england_n appeal_n to_o the_o parliament_n at_o oxford_n march_z 21_o st_o 1680_o 1._o most_o worthy_a senator_n our_o distemper_n be_v many_o and_o grievous_a our_o pressure_n heavy_a and_o burdensome_a our_o application_n we_o make_v to_o you_o through_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n you_o be_v the_o mean_n of_o our_o help_n and_z as_o parliament_n be_v constitute_v by_o law_n call_v by_o the_o king_n choose_v by_o the_o people_n and_o all_o this_o for_o these_o end_n either_o humble_o to_o counsel_n the_o king_n to_o provide_v for_o the_o safety_n of_o the_o subject_a to_o prevent_v the_o conspiracy_n of_o our_o enemy_n of_o which_o we_o have_v many_o principal_o the_o papist_n who_o for_o these_o hundred_o year_n have_v persecute_v and_o demolish_v the_o protestant_a interest_n in_o england_n scotland_n ireland_n and_o likewise_o in_o all_o part_n of_o europe_n their_o implacable_a rage_n have_v transcend_v all_o the_o malice_n and_o mischief_n of_o former_a age_n cruelty_n whether_o of_o the_o assyrian_n and_o philistine_n of_o old_a to_o the_o israelite_n or_o the_o last_o ten_o persecute_v heathen_a emperor_n to_o the_o primitive_a christian_n but_o those_o most_o worthy_a senator_n which_o be_v the_o supplanter_n of_o our_o protestant_a interest_n which_o indeed_o be_v our_o best_a interest_n be_v certain_o a_o pernicious_a weave_a knot_n of_o malignant_a active_a spirit_n combine_a and_o confederate_v to_o supplant_v the_o fundamental_a law_n and_o principle_n of_o government_n on_o which_o the_o religion_n and_o government_n of_o the_o kingdom_n be_v firm_o establish_v and_o of_o this_o sort_n must_v there_o be_v these_o four_o viz._n 1._o the_o first_o sort_n be_v jesuited_a papist_n who_o tooth_n have_v long_o water_v for_o and_o their_o ravenous_a appetite_n hunger_v to_o devour_v our_o religion_n 2._o the_o second_o sort_n be_v perfidious_a papist_n in_o protestant_a masque_n of_o these_o too_o many_o have_v we_o lurk_v in_o england_n these_o be_v enemy_n very_o dangerous_a because_o most_o indiscernible_a their_o enmity_n be_v hide_v under_o a_o vizard_n of_o friendship_n and_o if_o in_o high_a place_n and_o great_a employment_n do_v harm_n for_o under_o a_o pretence_n of_o pluck_v down_o popery_n they_o set_v the_o structure_n the_o firm_a if_o possible_a though_o secret_o they_o act_n as_o much_o or_o more_o than_o the_o profess_a papist_n 3._o the_o three_o sort_n be_v treacherous_a courtier_n who_o may_v in_o a_o pensionary_a way_n for_o beggarly_a selfish_n end_v engage_v themselves_o to_o foreign_a prince_n to_o the_o prejudice_n of_o their_o natural_a king_n and_o state_n at_o home_n i_o do_v say_v there_o be_v such_o in_o england_n but_o i_o wish_v there_o be_v none_o these_o may_v harm_v we_o exceed_o be_v politic_a man_n and_o not_o unable_a through_o deficiency_n of_o part_n to_o set_v on_o work_v their_o evil_a design_n have_v also_o the_o advantage_n of_o place_n add_v to_o the_o former_a and_o general_o it_o tend_v these_o four_o way_n either_o first_o to_o work_n and_o win_v the_o king_n to_o stand_v stiff_o to_o his_o royal_a prerogative_n and_o the_o people_n for_o the_o maintenance_n of_o their_o liberty_n and_o privilege_n thus_o seem_v to_o side_n with_o the_o king_n against_o the_o subject_a will_v seem_v his_o faithful_a servant_n and_o true_a friend_n when_o for_o the_o world_n he_o will_v not_o but_o the_o people_n also_o shall_v stand_v up_o for_o their_o liberty_n and_o so_o he_o fish_n in_o trouble_a water_n to_o engross_v the_o more_o to_o himself_o or_o second_o to_o suppress_v religion_n in_o its_o purity_n lest_o that_o have_v a_o free_a course_n shall_v be_v a_o irresistible_a stop_n to_o their_o design_n and_o tend_v to_o pull_v down_o that_o religion_n which_o he_o imagine_v most_o likely_a to_o set_v up_o his_o interest_n or_o three_o in_o countenance_v all_o of_o their_o own_o stamp_n to_o disgrace_n vilify_v and_o dishearten_v all_o their_o opposite_a party_n render_v none_o the_o loyal_a party_n but_o themselves_o and_o their_o adherer_n or_o four_o by_o scandal_n to_o work_v in_o the_o king_n to_o disaffect_v parliament_n by_o misconstruction_n etc._n etc._n which_o be_v much_o to_o our_o loss_n i_o pray_v god_n england_n may_v have_v none_o such_o evil_a councillor_n 4._o but_o the_o four_o sort_n of_o our_o enemy_n be_v base_a pamphleteer_n who_o will_v glad_o set_v we_o together_o by_o the_o ear_n which_o very_o much_o want_n suppress_v now_o these_o four_o enemy_n of_o we_o call_v we_o to_o take_v heed_n but_o most_o worthy_a senator_n to_o you_o do_v we_o appeal_v and_o as_o we_o