justify_v in_o reject_v the_o soul_n of_o some_o infant_n from_o eternity_n because_o he_o foresee_v that_o their_o great-grandfather_n will_v reject_v and_o refuse_v the_o gospel_n when-as_a they_o by_o no_o personal_a act_n shall_v do_v any_o such_o thing_n he_o may_v be_v justify_v even_o in_o the_o eternal_a condemnation_n of_o child_n for_o the_o sin_n of_o adam_n or_o the_o personal_a obliquity_n and_o corruption_n of_o their_o nature_n and_o so_o it_o be_v not_o unrighteous_a with_o god_n eternal_o to_o condemn_v a_o child_n for_o its_o original_a corruption_n only_o but_o we_o be_v not_o now_o speak_v of_o eternal_a condemnation_n but_o of_o bodily_a and_o temporal_a yea_o and_o temporary_a punishment_n which_o may_v very_o well_o consist_v with_o the_o eternal_a salvation_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o it_o be_v very_o absurd_a for_o we_o to_o think_v that_o for_o such_o punishment_n the_o infant_n may_v not_o be_v punish_v without_o the_o impeach_a of_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n though_o it_o have_v be_v guilty_a of_o no_o actual_a sin_n deserve_v so_o early_o a_o chastisement_n of_o it_o oh_o therefore_o suffer_v not_o in_o such_o case_n your_o heart_n or_o lip_n to_o transgress_v god_n may_v do_v it_o in_o righteousness_n he_o may_v thus_o just_o punish_v original_a sin_n in_o the_o child_n he_o may_v just_o punish_v our_o sin_n upon_o the_o back_n of_o our_o child_n speak_v not_o a_o word_n against_o god_n in_o this_o providence_n 2._o do_v what_o in_o thou_o lie_v second_o to_o find_v out_o the_o cause_n when_o the_o jew_n query_v our_o saviour_n concern_v the_o man_n that_o be_v bear_v blind_a for_o who_o sin_n it_o be_v whether_o he_o or_o his_o parent_n our_o saviour_n answer_v they_o that_o it_o be_v neither_o for_o his_o sin_n nor_o yet_o for_o his_o parent_n but_o that_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n may_v appear_v in_o that_o famous_a miracle_n which_o our_o saviour_n wrought_v in_o restore_v he_o to_o his_o sight_n it_o be_v a_o hard_a thing_n to_o find_v out_o god_n end_n in_o his_o dispensation_n of_o punitive_a providence_n god_n may_v sometime_o afflict_v and_o take_v away_o little_a one_o for_o their_o own_o sin_n for_o the_o sin_n of_o adam_n for_o the_o iniquity_n in_o which_o they_o be_v conceive_v and_o the_o sin_n in_o which_o they_o be_v bring_v forth_o god_n may_v sometime_o do_v it_o for_o the_o parent_n sin_n sometime_o he_o may_v do_v it_o principal_o neither_o for_o the_o one_o nor_o for_o the_o other_o of_o these_o end_n but_o for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o parent_n or_o for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o child_n you_o have_v hear_v that_o this_o motion_n of_o divine_a providence_n be_v high_o reasonable_a upon_o more_o than_o one_o account_n but_o yet_o when_o we_o feel_v the_o smart_n of_o such_o a_o dispensation_n we_o know_v not_o how_o to_o look_v upon_o it_o otherwise_o than_o as_o a_o punishment_n but_o now_o our_o business_n under_o such_o providence_n be_v to_o inquire_v what_o sinful_a life_n and_o whoso_o be_v conscious_a to_o himself_o of_o a_o sinful_a course_n of_o life_n need_v not_o inquire_v much_o for_o what_o cause_n god_n bring_v he_o under_o such_o dispensation_n thy_o heart_n more_o of_o thy_o love_n and_o and_o delight_n than_o god_n have_v no_o wonder_n if_o he_o have_v take_v it_o from_o thou_o this_o be_v now_o usual_o the_o sin_n of_o those_o who_o circumstance_n in_o the_o world_n be_v better_o they_o have_v a_o fair_a estate_n in_o the_o world_n and_o child_n few_o enough_o to_o leave_v it_o to_o and_o in_o such_o case_n it_o be_v a_o very_a hard_a thing_n to_o keep_v our_o heart_n within_o due_a bound_n but_o our_o affection_n be_v ready_a to_o overflow_v especial_o if_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o the_o temper_n or_o behaviour_n of_o the_o child_n that_o take_v off_o the_o edge_n of_o our_o affection_n to_o it_o 3._o do_v not_o thy_o heart_n smite_v thou_o for_o the_o neglect_n of_o thy_o duty_n to_o thy_o child_n especial_o if_o it_o be_v of_o any_o year_n thy_o duty_n in_o instruct_v it_o or_o thy_o duty_n in_o reprove_v and_o admonish_v it_o elie_n son_n be_v indeed_o man_n grow_v but_o god_n cut_v off_o his_o child_n
