be_v of_o long_a continuance_n three_o which_o be_v most_o beautiful_a and_o fashionable_a now_o let_v we_o cast_v our_o eye_n upon_o this_o ornament_n of_o holiness_n of_o which_o there_o be_v so_o much_o necessity_n that_o without_o it_o no_o man_n shall_v see_v the_o lord_n and_o we_o may_v behold_v it_o tender_v unto_o we_o at_o a_o very_a cheap_a rate_n as_o on_o our_o part_n for_o although_o gold_n and_o silver_n will_v not_o purchase_v it_o yet_o god_n do_v free_o give_v it_o in_o the_o use_n of_o the_o mean_n that_o he_o have_v ordain_v to_o effect_v it_o let_v we_o then_o improve_v the_o mean_n and_o god_n have_v promise_v a_o blessing_n it_o will_v indeed_o cost_v we_o the_o part_n with_o our_o rot_a rag_n of_o the_o old_a man_n but_o what_o be_v they_o in_o comparison_n to_o the_o ornament_n of_o the_o new_a man_n which_o after_o god_n be_v create_v in_o righteousness_n and_o true_a holiness_n it_o may_v be_v it_o will_v cost_v we_o the_o part_n with_o our_o former_a companion_n in_o worldly_a vanity_n and_o not_o only_o our_o gross_a sin_n but_o our_o own_o righteousness_n which_o be_v of_o the_o law_n phil._n 3._o it_o may_v be_v it_o will_v cost_v we_o the_o part_n with_o a_o good_a name_n among_o man_n and_o with_o our_o good_n liberty_n and_o life_n which_o be_v thing_n near_o and_o dear_a unto_o we_o but_o if_o we_o part_v with_o all_o these_o for_o holiness_n we_o shall_v be_v abundant_o gainer_n by_o the_o hand_n for_o what_o be_v corrupt_a lust_n and_o carnal_a vanity_n in_o comparison_n of_o the_o gift_n and_o grace_n and_o spiritual_a enjoyment_n of_o christ_n and_o what_o be_v the_o fellowship_n of_o carnal_a friend_n and_o vain_a companion_n unto_o the_o communion_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o fellowship_n of_o the_o saint_n and_o what_o be_v the_o suffering_n of_o god_n people_n though_o in_o name_n person_n and_o estate_n in_o comparison_n of_o that_o exceed_a and_o eternal_a weight_n of_o glory_n promise_v unto_o a_o holy_a life_n holiness_n do_v far_o surpass_v all_o valuation_n that_o can_v be_v lay_v in_o opposition_n to_o it_o wherefore_o let_v we_o lay_v out_o for_o holiness_n it_o be_v a_o rich_a bargain_n at_o the_o high_a rate_n second_o holiness_n be_v a_o ornament_n exceed_v durable_a in_o respect_n of_o its_o use_n and_o service_n the_o more_o it_o be_v make_v use_n of_o the_o more_o excellent_a it_o be_v holiness_n be_v every_o way_n serviceable_a to_o the_o creature_n it_o help_v the_o creature_n to_o glorify_v god_n in_o obedience_n to_o his_o command_n as_o to_o find_v acceptance_n with_o he_o it_o help_v towards_o peace_n of_o conscience_n and_o comfort_n in_o a_o die_a hour_n it_o help_v towards_o a_o sanctify_a use_n of_o all_o the_o creature_n with_o comfort_n in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o they_o it_o help_v a_o soul_n to_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n and_o that_o bless_a enjoyment_n of_o communion_n with_o he_o in_o glory_n yea_o it_o be_v serviceable_a upon_o all_o account_n at_o all_o time_n in_o in_o all_o place_n in_o all_o company_n &_o in_o all_o condition_n provide_v the_o creature_n cast_v it_o not_o off_o as_o a_o garment_n out_o of_o fashion_n &_o esteem_n but_o put_v it_o on_o and_o gird_v it_o to_o he_o and_o be_v always_o find_v in_o it_o and_o it_o will_v be_v so_o serviceable_a to_o he_o that_o as_o abovesaid_a the_o more_o it_o be_v make_v use_n of_o the_o more_o excellent_a it_o be_v for_o three_o holiness_n be_v never_o out_o of_o fashion_n and_o esteem_v with_o god_n and_o good_a man_n it_o be_v that_o which_o god_n in_o christ_n design_v from_o eternity_n to_o accomplish_v in_o his_o people_n and_o holiness_n shall_v be_v the_o ornament_n of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n unto_o eternity_n when_o all_o these_o outward_a thing_n shall_v be_v dissolve_v holiness_n shall_v remain_v in_o its_o primitive_a beauty_n holiness_n accompany_v and_o beautify_v a_o soul_n not_o only_o in_o this_o phil._n 3.14_o to_o follow_v peace_n with_o all_o man_n and_o holiness_n without_o which_o no_o man_n shall_v see_v the_o lord_n heb._n 12.14_o chap._n v._o contain_v some_o direction_n how_o to_o by_o the_o holy_a spirit_n proceed_v from_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n in_o its_o powerful_a influence_n and_o operation_n upon_o the_o inward_a man_n be_v wrought_v and_o effect_v in_o they_o that_o be_v sanctify_v in_o christ_n jesus_n and_o call_v to_o be_v saint_n through_o the_o exercise_n of_o faith_n in_o christ_n now_o for_o the_o clear_n up_o of_o these_o thing_n to_o our_o for_o our_o better_a glorify_v of_o his_o name_n the_o end_n many_o time_n crown_v the_o action_n as_o the_o word_n of_o saint_n james_n do_v imply_v you_o have_v not_o because_o you_o ask_v not_o and_o you_o ask_v and_o have_v not_o because_o you_o ask_v amiss_o that_o you_o may_v consume_v it_o upon_o your_o lust_n jam._n 4.2_o 3._o wherefore_o will_v we_o have_v god_n to_o supply_v and_o support_v we_o let_v we_o not_o omit_v our_o duty_n in_o seek_v to_o he_o will_v we_o have_v he_o answer_v we_o in_o our_o seek_n to_o he_o then_o let_v we_o take_v heed_n that_o we_o omit_v not_o a_o the_o apostle_n paul_n will_v have_v the_o church_n know_v their_o duty_n in_o this_o point_n and_o the_o minister_n power_n to_o require_v it_o although_o he_o voluntary_o will_v rather_o work_v with_o his_o hand_n then_o to_o be_v chargeable_a to_o the_o church_n but_o as_o for_o i_o as_o i_o have_v not_o be_v chargeable_a hitherto_o in_o that_o nature_n for_o what_o have_v by_o i_o be_v do_v upon_o that_o account_n so_o do_v i_o not_o desire_v to_o make_v the_o gospel_n chargeable_a to_o any_o except_o the_o great_a necessity_n yet_o as_o paul_n will_v so_o will_v i_o have_v christian_n know_v their_o concernment_n in_o this_o point_n as_o well_o as_o other_o point_n of_o christianity_n and_o to_o take_v heed_n lest_o omission_n here_o do_v not_o become_v a_o sin_n of_o
