Robert Leming and Francis Thompson their Deputies or Assignes of all the common Armes and Armour within their seuerall charge and likewise all Deputie Lieutenants Iustices of peace Maiors Sheriffes Muster-masters and Clerkes of Musters Bayliffes Constables Headboroughs and all other the Officers and Ministers of Vs Our Heires and Successours for the time being from time to time during the terme aforesayd to be ayding helping and assisting to the sayd Laurence Lisle Daniel Thornes Iohn Donington Robert Harwood Robert Leming and Francis Thompson their Assignes Seruants and Workemen in all things tending to the execution of these our Letters Patents according to the purport and true meaning of the same as they tender the pleasure of Vs Our Heires and Successours and will answere the contrarie at their perils Although expresse mention of the true yeerely value or certainty of the premisses or any of them or of any other Gifts or Grants by Vs or any of Our Progenitours or Predecessours to the sayd Laurence Lisle Daniel Thornes Iohn Donington Robert Harwood Robert Leming and Francis Thompson or any of them heretofore made in these presents is not made or any Statute Acte Ordinance Prouision Proclamation or Restraint to the contrarie thereof heretofor● had made ordayned or prouided or any other thing cause or matter whatsoeuer in any-wise not withstanding In witnesse whereof wee haue caused these Our Letters to be made Patents Witnesse Our selfe at Westminster the Eleueneth Day of Iulie in the Eighteenth Yeere of Our Reigne of England France and Ireland and of Scotland the Three and Fiftieth God saue the King ¶ Imprinted at London by Robert Barker and Iohn Bill
