that_o not_o only_o the_o doctrinal_a but_o the_o practical_a part_n of_o it_o be_v a_o mystery_n to_o flesh_n and_o blood_n such_o be_v faith_n in_o christ_n love_v to_o our_o enemy_n self-denial_n and_o a_o readiness_n to_o take_v up_o the_o cross_n many_o of_o these_o duty_n be_v account_v folly_n and_o madness_n by_o wise_a man_n after_o the_o flesh_n it_o teach_v a_o heavenly_a life_n fellowship_n and_o communion_n with_o god_n to_o do_v all_o thing_n from_o holy_a principle_n and_o to_o holy_a end_n so_o that_o the_o holiness_n that_o be_v in_o the_o truth_n of_o scripture_n shall_v much_o affect_v we_o but_o oh_o how_o few_o read_v and_o delight_n in_o the_o scripture_n because_o of_o the_o holiness_n in_o they_o you_o read_v they_o for_o dispute_v or_o to_o know_v the_o history_n and_o to_o be_v able_a to_o hold_v up_o argument_n but_o who_o be_v there_o that_o think_v this_o the_o truth_n of_o scripture_n be_v holy_a they_o be_v to_o make_v heavenly_a and_o pure_a they_o will_v forewarn_v of_o sin_n they_o quicken_v to_o grace_v they_o inflame_v to_o faith_n and_o love_n oh_o mind_n this_o all_o scripture-truth_n be_v for_o holiness_n as_o meat_n be_v not_o to_o be_v look_v upon_o but_o eat_v and_o digest_v truth_n 7._o they_o be_v precious_a excellent_a truth_n and_o therefore_o compare_v by_o david_n to_o fine_a gold_n and_o by_o solomon_n prefer_v above_o all_o jewel_n prov._n 3.15_o the_o apostle_n also_o compare_v true_a doctrine_n to_o gold_n silver_n and_o precious_a stone_n 1_o cor._n 3.12_o and_o they_o be_v call_v precious_a promise_n all_o the_o promise_n to_o the_o godly_a be_v yea_o and_o amen_o in_o christ_n 2_o cor._n 1.20_o he_o be_v their_o mediator_n in_o he_o they_o be_v make_v one_o with_o the_o father_n so_o that_o by_o scripture_n in_o this_o chapter_n we_o see_v our_o saviour_n earnest_o pray_v for_o it_o and_o after_o his_o resurrection_n we_o read_v how_o high_o he_o be_v exalt_v and_o what_o glory_n he_o be_v lift_v up_o into_o now_o the_o father_n love_v all_o believer_n with_o the_o same_o efficacy_n as_o they_o suffer_v with_o christ_n so_o they_o shall_v reign_v with_o he_o here_o they_o be_v say_v not_o only_o to_o be_v son_n but_o heir_n and_o coheir_n with_o christ_n they_o shall_v sit_v on_o throne_n of_o glory_n with_o christ_n thus_o god_n love_n run_v in_o the_o same_o effect_n to_o christ_n and_o we_o sermon_n cxxxii_o show_v of_o what_o high_a concernment_n it_o be_v to_o the_o man_n of_o the_o world_n to_o know_v how_o great_o believer_n who_o they_o hate_v and_o persecute_v be_v belove_v of_o god_n joh_n 17.23_o that_o thou_o have_v love_v they_o as_o thou_o have_v love_v i_o the_o glorious_a privilege_n of_o a_o believer_n have_v be_v consider_v from_o this_o christ_n be_v make_v a_o curse_n die_v a_o ignominious_a and_o a_o painful_a death_n not_o for_o himself_o but_o for_o we_o by_o which_o it_o may_v appear_v that_o the_o father_n love_n be_v more_o to_o we_o then_o to_o he_o for_o he_o deliver_v he_o to_o death_n that_o we_o may_v live_v he_o be_v make_v a_o man_n of_o sorrow_n and_o full_a of_o grief_n to_o provide_v consolation_n for_o we_o so_o that_o christ_n seem_v to_o be_v but_o the_o mean_n and_o we_o the_o end_n and_o the_o end_n have_v more_o amability_n and_o appetibility_n in_o it_o then_o the_o mean_n but_o to_o this_o these_o thing_n may_v be_v return_v by_o way_n of_o answer_n first_o that_o christ_n when_o he_o die_v for_o we_o and_o procure_v our_o salvation_n answ_n he_o do_v it_o as_o a_o efficient_a cause_n by_o his_o own_o inward_a worth_n and_o power_n so_o that_o our_o spiritual_a mercy_n be_v not_o so_o much_o to_o be_v consider_v the_o end_n of_o christ_n death_n as_o the_o effect_n of_o it_o so_o that_o we_o may_v true_o say_v what_o the_o people_n do_v to_o david_n in_o a_o high_a manner_n to_o christ_n thou_o be_v worth_a ten_o thousand_o of_o we_o yea_o then_o all_o believer_n so_o that_o christ_n die_v not_o for_o we_o in_o such_o a_o way_n as_o when_o a_o martyr_n die_v for_o the_o truth_n or_o a_o private_a person_n for_o the_o commonwealth_n for_o these_o die_v to_o prefer_v a_o great_a good_a above_o the_o less_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n be_v more_o worth_a than_o any_o man_n life_n the_o public_a good_a be_v more_o precious_a than_o the_o temporal_a advantage_n of_o any_o one_o man_n and_o in_o these_o instance_n the_o lesser_a good_a be_v lose_v for_o the_o great_a but_o when_o christ_n be_v thus_o afflict_v by_o the_o father_n for_o we_o this_o be_v that_o a_o great_a good_n may_v obtain_v a_o lesser_a for_o in_o christ_n blood_n there_o be_v plenty_n and_o all_o fullness_n to_o redeem_v his_o people_n so_o that_o we_o be_v not_o to_o look_v on_o christ_n die_v as_o a_o mere_a passive_a mean_n ordain_v for_o we_o but_o as_o a_o active_a mean_n by_o the_o causality_n and_o virtue_n whereof_o our_o eternal_a good_a be_v accomplish_v second_o the_o father_n do_v not_o love_v we_o more_o than_o christ_n though_o for_o a_o while_o he_o be_v make_v miserable_a for_o we_o for_o christ_n willing_a offering_n up_o of_o himself_o to_o this_o sacrifice_n do_v infinite_o draw_v out_o the_o love_n of_o god_n to_o he_o so_o that_o the_o father_n love_v he_o the_o more_o because_o he_o will_v out_o himself_o from_o the_o exercise_n and_o actual_a enjoyment_n of_o his_o father_n love_n for_o a_o season_n that_o he_o be_v content_v for_o a_o time_n to_o be_v in_o those_o agony_n and_o conflict_n grapple_v with_o the_o sense_n of_o his_o father_n displeasure_n for_o this_o very_a reason_n his_o father_n do_v infinite_o love_v he_o so_o christ_n himself_o witness_v job_n 10.17_o therefore_o do_v my_o father_n love_v i_o because_o i_o lay_v
