unto_o death_n in_o the_o sense_n afore-explained_n as_o if_o we_o be_v indeed_o sick_a unto_o death_n in_o the_o common_a meaning_n and_o acceptation_n of_o the_o word_n we_o shall_v so_o live_v every_o day_n now_o we_o carry_v the_o seed_n of_o corruption_n and_o mortality_n about_o with_o we_o as_o we_o will_v live_v if_o the_o plague_n be_v upon_o we_o and_o the_o blue_a spot_n and_o token_n do_v appear_v on_o our_o skin_n which_o do_v always_o and_o certain_o presage_v a_o very_a near_o approach_a death_n the_o reason_n whereof_o be_v this_o because_o that_o every_o day_n must_v come_v into_o account_n and_o we_o must_v be_v judge_v for_o the_o thought_n word_n aâ—d_a action_n of_o every_o day_n after_o year_n of_o discretion_n and_o we_o be_v come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o good_a and_o evil._n i_o shall_v be_v judge_v and_o must_v give_v account_n for_o what_o i_o do_v when_o i_o be_v but_o sixteen_o twenty_o or_o twentyfive_a year_n old_a as_o now_o when_o i_o be_o more_o than_o thirty_o and_o so_o i_o shall_v be_v call_v in_o question_n at_o the_o judgment-seat_n of_o christ_n for_o what_o i_o do_v now_o as_o for_o what_o i_o shall_v do_v in_o the_o last_o month_n week_n and_o day_n of_o my_o life_n so_o that_o the_o consequence_n be_v natural_a and_o necessary_a i_o ought_v now_o as_o much_o to_o walk_v in_o all_o holy_a conversation_n and_o godliness_n and_o to_o efchew_v evil_a and_o do_v good_a as_o much_o and_o all_o one_o as_o if_o it_o be_v the_o last_o month_n week_n and_o day_n of_o my_o life_n for_o i_o shall_v be_v equal_o judge_v for_o one_o as_o for_o the_o other_o the_o end_n of_o our_o redemption_n be_v that_o we_o may_v serve_v god_n without_o fear_n in_o righteousness_n and_o holiness_n before_o he_o all_o the_o day_n of_o our_o life_n and_o although_o there_o be_v much_o talk_n in_o the_o world_n of_o preparation_n for_o death_n and_o of_o provide_v for_o our_o latter_a end_n as_o if_o it_o be_v then_o time_n enough_o to_o be_v godly_a when_o we_o grow_v sickly_a or_o old_a in_o no_o wise_a god_n forbid_v for_o it_o will_v go_v evil_a with_o that_o soul_n which_o have_v not_o be_v godly_a before_o yet_o in_o the_o scripture_n which_o be_v give_v to_o make_v we_o wise_a unto_o salvation_n which_o be_v a_o perfect_a and_o all-sufficient_a rule_n of_o life_n
teach_v it_o unto_o we_o by_o that_o common_a knowledge_n which_o he_o have_v give_v unto_o we_o as_o his_o reasonable_a creature_n but_o yet_o god_n will_v more_o abundant_o to_o acqnaint_v we_o and_o christ_n speak_v by_o they_o as_o when_o we_o send_v a_o letter_n to_o one_o at_o a_o hundred_o miles_n distance_n who_o we_o have_v know_v or_o hear_v of_o we_o do_v by_o that_o same_o letter_n speak_v to_o he_o in_o effect_n yea_o and_o as_o much_o to_o their_o knowledge_n and_o understanding_n as_o if_o we_o be_v in_o the_o same_o room_n together_o and_o we_o do_v talk_v to_o they_o face_n be_v many_o be_v proper_o style_v host_n in_o the_o plural_a number_n to_o denote_v and_o set_v forth_o their_o multitude_n now_o compare_v that_o army_n we_o read_v of_o in_o scripture_n of_o a_o one_o unto_o his_o neighbour_n or_o with_o flatter_a lip_n or_o a_o double_a heart_n there_o be_v no_o great_a notice_n take_v of_o this_o do_v we_o not_o this_o very_a day_n see_v with_o our_o eye_n a_o grief_n and_o a_o burden_n so_o as_o to_o crush_v and_o not_o give_v way_n unto_o they_o when_o they_o be_v so_o but_o they_o abstain_v from_o they_o as_o much_o as_o ever_o they_o can_v and_o they_o do_v not_o only_o say_v so_o with_o a_o parcel_n of_o customary_a word_n for_o there_o be_v a_o fashionable_a kind_n of_o religious_a talk_n when_o they_o do_v not_o feel_v the_o same_o inward_o but_o they_o do_v not_o sensible_o find_v it_o so_o in_o they_o and_o then_o they_o be_v mere_a complainer_n only_o o_o my_o leanness_n o_o the_o vanity_n and_o corruption_n of_o my_o heart_n or_o such_o like_a but_o they_o stand_v still_o and_o do_v not_o mend_v nor_o endeavour_v to_o get_v rid_v of_o those_o vain_a thought_n as_o god_n understand_v our_o thought_n afar_o off_o and_o have_v appoint_v his_o word_n as_o a_o rule_n and_o regulator_n thereof_o so_o there_o be_v not_o a_o word_n in_o my_o tongue_n but_o lo_o lord_n thou_o know_v it_o altogether_o
