unto_o themselves_o such_o worship_n and_o work_v as_o god_n have_v not_o command_v they_o imagine_v that_o god_n have_v a_o pleasure_n therein_o and_o they_o hope_v to_o receive_v a_o reward_n of_o this_o faith_n in_o christ_n god_n see_v not_o my_o doubt_v of_o his_o good_a will_n towards_o i_o my_o distrust_n my_o heaviness_n of_o spirit_n and_o other_o sin_n which_o be_v yet_o in_o i_o for_o as_o long_o as_o i_o live_v in_o the_o flesh_n sin_n be_v very_o in_o i_o but_o because_o i_o be_o cover_v under_o the_o shadow_n of_o christ_n wing_n as_o be_v the_o chicken_n under_o the_o wing_n of_o the_o hen_n and_o dwell_v without_o all_o fear_n under_o that_o most_o ample_a and_o large_a heaven_n of_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n which_o be_v spread_v over_o i_o god_n cover_v and_o pardon_v the_o remnant_n of_o sin_n in_o i_o that_o be_v to_o say_v because_o of_o that_o faith_n wherewith_o i_o begin_v to_o lay_v hold_n upon_o christ_n he_o accept_v my_o imperfect_a righteousness_n even_o for_o perfect_a righteousness_n &_o count_v my_o sin_n for_o no_o sin_n which_o notwithstanding_o be_v sin_n in_o deed_n so_o we_o shroud_v ourselves_o under_o the_o cover_n of_o christ_n flesh_n who_o be_v our_o cloudy_a pillar_n for_o the_o day_n and_o our_o fire_n by_o the_o night_n lest_o god_n shall_v see_v our_o sin_n and_o although_o we_o see_v it_o and_o for_o it_o as_o though_o it_o be_v nothing_o at_o all_o not_o for_o our_o sake_n neither_o for_o our_o worthiness_n and_o work_n but_o for_o jesus_n christ_n sake_n in_o who_o we_o believe_v thus_o a_o christian_a man_n be_v both_o righteous_a and_o a_o sinner_n sinner_n holy_a and_o profane_a a_o enemy_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o a_o child_n of_o god_n these_o contrary_n no_o sophister_n will_v admit_v for_o they_o know_v not_o the_o true_a manner_n of_o justification_n and_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o they_o will_v have_v man_n to_o work_v well_o so_o long_o until_o they_o shall_v feel_v no_o sin_n at_o all_o in_o they_o and_o thereby_o they_o give_v occasion_n to_o many_o which_o strive_v with_o all_o their_o endeavour_n to_o be_v perfect_o righteous_a &_o yet_o not_o able_a to_o attain_v thereunto_o to_o become_v stark_o mad_a and_o a_o infinite_a number_n also_o of_o those_o which_o be_v the_o author_n of_o this_o wicked_a opinion_n at_o the_o point_n of_o death_n be_v drive_v into_o desperation_n which_o thing_n have_v happen_v unto_o i_o also_o if_o christ_n have_v not_o merciful_o look_v upon_o i_o and_o help_v i_o out_o of_o this_o error_n comfort_v on_o the_o otherside_n we_o teach_v and_o comfort_v the_o afflict_a sinner_n after_o this_o manner_n brother_n it_o be_v not_o possible_a for_o thou_o to_o become_v so_o righteous_a in_o this_o life_n that_o thou_o shall_v feel_v no_o sin_n at_o all_o that_o thy_o body_n shall_v be_v clear_a like_o the_o sun_n without_o spot_n or_o blemish_n but_o thou_o have_v as_o yet_o wrinkle_n and_o spot_n &_o yet_o the_o morning_n sacrifice_n be_v to_o glorify_v god_n thus_o a_o christian_a daily_o and_o continual_o be_v occupy_v in_o this_o double_a sacrifice_n and_o in_o the_o exercise_n thereof_o and_o no_o man_n be_v able_a to_o set_v forth_o sufficient_o the_o excellency_n and_o dignity_n of_o this_o christian_a sacrifice_n righteousness_n this_o be_v therefore_o a_o strange_a and_o a_o wonderful_a definition_n of_o christian_a righteousness_n that_o it_o be_v the_o imputation_n of_o god_n for_o righteousness_n or_o unto_o righteousness_n because_o of_o our_o faith_n in_o christ_n or_o for_o christ_n sake_n when_o the_o popish_a schoolman_n hear_v this_o definition_n they_o laugh_v at_o it_o for_o they_o imagine_v that_o righteousness_n be_v a_o certain_a quality_n pour_v into_o the_o soul_n and_o afterward_o spread_v into_o all_o the_o part_n of_o man_n they_o can_v not_o put_v away_o the_o vain_a imagination_n of_o reason_n which_o teach_v that_o a_o right_a judgement_n and_o a_o good_a will_n or_o a_o good_a intent_n be_v true_a righteousness_n this_o unspeakable_a gift_n therefore_o