the_o sin_n of_o jeroboam_n the_o son_n of_o nebat_fw-la who_o make_v israel_n to_o sin_n jehu_n depart_v not_o from_o after_o they_o to_o wit_n the_o golden_a calf_n that_o be_v in_o bethel_n and_o that_o be_v in_o dan._n but_o jehu_n take_v no_o heed_n to_o walk_v in_o the_o law_n of_o the_o lord_n god_n of_o israel_n with_o all_o his_o heart_n for_o he_o depart_v not_o from_o the_o sin_n of_o jeroboam_n which_o make_v israel_n to_o sin_n poor_a jehu_n can_v go_v no_o further_o in_o stead_n of_o go_v to_o the_o true_a god_n he_o run_v to_o his_o golden_a calf_n and_o take_v up_o his_o restingplace_n there_o why_o because_o that_o notwithstanding_o all_o his_o glorious_a outward_a appearance_n he_o have_v not_o the_o root_n of_o the_o matter_n in_o he_o and_o his_o heart_n not_o be_v of_o a_o heavenly_a nature_n what_o shall_v he_o do_v there_o or_o in_o the_o way_n that_o lead_v effectual_o to_o it_o therefore_o it_o be_v most_o suitable_a to_o he_o to_o abide_v here_o below_o amid_o the_o vanity_n of_o a_o deprave_a world_n jeroboam_n sin_n that_o jehu_n depart_v not_o from_o that_o so_o we_o may_v be_v acquaint_v with_o the_o mind_n of_o god_n in_o this_o scripture_n it_o be_v necessary_a for_o we_o to_o inquire_v and_o consider_v first_o what_o these_o sin_n of_o jeroboam_n be_v that_o jehu_n depart_v not_o from_o second_o the_o aggravation_n of_o this_o man_n sin_n beyond_o those_o that_o go_v before_o he_o three_o the_o reason_n why_o jeroboam_n and_o this_o jehu_n will_v not_o depart_v from_o their_o sin_n for_o the_o first_o what_o those_o sin_n of_o jeroboam_n be_v that_o jehu_n answer_v not_o the_o expectation_n of_o god_n in_o depart_v from_o we_o shall_v consider_v they_o 1._o more_o general_o 2._o more_o particular_o first_o more_o general_o which_o relate_v to_o jehu_n more_o particular_o then_o to_o jeroboam_n forehead_n ●s_v not_o this_o sin_n ●ritten_v in_o large_a character_n in_o ●ur_n forehead_n 1._o cleave_v to_o the_o be_v so_o much_o reason_n of_o state_n for_o it_o therefore_o he_o will_v run_v the_o hazard_n of_o the_o hot_a displeasure_n and_o wrath_n of_o god_n against_o he_o rather_o than_o venture_v the_o loss_n of_o his_o kingdom_n in_o his_o carnal_a and_o unbelieving_a apprehension_n say_v he_o if_o the_o calf_n be_v take_v away_o those_o ancient_a political_a bound_n and_o fortress_n of_o the_o kingdom_n then_o shall_v the_o kingdom_n return_v to_o the_o house_n of_o david_n and_o i_o what_o shall_v i_o do_v how_o then_o shall_v i_o reap_v the_o fruit_n of_o my_o labour_n and_o enjoy_v the_o purchase_n of_o my_o hardship_n and_o danger_n that_o i_o have_v run_v into_o and_o blood_n that_o i_o have_v shed_v no_o all_o will_v be_v lose_v if_o once_o i_o go_v over_o this_o bank_n and_o that_o provoke_v god_n shall_v go_v down_o but_o that_o baasha_n and_n ahab_n sin_n too_o but_o when_o once_o ieroboam_n sin_n come_v to_o be_v meddle_v with_o that_o touch_v he_o to_o the_o quick_a it_o be_v of_o so_o near_a concernment_n as_o he_o think_v to_o his_o kingdom_n do_v any_o thing_n but_o that_o i_o will_v please_v god_n and_o do_v his_o will_n but_o i_o must_v not_o lose_v my_o kingdom_n my_o outward_a worldly_a interest_n be_v very_o dear_a to_o i_o i_o pray_v spare_v that_o unbelief_n will_v carry_v a_o man_n though_o he_o be_v never_o so_o outward_o glorious_a in_o profession_n to_o the_o great_a precipice_n of_o apostatise_v danger_n and_o be_v not_o this_o the_o very_a picture_n of_o our_o time_n how_o zealous_a be_v we_o many_o year_n for_o god_n and_o pull_v down_o all_o before_o we_o that_o stand_v in_o our_o way_n we_o pull_v down_o and_o utter_o destroy_v ahab_n and_o his_o whole_a house_n and_o leave_v none_o remain_v but_o now_o we_o be_v get_v to_o the_o calf_n and_o alas_o they_o be_v golden_a one_o have_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o good_a gold_n in_o they_o it_o be_v pity_n to_o destroy_v they_o we_o pull_v down_o king_n and_o house_n of_o lord_n yea_o and_o commons_o too_o and_o pull_v down_o many_o gross_a tyranny_n in_o worship_n and_o commonwealth_n yet_o now_o how_o be_v our_o heat_n and_o zeal_n cool_v with_o iehu_n we_o can_v go_v no_o further_o oh_o if_o we_o do_v we_o shall_v bring_v all_o thing_n into_o confusion_n we_o say_v the_o kingdom_n will_v be_v lose_v present_o and_o i_o can_v wish_v this_o gall_n of_o bitterness_n be_v for_o iehu_n heart_n be_v real_o set_v upon_o that_o present_a work_n of_o root_a out_o and_o destroy_v the_o house_n of_o ahab_n and_o baal_n but_o jehu_n know_v iehonadab_n heart_n be_v right_a to_o the_o work_n of_o reformation_n and_o he_o profess_v his_o so_o too_o and_o here_o lie_v the_o question_n be_v thy_o heart_n right_a for_o i_o for_o my_o person_n my_o interest_n my_o sit_v on_o the_o throne_n my_o govern_v the_o people_n in_o the_o place_n of_o ahab_n as_o my_o heart_n be_v right_a with_o thy_o heart_n for_o that_o which_o thou_o desire_v reformation_n predecessor_n these_o