whilst_o we_o be_v thus_o continual_o die_v on_o this_o earth_n we_o shall_v thus_o wait_v till_o our_o change_n shall_v come_v the_o word_n of_o instruction_n which_o do_v arise_v from_o hence_o be_v that_o we_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o be_v as_o like_o god_n and_o as_o like_o christ_n as_o ever_o we_o can_v in_o all_o his_o communicable_a attribute_n and_o perfection_n for_o so_o far_o as_o we_o be_v partaker_n of_o his_o holiness_n or_o of_o his_o image_n and_o likeness_n here_o we_o shall_v be_v assure_o partaker_n of_o his_o happiness_n and_o blessedness_n hereafter_o thou_o shall_v die_v and_o not_o live_v there_o be_v no_o need_n to_o insist_v much_o or_o enlarge_v further_o upon_o that_o subject_a death_n be_v common_a to_o all_o for_o who_o know_v not_o this_o already_o who_o know_v not_o also_o that_o we_o do_v continual_o from_o time_n to_o time_n haste_n and_o approach_v near_o and_o near_o unto_o it_o as_o also_o who_o know_v not_o that_o we_o be_v in_o a_o world_n do_v relate_v there_o do_v arise_v in_o we_o afaintness_n and_o anguish_n at_o the_o thorough_a consideration_n of_o the_o perish_a nature_n of_o thing_n which_o be_v sensible_a and_o may_v be_v perceive_v for_o as_o when_o it_o be_v tell_v saul_n to_o morrow_n thou_o shall_v be_v with_o i_o that_o be_v in_o the_o state_n of_o the_o dead_a than_o saul_n fall_v straightway_o all_o along_o on_o the_o earth_n and_o be_v sore_o afraid_a because_o of_o the_o word_n of_o samuel_n and_o there_o be_v no_o strength_n in_o he_o so_o it_o be_v at_o the_o thorough_a apprehension_n and_o knowledge_n of_o this_o thing_n of_o perish_v corruption_n and_o mortality_n we_o become_v as_o of_o no_o strength_n free_a among_o the_o dead_a and_o we_o have_v less_o strength_n at_o the_o thought_n before_o hand_n that_o death_n at_o length_n will_v take_v all_o strength_n from_o we_o because_o that_o thing_n by_o their_o perish_v do_v seem_v to_o be_v vain_a therefore_o do_v arise_v vexation_n of_o spirit_n and_o we_o can_v wish_v it_o be_v otherwise_o and_o not_o so_o yea_o that_o it_o be_v not_o so_o we_o have_v assure_v hope_n it_o be_v usual_o now_o reckon_v a_o enhancement_n of_o misery_n when_o we_o know_v better_a and_o yet_o we_o can_v have_v and_o enjoy_v it_o for_o if_o one_o have_v never_o know_v â—or_a conceive_v of_o the_o worth_n or_o goodness_n of_o such_o a_o thing_n the_o disappointment_n for_o miss_v thereof_o will_v not_o have_v be_v so_o vexatious_a and_o so_o here_o it_o be_v god_n have_v implant_v in_o all_o man_n whatsoever_o some_o knowledge_n and_o thing_n in_o his_o own_o order_n the_o thing_n be_v true_a though_o the_o time_n appoint_v for_o it_o be_v long_o god_n dâ—â—â—_n in_o the_o life_n that_o now_o be_v and_o on_o this_o earth_n give_v we_o only_o his_o perish_v transitory_a and_o imperfect_a good_a thing_n the_o thing_n that_o i_o have_v give_v they_o shall_v pass_v away_o from_o they_o jer._n 8._o 13._o which_o be_v on_o this_o respect_n suitable_a to_o our_o condition_n here_o for_o that_o also_o be_v perish_v imperfect_a transitory_a and_o pass_v away_o but_o his_o abide_n eternal_a pesrect_a and_o satisfactory_a thing_n o_o i_o shall_v be_v satisfy_v when_o i_o awake_v with_o thy_o likeness_n psal_n 17._o 15._o these_o he_o have_v reserve_v and_o will_v give_v unto_o such_o of_o the_o reasonable_a inhabitant_n will_n or_o rack-renters_a god_n have_v let_v out_o to_o we_o husbandman_n this_o his_o vineyard_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o he_o sit_v above_o afar_o off_o and_o out_o of_o sight_n and_o he_o send_v because_o as_o yet_o it_o do_v not_o go_v so_o well_o with_o the_o concernment_n of_o god_n and_o his_o truth_n so_o as_o to_o reform_v and_o bring_v the_o corrupt_a world_n into_o subjection_n and_o you_o covetous_a person_n muck-worm_n and_o earthly-minded_n man_n we_o read_v express_o in_o 2_o pet._n 3._o 10._o the_o earth_n also_o and_o the_o work_n that_o be_v therein_o shall_v be_v burn_v up_o then_o by_o consequence_n all_o those_o people_n who_o name_n shall_v be_v find_v write_v in_o the_o earth_n shall_v be_v burn_v up_o also_o together_o with_o the_o earth_n and_o the_o work_n that_o be_v therein_o as_o indeed_o another_o scripture_n do_v come_v in_o and_o confirm_v and_o give_v attestation_n unto_o the_o same_o and_o whosoever_o be_v not_o find_v write_v in_o the_o book_n of_o life_n be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n now_o again_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o who_o