have_v choose_v you_o our_o representative_n to_o you_o do_v we_o refer_v it_o whether_o or_o no_o these_o be_v not_o our_o enemy_n and_o if_o they_o be_v that_o you_o will_v act_v as_o the_o case_n require_v beside_o other_o mischief_n we_o suffer_v as_o first_o but_o that_o especial_o in_o the_o country_n our_o faithful_a minister_n be_v thrust_v into_o corner_n by_o suspension_n and_o deprivation_n and_o second_o with_o many_o the_o name_n of_o a_o papist_n be_v exalt_v above_o that_o of_o a_o presbyterian_a a_o very_a horrid_a shame_n yea_o a_o judgement_n that_o diffent_v protestant_n shall_v be_v reckon_v worse_a than_o real_a papist_n but_o we_o humble_o conceive_v none_o do_v this_o but_o papist_n in_o protestant_a masque_n at_o the_o best_a and_o three_o the_o plot_n to_o assassinate_n his_o majesty_n to_o subvert_v the_o government_n so_o plain_o prove_v be_v with_o many_o not_o acknowledge_v but_o rather_o turn_v into_o ridicule_n and_o the_o evidence_n ungrateful_o disparage_v and_o fourthly_a these_o time_n of_o uncertainty_n be_v a_o great_a let_v to_o england_n prosperity_n very_o few_o sunshining_a day_n have_v we_o enjoy_v since_o this_o thick_a cloud_n of_o popish_a plot_n have_v hang_v over_o our_o head_n five_o england_n have_v be_v great_o oppress_v by_o reason_n of_o the_o suppression_n of_o religion_n it_o have_v suffer_v in_o fines_n stigmatizing_n etc._n etc._n six_o evil_a councillor_n which_o crafty_o confederate_a that_o which_o tend_v to_o our_o harm_n but_o let_v they_o remember_v malum_fw-la consilium_fw-la consultori_fw-la possimum_fw-la which_o may_v prove_v so_o in_o the_o long_o run_v seven_o general_o in_o the_o interval_n of_o the_o parliament_n sit_v most_o worthy_a senator_n how_o usual_a be_v it_o for_o you_o to_o be_v vilify_v and_o great_o contemn_v your_o proceeding_n to_o be_v asperse_v and_o besmear_v eight_o our_o enemy_n that_o have_v begin_v be_v restless_a till_o they_o finish_v as_o impossible_a believe_v it_o most_o worthy_a senator_n to_o be_v for_o a_o stone_n cast_v up_o in_o the_o air_n when_o descend_v towards_o the_o earth_n to_o rest_v before_o it_o attain_v it_o centre_n their_o centre_n be_v mischief_n their_o motion_n thereunto_o be_v restless_a be_v it_o otherwise_o most_o certain_o they_o must_v be_v treacherous_a to_o themselves_o because_o unanimous_o join_v to_o destroy_v we_o have_v also_o attempt_v great_a thing_n against_o we_o and_o be_v unvail_v such_o a_o odium_n stain_v their_o name_n that_o doubtless_o nothing_o less_o than_o our_o blood_n will_v serve_v turn_n for_o they_o to_o wash_v it_o off_o they_o also_o we_o conceive_v be_v grow_v to_o such_o a_o height_n of_o insolency_n that_o no_o less_o than_o a_o universal_a propagate_a of_o their_o wicked_a cause_n over_o the_o european_a part_n will_v satisfy_v their_o ambitious_a and_o covetous_a project_n face_v with_o the_o pretence_n of_o a_o zeal_n to_o a_o superstitious_a religion_n all_o their_o trick_n evasion_n and_o sham_a design_n be_v lay_v as_o open_v as_o themselves_o and_o hereby_o their_o odium_n much_o aggravate_v must_v needs_o enrage_v their_o desperateness_n which_o be_v a_o mean_n of_o not_o abate_v our_o jealousy_n which_o incite_v we_o to_o vigilancy_n for_o we_o expect_v no_o mercy_n from_o they_o when_o upon_o we_o but_o england_n have_v be_v make_v a_o ass_n of_o to_o bear_v the_o heavy_a burden_n but_o now_o it_o be_v more_o skittish_a and_o its_o danger_n the_o more_o man_v it_o with_o valour_n and_o most_o worthy_a senator_n to_o your_o consideration_n refer_v we_o these_o two_o principal_a prop_n of_o our_o prosperity_n first_o obstruct_v a_o popish_a successor_n from_o inherit_v the_o imperial_a crown_n of_o this_o realm_n and_o second_o in_o unite_n his_o majesty_n subject_n which_o be_v to_o we_o of_o high_a concern_v for_o we_o appeal_v to_o you_o what_o mercy_n favour_n or_o compassion_n will_v a_o popish_a prince_n exercise_n over_o protestant_a subject_n whether_o or_o no_o he_o will_v be_v false_a to_o his_o own_o profession_n be_v he_o true_a to_o we_o our_o religion_n liberty_n and_o property_n our_o union_n also_o be_v a_o great_a branch_n of_o our_o felicity_n in_o that_o it_o dishearten_v all_o our_o foe_n therefore_o most_o worthy_a senator_n as_o our_o grievance_n be_v heavy_a our_o enemy_n many_o our_o jealousy_n numerous_a and_o fearful_a as_o all_o with_o we_o be_v at_o hazard_n as_o religion_n liberty_n property_n and_o that_o you_o will_v be_v please_v to_o consider_v your_o own_o and_o the_o nation_n good_a which_o that_o you_o may_v do_v pray_v the_o english_a nation_n london_n print_v
