moment_n that_o he_o see_v his_o cavalry_n rout_v leave_v the_o fight_n and_o return_v into_o his_o camp_n tell_v his_o officer_n who_o be_v upon_o the_o guard_n that_o they_o shall_v take_v care_n at_o the_o head_n of_o they_o direct_o to_o pompey_n trench_n they_o follow_v he_o the_o cohort_n that_o guard_v the_o camp_n and_o the_o auxiliary_a thracian_n make_v a_o stout_a resistance_n but_o at_o last_o be_v press_v on_o every_o side_n they_o give_v ground_n and_o flee_v towards_o the_o mountain_n which_o be_v hard_o by_o pompey_n upon_o this_o occasion_n show_v nothing_o that_o be_v either_o worthy_a of_o his_o courage_n or_o reputation_n nor_o give_v the_o least_o order_n for_o his_o defence_n and_o when_o caesar_n man_n be_v already_o in_o his_o line_n how_o say_v he_o in_o my_o very_a camp_n so_o get_v on_o horseback_n he_o escape_v through_o the_o decumane_a gate_n and_o flee_v to_o larissa_n where_o he_o make_v not_o the_o least_o stay_n but_o with_o the_o same_o march_v to_o larissa_n after_o this_o he_o divide_v his_o troop_n send_v one_o part_n of_o they_o to_o guard_n pompey_n camp_n and_o the_o other_o into_o his_o own_o march_v in_o person_n with_o the_o four_o legion_n to_o cut_v off_o a_o passage_n from_o the_o enemy_n he_o draw_v up_o in_o battalion_n six_o thousand_o pace_n from_o that_o place_n which_o cause_v pompey_n man_n to_o make_v a_o the_o enemy_n fleet_n which_o he_o put_v into_o some_o disorder_n but_o the_o valour_n of_o the_o soldier_n make_v the_o victory_n yet_o doubtful_a as_o they_o be_v all_o of_o they_o choose_a troop_n they_o defend_v themselves_o with_o invincible_a courage_n and_o make_v a_o great_a slaughter_n of_o the_o enemy_n that_o attempt_v to_o approach_v they_o when_o straight_o they_o see_v cleopatra_n sixty_o galley_n advance_v between_o the_o two_o fleet_n with_o all_o their_o sail_n abroad_o this_o movement_n equal_o surprise_v both_o navy_n anthony_n be_v already_o in_o some_o disorder_n and_o when_o he_o expect_v some_o great_a action_n from_o these_o galley_n which_o be_v th●_n best_o of_o his_o fleet_n he_o be_v amaze_v to_o see_v they_o all_o of_o a_o sudden_a tack_n about_o and_o run_v towards_o peloponnesus_n withal_o the_o sail_n they_o can_v bear_v thus_o the_o historian_n relate_v it_o after_o plutarch_n without_o give_v any_o other_o reason_n of_o this_o baseness_n of_o the_o egyptian_n than_o the_o timorousness_n of_o their_o queen_n that_o which_o they_o add_v be_v yet_o more_o surprise_v anthony_n have_v give_v too_o many_o proof_n of_o his_o courage_n ever_o to_o be_v suspect_v of_o cowardice_n and_o in_o this_o occasion_n not_o only_o the_o empire_n of_o the_o world_n but_o his_o own_o life_n be_v at_o stake_n and_o there_o be_v nothing_o to_o make_v he_o despair_v of_o success_n for_o quite_o contrary_a the_o resolution_n of_o his_o man_n and_o their_o firmness_n in_o maintain_v the_o combat_n seem_v to_o assure_v he_o of_o the_o victory_n if_o they_o have_v be_v but_o well_o lead_v on_o but_o when_o he_o see_v cleopatra_n fly_v he_o forget_v the_o care_n both_o of_o his_o honour_n and_o safety_n to_o make_v himself_o a_o accomplice_n of_o her_o cowardly_a flight_n and_o as_o if_o he_o have_v nothing_o more_o to_o apprehend_v than_o her_o absence_n he_o think_v of_o nothing_o then_o but_o to_o run_v after_o she_o he_o throw_v himself_o into_o a_o galley_n with_o only_a scellus_fw-la and_o alexander_n the_o syrian_a abandon_v his_o soldier_n that_o so_o generous_o expose_v their_o life_n for_o his_o interest_n and_o follow_v the_o course_n that_o cleopatra_n stand_v she_o soon_o know_v he_o and_o put_v a_o flag_n abroad_o at_o the_o prow_n of_o her_o galley_n he_o come_v near_o and_o when_o he_o be_v aboard_o he_o retire_v to_o the_o prow_n without_o so_o much_o as_o see_v the_o queen_n and_o be_v a_o good_a while_n alone_o lean_v his_o head_n upon_o his_o hand_n the_o gallantry_n and_o fidelity_n of_o his_o soldier_n can_v be_v enough_o admire_v upon_o this_o occasion_n although_o the_o general_n have_v leave_v they_o and_o the_o report_n of_o his_o flight_n be_v spread_v all_o about_o the_o fleet_n they_o act_v like_o people_n that_o will_v not_o believe_v it_o and_o still_o fight_v