their_o end_n namely_o when_o the_o earth_n and_o the_o work_n that_o be_v therein_o shall_v be_v burn_v up_o themselves_o who_o names_n shall_v be_v write_v in_o the_o earth_n many_o of_o who_o now_o call_v their_o land_n after_o their_o own_o name_n psalm_n 89._o 11._o shall_v be_v burn_v up_o also_o together_o with_o it_o with_o unquenchable_a fire_n for_o my_o â—art_n i_o have_v rather_o have_v my_o name_n write_v in_o the_o book_n of_o â—he_n live_v and_o be_v write_v with_o the_o righteous_a though_o by_o persecution_n and_o oppression_n i_o shall_v be_v strip_v of_o all_o than_o to_o understand_v as_o the_o same_o may_v be_v true_o gather_v from_o out_o of_o the_o same_o scripture_n of_o truth_n none_o will_v be_v condemn_v at_o the_o last_o day_n mere_o or_o only_o because_o he_o be_v rich_a in_o this_o world_n and_o so_o it_o be_v contrariwise_o none_o will_v be_v save_v mere_o or_o only_o because_o he_o be_v poor_a in_o this_o world_n but_o people_n will_v be_v save_v or_o condemn_v according_a as_o they_o have_v do_v good_a or_o evil_a and_o according_a as_o their_o deed_n do_v in_o the_o body_n be_v righteous_a or_o unrighteous_a just_a or_o unjust_a equal_a or_o unequal_a true_a or_o false_a act_n of_o duty_n and_o obedience_n or_o act_n of_o sin_n or_o according_a as_o they_o do_v most_o set_v their_o heart_n and_o affection_n upon_o god_n or_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n i_o have_v hear_v a_o man_n speak_v on_o this_o wise_a as_o long_o as_o my_o possession_n good_n and_o estate_n will_v serve_v my_o time_n it_o be_v well_o enough_o which_o seem_v to_o be_v a_o fit_a expression_n for_o one_o who_o have_v his_o portion_n in_o this_o life_n and_o true_o this_o be_v the_o mistake_v the_o man_n of_o the_o world_n go_v upon_o for_o this_o make_v they_o so_o eager_a and_o desirous_a in_o compass_v and_o obtain_v they_o whether_o by_o lawful_a or_o unlawful_a mean_n whether_o by_o right_n or_o wrong_n omission_n of_o duty_n or_o commission_n of_o sin_n for_o they_o imagine_v and_o say_v that_o the_o good_a thing_n of_o this_o life_n will_v serve_v for_o their_o time_n but_o in_o this_o they_o do_v great_o err_v for_o as_o aforesaid_a themselves_o have_v immortal_a soul_n and_o immortal_a spirit_n which_o exist_v and_o live_v the_o very_a first_o hour_n after_o they_o be_v dislodge_v from_o the_o body_n and_o see_v that_o the_o world_n pass_v away_o and_o the_o lust_n and_o fashion_n thereof_o it_o be_v hence_o manifest_a and_o clear_a that_o they_o do_v not_o neither_o will_v they_o serve_v their_o time_n for_o our_o time_n or_o the_o time_n of_o ourselves_o which_o be_v our_o soul_n be_v to_o last_v as_o long_o as_o god_n himself_o and_o to_o run_v parallel_n with_o the_o long_a line_n of_o eternity_n even_o until_o time_n shall_v be_v no_o more_o but_o we_o be_v thence_o launch_v forth_o into_o the_o vast_a and_o infinite_a ocean_n of_o forever_o and_o ever_o tell_v they_o therefore_o thus_o say_v the_o lord_n god_n i_o will_v make_v this_o proverb_n to_o cease_v and_o they_o shall_v no_o more_o use_v it_o as_o a_o proverb_n in_o israel_n but_o say_v unto_o they_o the_o day_n be_v at_o hand_n and_o the_o corruptible_a but_o themselves_o that_o be_v their_o soul_n be_v immortal_a and_o incorruptible_a indeed_o in_o this_o sense_n they_o may_v and_o shall_v serve_v their_o time_n by_o use_v and_o receive_v they_o to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o according_a to_o the_o bound_n rule_n and_o direction_n of_o his_o law_n that_o they_o may_v be_v for_o the_o benefit_n and_o not_o hurt_v of_o the_o owner_n as_o the_o wise_a man_n intimate_v and_o according_a to_o this_o counsel_n and_o command_n of_o our_o lord_n and_o saviour_n jesus_n christ_n make_v to_o yourselves_o friend_n of_o the_o mammon_n of_o unrighteousness_n that_o when_o you_o fail_v they_o may_v receive_v you_o into_o everlasting_a habitation_n rich_a people_n shall_v most_o of_o all_o much_o consider_v of_o this_o so_o
