betwixt_o he_o and_o they_o more_o than_o there_o be_v betwixt_o he_o and_o their_o forefather_n that_o god_n be_v change_v in_o this_o his_o carriage_n towards_o they_o they_o may_v thank_v themselves_o the_o breach_n begin_v on_o their_o part_n so_o be_v it_o here_o have_v not_o man_n first_o turn_v enemy_n to_o god_n break_v covenant_n with_o he_o god_n will_v never_o have_v turn_v enemy_n to_o man_n there_o shall_v never_o have_v be_v any_o need_n of_o a_o mediator_n betwixt_o they_o no_o more_o than_o there_o be_v betwixt_o adam_n and_o he_o in_o state_n of_o innocency_n herein_o then_o let_v we_o justify_v god_n charge_v the_o ground_n of_o this_o enmity_n upon_o ourselves_o we_o be_v enemy_n to_o he_o otherwise_o he_o have_v never_o be_v at_o enmity_n to_o we_o that_o we_o be_v so_o we_o shall_v need_v no_o other_o evidence_n but_o what_o we_o carry_v about_o with_o we_o who_o be_v there_o but_o have_v his_o conviction_n in_o his_o own_o bosom_n even_o that_o principle_n of_o enmity_n and_o rebellion_n which_o be_v to_o be_v find_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n by_o nature_n the_o carnal_a mind_n be_v enmity_n against_o god_n say_v the_o apostle_n rom._n 8.7_o speak_v of_o a_o man_n in_o his_o unregenerate_a estate_n for_o it_o be_v not_o subject_a to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n neither_o indeed_o can_v be_v viz._n not_o without_o a_o work_n of_o supernatural_a grace_n subdue_a the_o rebellion_n of_o the_o
will_n thus_o be_v all_o man_n by_o nature_n enemy_n to_o god_n no_o wonder_v then_o that_o they_o can_v please_v he_o as_o it_o follow_v in_o the_o next_o verse_n ver_fw-la 8._o that_o he_o shall_v be_v a_o enemy_n to_o they_o be_v we_o convince_v of_o this_o enmity_n whereof_o this_o word_n mediator_n put_v we_o in_o mind_n 2._o in_o the_o second_o place_n be_v jesus_n christ_n mediator_n betwixt_o god_n and_o man_n mediator_n 2._o admire_v and_o adore_v god_n unparalleled_a love_n declare_v in_o this_o mediator_n here_o stand_v we_o still_o observing_z admire_a adore_v the_o matchless_a and_o unparalleled_a love_n mercy_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n towards_o poor_a lose_a mankind_n in_o find_v out_o a_o way_n and_o mean_n of_o reconciliation_n for_o they_o appoint_v a_o arbitratour_n a_o peacemaker_n ordain_v and_o send_v a_o mediator_n such_o a_o mediator_n herein_o there_o be_v divers_a particular_n which_o do_v exceed_o commend_v this_o love_n of_o god_n to_o we_o as_o 1._o that_o he_o be_v the_o person_n offend_v man_n 1._o in_o seek_v reconciliation_n with_o man_n shall_v seek_v reconciliation_n this_o we_o take_v to_o be_v great_a condescension_n in_o man_n especial_o in_o superior_n to_o do_v this_o to_o inferior_n what_o be_v it_o in_o the_o great_a god_n that_o he_o shall_v appoint_v a_o agent_n to_o negotiate_v with_o and_o for_o man_n a_o mediator_n to_o compromise_v and_o take_v up_o the_o difference_n betwixt_o he_o and_o they_o and_o to_o reconcile_v man_n to_o himself_o behold_v here_o a_o act_n of_o grace_n free_a grace_n rich_a grace_n mere_a grace_n what_o be_v there_o in_o man_n that_o god_n shall_v thus_o regard_v his_o enmity_n or_o seek_v his_o amity_n have_v god_n any_o need_n of_o man_n nothing_o less_o he_o be_v absolute_o and_o infinite_o happy_a and_o bless_a from_o all_o eternity_n he_o need_v neither_o man_n nor_o angel_n he_o be_v as_o happy_a before_o their_o creation_n as_o after_o it_o be_v