excel_v all_o reason_n that_o god_n do_v account_n and_o acknowledge_v he_o for_o righteous_a without_o work_n which_o embrace_v his_o son_n by_o faith_n alone_o who_o be_v send_v into_o the_o world_n be_v bear_v suffer_v and_o be_v crucify_v for_o us._n this_o matter_n as_o touch_v the_o be_v give_v for_o we_o and_o who_o we_o apprehend_v by_o faith_n have_v do_v no_o small_a thing_n for_o we_o neither_o have_v he_o dally_v with_o we_o but_o as_o paul_n say_v before_o 2d_o he_o have_v love_v we_o and_o give_v himself_o in_o very_a deed_n for_o we_o 3.13_o he_o be_v make_v accurse_v for_o we_o etc_n etc_n and_o this_o be_v no_o vain_a speculation_n that_o christ_n be_v deliver_v for_o my_o sin_n and_o be_v make_v accurse_v for_o i_o that_o i_o may_v be_v deliver_v from_o everlasting_a death_n us._n therefore_o to_o apprehend_v that_o son_n by_o faith_n and_o with_o the_o heart_n to_o believe_v in_o he_o give_v unto_o we_o and_o for_o we_o of_o god_n cause_v that_o god_n do_v account_v that_o faith_n although_o it_o be_v unperfect_a for_o perfect_a righteousness_n and_o we_o be_v altogether_o in_o a_o other_o world_n far_o from_o reason_n where_o we_o dispute_v not_o what_o we_o ought_v to_o do_v or_o with_o what_o work_v we_o may_v deserve_v grace_n and_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n but_o we_o be_v here_o in_o a_o matter_n of_o high_a and_o heavenly_a divinity_n where_o we_o do_v hear_v this_o gospel_n or_o glad_a tiding_n that_o christ_n die_v for_o we_o and_o that_o we_o beleve_v this_o be_v count_v righteous_a though_o sin_n notwithstanding_o do_v remain_v in_o we_o and_o that_o horrible_a sin_n so_o our_o saviour_n christ_n also_o define_v the_o righteousness_n of_o faith_n the_o father_n say_v he_o love_v you_o wherefore_o do_v he_o love_v you_o not_o because_o you_o be_v pharisee_o gospel_n unreprovable_a in_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n circumcise_v or_o because_o you_o do_v good_a work_n and_o fast_v etc_o etc_o but_o because_o i_o have_v choose_v you_o out_o of_o the_o world_n &_o you_o have_v do_v nothing_o but_o that_o you_o have_v love_v i_o and_o believe_v that_o i_o come_v out_o from_o the_o father_n this_o object_n i_o be_v send_v from_o the_o father_n into_o the_o world_n please_v you_o and_o because_o you_o have_v apprehend_v and_o embrace_v this_o object_n he_o therefore_o the_o father_n love_v you_o and_o therefore_o you_o please_v he_o and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o in_o a_o other_o place_n he_o call_v they_o evil_a and_o command_v they_o to_o ask_v forgiveness_n of_o their_o sin_n these_o two_o thing_n be_v quite_o contrary_a to_o wit_n that_o a_o christian_n be_v righteous_a and_o belove_a yoke_n of_o bondage_n bondage_n and_o say_v that_o they_o which_o affirm_v the_o keep_n of_o circumcision_n to_o be_v necessary_a to_o salvation_n make_v christ_n unprofitable_a and_o can_v not_o be_v drive_v from_o the_o law_n and_o circumcision_n nor_o yet_o from_o the_o confidence_n which_o he_o have_v in_o his_o own_o righteousness_n and_o work_n nor_o be_v stir_v up_o to_o seek_v that_o liberty_n which_o be_v in_o christ_n his_o heart_n be_v hard_a than_o stone_n and_o iron_n this_o be_v therefore_o a_o most_o certain_a and_o clear_a sentence_n that_o christ_n be_v unprofitable_a that_o be_v to_o say_v he_o be_v bear_v crucify_v and_o rise_v again_o in_o vain_a to_o he_o that_o be_v circumcise_v that_o be_v which_o put_v his_o trust_n in_o circumcision_n for_o as_o i_o have_v well_o in_o mind_n in_o our_o private_a tentation_n when_o the_o devil_n accuse_v and_o terrify_v our_o conscience_n to_o drive_v it_o to_o desperation_n for_o he_o be_v the_o father_n of_o lie_v and_o the_o enemy_n of_o christian_a liberty_n therefore_o he_o torment_v we_o every_o moment_n with_o false_a fear_n that_o when_o our_o conscience_n have_v lose_v this_o christian_a liberty_n it_o shall_v feel_v the_o remorse_n of_o sin_n and_o condenmation_n and_o always_o remain_v in_o auguish_n and_o terror_n when_o that_o great_a dragon_n i_o say_v that_o old_a serpent_n the_o devil_n who_o