all_o one_o to_o he_o whether_o man_n or_o no_o man_n and_o those_o whether_o enemy_n or_o friend_n their_o amity_n can_v add_v nothing_o to_o nor_o their_o enmity_n detract_v any_o thing_n from_o his_o felicity_n he_o shall_v have_v be_v no_o gainer_n by_o the_o one_o and_o he_o can_v have_v be_v no_o loser_n by_o the_o other_o he_o know_v which_o way_n to_o glorify_v himself_o as_o well_o upon_o man_n a_o enemy_n as_o upon_o man_n reconcile_v what_o be_v it_o then_o that_o move_v he_o to_o seek_v this_o reconciliation_n and_o to_o send_v a_o mediator_n about_o this_o work_n sure_o nothing_o but_o his_o grace_n that_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d that_o grace_n bring_v salvation_n that_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d that_o kindness_n and_o love_n of_o god_n towards_o mankind_n of_o which_o the_o apostle_n speak_v tit._n 3.11_o and_o 3.4_o behold_v a_o act_n of_o mere_a and_o rich_a grace_n which_o be_v further_o commend_v to_o we_o angel_n 2._o appoint_v a_o mediator_n for_o man_n not_o for_o angel_n second_o in_o that_o this_o mediator_n be_v appoint_v betwixt_o god_n and_o man_n not_o betwixt_o god_n and_o angel_n as_o for_o the_o angel_n some_o of_o they_o as_o i_o show_v you_o stand_v in_o as_o much_o need_n of_o a_o mediator_n as_o mankind_n they_o be_v fall_v from_o god_n be_v plunge_v into_o a_o depth_n of_o misery_n and_o so_o be_v as_o proper_a object_n of_o pity_n and_o mercy_n as_o apt_a to_o move_v compassion_n as_o mankind_n yet_o god_n overlook_v they_o pass_v they_o by_o leave_v they_o in_o that_o forlese_a estate_n to_o be_v confirm_v and_o harden_v in_o that_o their_o enmity_n against_o he_o that_o so_o he_o may_v have_v a_o occasion_n for_o the_o declare_v and_o exercise_v the_o riches_n of_o his_o justice_n upon_o they_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n he_o appoint_v a_o mediator_n in_o the_o behalf_n of_o mankind_n one_o that_o may_v take_v hold_n of_o they_o to_o reconcile_v they_o to_o save_v they_o 3._o and_o 3_o take_v notice_n of_o the_o person_n office_n 3_o design_v his_o son_n to_o this_o office_n who_o it_o be_v who_o he_o design_v and_o appoint_v unto_o this_o office_n who_o he_o put_v upon_o this_o work_n even_o the_o man_n christ_n jesus_n no_o other_o but_o his_o own_o and_o only_o son_n god_n be_v in_o christ_n reconcile_n the_o world_n to_o himself_o now_o lay_v these_o together_o and_o see_v whether_o this_o grace_n of_o god_n manifest_v towards_o we_o in_o and_o through_o this_o our_o mediator_n do_v not_o deserve_v to_o be_v look_v upon_o with_o a_o grateful_a admiration_n i_o have_v do_v with_o the_o first_o head_n pass_v we_o to_o the_o second_o be_v jesus_n christ_n mediator_n betwixt_o god_n and_o man_n in_o the_o way_n aforesaid_a consolation_n use_v 2_o consolation_n here_o be_v a_o overflow_a spring_n of_o abundant_a consolation_n not_o unlike_o that_o spring_n which_o issue_v out_o of_o the_o rock_n in_o the_o wilderness_n exodus_fw-la 17.6_o which_o follow_v the_o israelite_n go_v along_o with_o they_o in_o make_v peace_n betwixt_o god_n and_o man_n to_o reconcile_v the_o one_o to_o the_o other_o this_o office_n be_v impose_v upon_o he_o by_o god_n his_o father_n he_o undertake_v and_o undertake_v he_o have_v discharge_v it_o perform_v what_o ever_o be_v require_v from_o he_o by_o his_o father_n in_o order_n to_o this_o reconciliation_n make_v a_o full_a satisfaction_n unto_o his_o justice_n by_o
